However, with a bright light source near the field edge, the Leica ones are vastly amazingly better. The Swarovsky ones show actual reflections when aimed quite a bit farther away.

I struggled justifying whether or not these are worth the investment but as you get older your eyes get a bit more tired and I simply do not have the clarity I had in my 30's and 40's. I made the leap with reservation but I will say these are crystal clear and their ability to gather a quality image in low light situations are remarkable. I enjoy the vivid image these provide and look forward to many more years ahead enjoying the outdoors. In the end, I'm glad I made the investment. Love these binoculars!
6 December 2022

I traded replaced an old pair of Zeiss binoculars. These are much brighter and I love the attached lenses covers. They are well balanced and extremely bright and clear. OThe only con was that instead of the nice carrying case Swarovski used to include was replaced with a soft cloth bag with a drawstring.

Really Great Binoculars, with one exception
23 July 2020

These binoculars are worth the price if you want something that's easy to use, and amazingly sharp. I have less expensive binoculars and there is no comparison to the viewing quality. The one exception are the lens caps. Mine lasted about 3 months and then both broke off (while they were being stored, not while they were being used) I thought it was something I must have done and ordered new lens caps from B&H. They lasted two weeks with minimal use. The design looks great, but either the rubber they use is really cheap, or there is a flaw in the snap making it too sharp. They are tight and they still work, but now I have to remove them and put them in my pocket rather than having them just hang down. For the $2200 price tag on these, that should not be happening. ... MoreThese binoculars are worth the price if you want something that's easy to use, and amazingly sharp. Reduced Minimum Focus Distance
7 September 2023

I received these not knowing that Swarovski has reduced the minimum focusing distance after the 2020 design refresh when the NL pures came out. I'm no longer able to view butterflies, dragonflies, etc. within the typical range of options from other brands. At a reduced price, these are still packed with value, I also don't mind that they included a nice carry bag rather than the case. However, the rolling ball effect from the field flatteners may force me to consider other options.

Well, I finally took the plunge and bought a pair of Swarovski binos. I currently have Vortex Razor 12x50’s. So the comparison is more apple to grapple, but.. The Swarovski 10x42 is better in every way over the Razors with the exception of magnification. (Obviously) I expected the Vortex 50mm objective to compare to 42mm objective on swaro’s, making light gathering and image clarity about equal. Not so much. Definitely a difference. The Swarovski’s are definitely a brighter and crisper image under low light/overcast conditions. That said, the difference is minimal. To the average hunter, Razors are more than sufficient. The biggest difference will be seen during low light conditions. The dislikes… The focus knob! What in the world.. The biggest difference will be seen during low light conditions. The dislikes… The focus knob! What in the world.. The Razors have a perfect pressure/feel while adjusting, the Swarovski’s feel different in both directions, to easily moving past focus. It’s a sloppy cheep feel. Very disappointed in focus “feel”. Second, (and lastly) Swarovski stopped including a carry case! You get this super cheesy “bag” that looks like a 20 cent piece of ugly cloth. ?? What in the world were u thinking Swarovski!? $2200 for binos and no case? 🤔I opted to NOT buy the new NL’s, and I’m glad I didn’t. Main reason being the extra $1k. The difference between the NLs and EL’s will barley be noticed by the most dedicated nature watchers… Even then, unless $ is absolutely no concern, or you just need to “know” you have the absolute pinnacle of Binocular tech, 99% of ppl will be completely satisfied with EL’s and spending the extra $1k on anything else. I will add I like the “feel” of EL’s over NL’s. The NL’s have a more sleek thin feel, for ppl with smaller hands, this might be a selling point. I have big hands, and the EL’s fit perfectly. Still not sold on feel of NL’s focus knob… The buying experience at Scheels, in Great Falls, was excellent. (As usual) Friendly staff, always there to help. You won’t find a company that gives better product support than Scheels. The extra safety net buying with Scheels and their satisfaction guarantee is a no brainer.. Knowing that if something goes wrong, i wont be stuck dealing with manufacturer, but a company who stands behind the products they sell. My 4 star rating was based on 1 thing. The Swarovski’s focus knob. That dropped my overall review. Make sure you’ll be happy with it before buying. I was considering returning over this. But, ultimately everything is better with the exception of.. I also have a pair of Leopold cascades, in 10x42. There is no comparison there. Both Razor and Swaro glass performance is far superior. That said, it’s like comparing a kia to a Ferrari. Pretty unfair to the Kia.. Although the Leopolds do have a smother more consistent feel to the…. Focus. 🤨

The Real Deal

I’ve wanted a pair of Swaros since a guide showed me his on Safari in Kenya. Ever since then, no pair of Binos ever compared.I weighed heavily between the SLCs and the EL’s. What finally sold me was borrowing a pair of each and doing side-by-side comparisons for an entire evening. The thing that sold me on the SLs was the edge to edge clarity. The entire field of view is crisp and bright. I can see better with these Binos than I can my own eyes. The SLCs, while also amazing, had a sweet spot in the middle that was very sharp, but it was soft at the edges. When I would read text at the edges, the difference was notable. For me, I figured if I was going to spend a crazy amount of money on Binocs, I wanted perfection. One note: there is a lot of debate on 8X vs 10X ... MoreI’ve wanted a pair of Swaros since a guide showed me his on Safari in Kenya. The increased depth of field alone might make it worth it. For me, I own a bunch of 7X and 8X Binos, so the 10X made sense for me. I also bought a simple, flat tripod mount to glass from. I know there are a lot of spendy mounting solutions out there (and they sponsor some big names), but they are just that - spendy. My solution weighs just a few oz and kept me from having to mount a stud that would hit my fingers every time I glassed. Just my two cents there.Overall if you’re reading this, I know you already want these. My advice - put away $50 every paycheck and after two years, you’ll be able to afford these.

Truly great glass
1 March 2021

I had a pair of Swaro SLC’s years ago and they were great. Unfortunately they were stolen and since then I’ve bounced around with mid-tier bino’s, most recently Vortex Razors. While the Razors were good, I constantly had to dial in the focus because the depth of focus was so shallow. Not only do the Swaro EL’s have much better glass, I don’t have to stay on the focus wheel constantly to get focused on objects at varying distances. This makes glassing infinitely more enjoyable to me and I’m more effective at finding critters. The Swaro EL’s, while certainly a significant investment, are worth every penny to me personally. Plus they are backed by a company that understands customer service. I should have bought these years ago.

I have had many binoculars including all the Alpha's including every Swarovski made. I liked Swarovski binoculars at first until I started seeing glare in sunny highly reflective situations. If you use your binoculars in the bright sun and especially at high altitude don't buy a Swarovski EL!
