Fabulous guitar straight out of the box. Play it every day, lovely sound lovely feel. This is my fourth Takamine and I might also have a look at the slimline.

The Takamine GN51 CE NEX electro acoustic left-hand in natural finishExceeded my expectations, beautifully finished and I'm very happy with the sound it producesIt's a joy to play straight out the box, good action nicely finished neck and the fret work has no issues at all.Overall very good value for money and would very much recommend.

I record at home for my own entertainment. I used to be in a band when I was younger but I get a lot of pleasure doing my own thing. This guitar while not expensive sounds exceptional. The unplugged tone has it's own personality and the guitar plugged in is it's own animal. It's like having 2 guitars. If you want a good acoustic/electric guitar to jam with, get this one!!!

After changing the tuners to Grover 18:1 ratio and getting a quality setup to lower the action to my specs, this is an easy playing and sounding guitar! Big and Bold sound unplugged and easy to use electronics to capture a wonderful tone once plugged in.
Noticed a few scuff marks on the laminate back and sides. Saw glue where the neck attaches to the body. The guitar sounds bright but doesn't have that rich tone I was hopefully expecting.
I am just a campfire strummer who had not played guitar in about 20 years. However, my kids started playing drums and piano so I decided to start playing again so that we could play music together. I didn't want to spend a lot of money because I wasn't sure how much I would actually play. So, I initially purchased a Fender CD-60SCE for $299. I really enjoyed playing again but I quickly realized that this Fender was just not very good at all. So just before my 45 day return window expired, I decided I was going to take it back and trade up for a better guitar. I immediately found a few options online ($479 -$699 range) so I decided to drive down to the local GC store to try them out. However, the moment I strummed this Takamine I knew my shopping was over. And this price is an absolute steal! I would highly recommend this guitar.
Tried several acoustics in the store, this one had a sound that jumped out above the rest. Great guitar for the budget.
Im no pro just a weekender who can play some tunes. I was looking for a nice sounding guitar to jam around the house and play for my family. At first I bought an Ibanez online and that was garbage. It came warped from the get. SO after I lost out on that one cuz I didnt return it on time, I went back to GC and tried all guitars on the rack in the 300-500 range. This is a tale of 2 guitars. The Takamine by far looked and felt the best. Felt smooth on the neck, action was good with a great sound. So I picked it up and paid to have it set up by GC because I thought the action was a tad high and to change out the strings. 2 days later I got a call hey man sorry but the neck is slightly warped so I recommend getting a new one. They said they had another one brand new. I ... MoreIm no pro just a weekender who can play some tunes. I was looking for a nice sounding guitar to jam around the house and play for my family. They said they had another one brand new. I hate getting new ones cuz you never know. Well my gut was right. I picked up the new one and they said the action was fine so no adjustment was needed. I was in a rush so I took it home without playing. BAD MOVE. I played it and it was nothing like the other one I fell for. This one had fret buzz bad, Action was too low. Worse than that the frets were popping out from the sides. I played it for 15 min and sliced my fingers. It wasnt as bad as the Ibanez but clearly I was disappointed for such bad quality at this price. I didnt expect much from a $200 guitar but this one is nearly 500 so Its going back tomorrow. Very inconsistent. Im a bit miffed because this is the 3rd guitar I have bought from GC where they said lack of moisture ruined the fret board. I have an old guitar that has never had fret bulge.
I spent two days in the Jackson, MS GC center playing every acoustic-electric in my price-range (and quite a few that exceeded it) - while ALL of them sounded good, I was looking for a specific sounds and feel that would allow me to get back into playing after a wrist-injury that still brings fatigue and pain with some guitar necks. The moment I picked up this guitar and strummed a chord, I thought, "This is IT. It's the ONE I've been searching for...". It plays beautifully - just the richest, cleanest and crisp rich sound imaginable. It's perfect for strumming and finger-picking and even now, weeks later - every time I pick it up to play it, it still delivers that same "wow" factor that sold me in the store.
This is a great middle of the line guitar that I use for practicing and songwriting. I love the sound of this thing, warm lows and the highs ring out with clarity without sounding too clustered. Electronics are great too, pretty decent considering the price, has a built in tuner that's fairly accurate as well. Only problem I had was some construction issues, particularly the dot inlays on the fretboard, (kind of lopsided) but a very minor issue that other buyers might not have to deal with. The guitar is very beautiful in natural color and I am pleased with my purchase. As mentioned before, a good intermediate guitar that can hold its own sound-wise against the more expensive options.
