This is not remote play. That is the gimmick that made the switch famous and it's greatest selling point. So if that is something that intrigues you, you will love this. Travel a lot, this is perfect. There are some drawbacks if you are a serious gamer I'm my opinion. Whether docked on a tv or in handheld mode effects how the games perform. Also the screen is very small, only a little larger than a normal smart phone. Some games are hard to play in heldheld mode, text is small details are hard to see. Personally I like tv mode. Also the switch is very underpowered. It cannot hold up to ps4 or xbox one let alone the current Gen. Games on the switch take a heavy heavy hit in the graphics and performance department. They have lower resolution 1080p tv mode, 720p in handheld. The frame rates are lower and the graphical details are reduced when compared to say ps4 or ps5. So it falls somewhere in the better than ps3 or xbox 360 but not as good as ps4/5 or xbox one/series. But one thing that is clear is the switch is a great destination for indie games. Indie games are less graphically demanding and plentiful. That and the always charming Nintendo exclusives makes this a good console for casual gamers, young children and gamers on the go. There is also fragility. This is a fragile price of equipment. I doubt it will survive too many falls so supervision on young kids is needed. I would live to show a picture of the joycon controller but mi e broke with minimal use (I use a controller usually). Last the kick stand on the back is very flimsy. I would recommend you get a third party stand. They are way better. It's a nice compliment to a traditional home console like a ps5 or xbox, but current game games should probably be avoided if you want modern graphics looking their best.

This console is one of the best handhelds of the past few years. The Switch can alternate between being a convenient handheld device or be played on the TV like a larger console, allowing more usage than one that cannot. It is largely more durable than past Nintendo consoles such as the DS. This has been dropped several times and is still holding up just fine. I cannot say the same for my DS Lite. The Switch can be customized and decorated to your heart’s desires, with Joycons, joystick covers, and cases. The only downside to the Joycons is that you experience drift with the joysticks faster than say a PlayStation or Xbox controller. Sometimes they will not drift for a very long time and other times it will do so after a year or two. Not only have many, many games came out for the console but several (such as the Metal Gear Solid series, an older title) have been ported and are now easily accessible to modern gamers. Most games you could want to play are in the console’s expansive library. The Nintendo Switch can handle and run larger games well (as long as there is room on your device for it). Nintendo has had the Nintendo Switch out for the longest of any of their other consoles they have produced, and for good reason. The Switch has had more use in its lifetime for us than the Gameboy or the DS.

Sure, it's no PS4 or PS5, but it's an incredible little machine with such incredible versatility in such a tiny package. While it might not have the pure processing power and graphics capability of the other two major systems it does do what Nintendo has done best for a long time, provide a reasonably priced quality portable gaming system. The advantage this time is that the Switch is both a home console and a portable console in one unit. This is something that consoles in general have never really been able to do until now and it's amazing how great the game quality is even in this small form factor. The advantage this time is that the Switch is both a home console and a portable console in one unit. This is something that consoles in general have never really been able to do until now and it's amazing how great the game quality is even in this small form factor. I mean, the Wii was good in the motion control but the gimmick did wear after a bit. The WiiU really felt like a disappointment in that it just didn't bring much to the table and Nintendo clearly wasn't going to be able to compete in the home console market against the other two juggernauts. What Nintendo has always been great at though is dominating the portable gaming market and the switch sees them bringing their expertise in the portable market to the home console market in a power play that really paid off in my opinion. Now, this system does still suffer from some of Nintendo's generally less favorable business practices so do take that in to account. The designs is prefect size, you can play everywhere you go ,The price for the Switch itself actually isn't that unreasonable so I don't fault them for that whatsoever. The peripherals, on the other hand, really put a dent in the pocketbook if you need to buy anything that didn't come in the box (and you probably will need to at some point, let's be honest). The price of games also comes at a premium just as it has with past Nintendo systems as you will rarely see even older games every discounted or put on sale while such things are very common with the the competing systems. For instances, "Zelda: Link's Awakening", which has roughly 13 to 15 hours of content, will still cost you $60 which is incredibly high for a game that offers so little content with little replay value. Sadly Nintendo has a tendency of doing this and always has so do be prepared to pay premium prices for most games with the Switch. All in all I still think the unit is worth it particularly since you just can't find a better portable gaming platform than this. I definitely recommend getting the Switch over the Switch Lite as those are fully integrated and if you bust an analog stick or a button you're pretty much screwed. With a Switch you can replace the side controllers as you need and we all know controller buttons and analog sticks can wear over time so that alone is worth it. I mean, for $100 more you get a heck of a lot better of a system than you do with a lite so I highly recommend going this route if you're looking in to a Switch.

I've had many handheld gaming devices and in my opinion this is the best one out there so far. It's convenient, holds a good charge while also having a massive screen, the fact you can slide off the joycons and use them as a controller while viewing the game on your TV screen, or the multi-player option... the fact that so much is possible with just one tiny device is pretty impressive. I've purchased two games so far, Zelda Breath of the Wild and Mario Cart. Both are fantastic on this thing. The controls are decent and the graphics are fantastic. I LOVE that I can hook this up to my 75 inch TV and still have AMAZING graphics on a large screen. When I want to take it with me, it fits in my purse or backpack. Absolutely love. Worth every penny. Highly recommend for anyone that wants something to do in their spare time and is tired of what the algorithms have to offer on social media. I also have many other hobbies on the side but my switch is a great way to either kill time or disconnect after a long work day/week.

The Nintendo Switch is not only an excellent console for gamers, but it’s also a great option for families looking to bond over fun and exciting games! The switch is also built with safety features that make it easy for parents to monitor and regulate their children's playtime through the Parental Controls app. This setting has helped to control the amount of time that my child spends playing games, especially when school is in session!

I took a dive being unsure how useful a switch would be to me given I already play on ps5 and there's only so many times I thought I'd want to play games on the go. But being able to play bioshock for example on the go on a beautiful OLED screen really got my attention properly invested into the series again. The modular design to play how you want and with friends on the go really is so convenient as well. Ok it's underpowered and aging hardware but it's still impressive to me that essentially just a small tablet device can play games like bioshock and Alien isolation etc. I think there will always be a passion for fixed space dedicated hardware and PC gaming to push the boundaries on graphics but in terms of how mobile chipsets are becoming much more relevant for ... MoreI took a dive being unsure how useful a switch would be to me given I already play on ps5 and there's only so many times I thought I'd want to play games on the go. There is a negative with the screen however hence 4 stars. IT SCRATCHES REALLY EASILY! There is a plastic coating on the screen which is basically not removable that is there to protect the glass underneath from shattering. It's a nice feature but I think because of this plastic film it means the plastic film itself scratches really easily. So don't make the mistake I made and make sure you put your own screen protector on it. It's not like a top end smartphone screen that's really hard to scratch. 19

Screen scratched and parents lock!

OK so I got the oled switch pretty quick, but when I opened it, I could immediately see multiple scratches on the glass oled screen. Some were not terrible but a couple had gouged right in to the glass leaving a white scratch. In my opinion, this should have been sold as discounted, not unboxed because of this alone! The rear of the unit was also quite scuffed and scratched and the joy cons were in equally bad condition in my opinion. All this could perhaps be acceptable as discounted, but as unboxed, I was not happy. All of the above is quite irrelevant though, as my 1 star rating is due to the fact that there was still somebodies games and account, WITH PARENTAL LOCK, active on the system, so I couldn't even restore to factory settings without that code! I could ... MoreOK so I got the oled switch pretty quick, but when I opened it, I could immediately see multiple scratches on the glass oled screen. Some were not terrible but a couple had gouged right in to the glass leaving a white scratch. In my opinion, this should have been sold as discounted, not unboxed because of this alone! I could almost accept the cex policy of "some level of scratches are acceptable on an unboxed item," only for the fact that obviously somebody didn't actually check 1) the status of the device and parental lock, and 2) the condition, before registering it as unboxed, when it was traded in, nor when it was being posted out! Returned immediately and got refund, so I still highly regard cex in general, but as a review of the product I received? Very poor!

[Rewarded Review] Switch belongs in a trash compactor.

Switch is the worst gaming platform of all time. This being the sole reason why this product deserves the lowest rating possible, the system itself works just fine otherwise. Having bought the refurbished Switch from Best Buy a few months ago, it came with all the necessities - from the slender hardware that slides inside the charger to the most nightmarish controller in existence.Much the same as Nintendo's horrid Wii, Switch is another downgrade to motion-control video gaming. Switch's controllers are incredibly thin and bite-sized objects that only a non-human would be able to grasp onto under normal circumstances. The Switch does come with a plastic grip that lets you slot each side of the controllers that are split into two pieces on both sides to combine them into a makeshift controller. However, doing so disconnects the controllers from the system itself, which means that while gone you're always losing battery life. Similar to how frustrating it was to have to replace batteries on the Wii remote some years ago, you'll have no choice but to reconnect the two halves into the system for a refresher every now and again. While there isn't any need to insert new batteries, it's still very much a hassle having to fit a microscopic object on both sides of the machine - especially when you're engaged in expansive games that require many hours of exploration, such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.Speaking of the games, Switch also has a number of failures on its hands. This includes the latest entry from the Zelda lineup. Although I didn't mind The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild too much when completing the game on the last "quality" system Nintendo's ever made (Wii U), I still felt it to be one of the worst games in the Zelda franchise at the time. Tacking on another six years and we're starting all over again with the same dislikes, and some newer ones. Other unlikeable games on the Nintendo Switch includes everything from Kirby and the Forgotten Land to the worst Mario game of all time: Super Mario Odyssey. Being a major fan of Mario games, I've never felt more miserable toward a Mario game than this one. At least Mario + Rabbids: Battle Kingdom sort of makes up for Odyssey's complete lack of polish from this incompetent failure of a gaming device.
