Although my daughter loves it, the batteries die within 2-3 daysWe’ve had it 9 days and we are on our third installation of new batteries! And it doesn’t matter what batteries you use! I’ve used the “expensive” kind and dollar tree brand, they both last the same amountSo my advice is to buy a BUNCH of dollar store brand batteries so you can change them without breaking the bank for an already expensive toy!

Set up was way more complicated than it should have been, once we got past that my daughter figured it out rather quickly. The button sensors are touchy. It's priced too high for what you get in my opinion, especially since you'll be replacing the batteries all the time. My daughter got hers on Christmas and it hasn't even been a week (5 days) and the batteries are low and need to be changed, it really should have been designed with a rechargeable internal battery. If her progress is lost when the batteries are changed out she's going to be really upset, but we haven't gotten there yet so we shall see. She loves it, it keeps her entertained so I gave it stars for that but again...it's priced way too high.

I've been collecting tamagotchi for years as a hobby.Instead of the typical push buttons that are used to control the tamagotchi, there is a sort of touch screen feature. Many games involve 'swiping' one way or another to control what direction you aim. Playing games with your tamagotchi is required to keep the virtual pet healthy and not winning games means that increasing the 'happiness level' is difficult. Some of the games I have found impossible to win because the toy isn't responding to me trying to 'swipe' one way or the other. The poor responsiveness has led to a lot of frustration for me, an adult. I can only imagine it would be worse for a child.

I'm not sure what some people were saying about the setup being difficult, as the manual is rather self-explanatory and I had no problems with it. Maybe it helps because I've used Tamagotchis before? Not sure.Anyways, the box came in I'd say decent condition with slight dents on the corners. So far, everything seems to be working fine and I'm having fun as it's my first colored Tamagotchi :)It's also a unique experience since the buttons are more touchscreen-like rather than buttons you click in like previous Tamagotchis. It's cool that there's different "motions" like: swiping all 3 buttons to clean the room if there's an accident, or covering the screen and buttons with your fingers to apply medicine if your tama is sick. One thing though, is that If I tap a ... It's cool that there's different "motions" like: swiping all 3 buttons to clean the room if there's an accident, or covering the screen and buttons with your fingers to apply medicine if your tama is sick. One thing though, is that If I tap a button too hard, it actually doesn't register, but if I gently tap it works just fine.Sometimes there are rare moments when I'll tap, for example, button "c" but it'll register as button "b" since maybe my thumb will accidentally graze too close to the other one? Nothing major though, I just recommend being careful. The only other issue I had, which was resolved immediately, was when I was unscrewing the backplate to put the batteries in. I probably spent 10-15 minutes trying to "unscrew it" expecting the little screw to fully come out like my other Tamagotchi. The screw felt like it was endlessly turning and would jiggle, but when I'd flip it upside down or gently shake the device, the screw wouldn't fall or come out completely.I tried prying the backplate off when the screw was loose but was too scared I'd break something because it wouldn't budge despite being looser than before. Good thing I didn't try too hard with the prying.I finally realized it was unscrewed after only a couple of turns, but the screw stayed in the socket. The reason the backplate wouldn't come off was that I had to push down and slide to sort of click it out of place lol. Not sure if anyone else had that problem but if you read this I hope what I said helps haha.I also don't know how I feel about it being $60. I got it at $40 so that felt more nicely priced.Anyways, I enjoy it. It's different than other Tamagotchis because it doesn't have marriage or mixing, so I'd come in looking at it as if it's its own thing. <3
We bought (1) pink one and (1) purple one for our daughters to play with. They LOVE them but for tie price, it needs to be rechargeable. The girls love the camera feature but you better have a Sams Club member ship so you can but batteries in bulk. They got these for Christmas and within 3hrs of playing with them, they each needed another set of brand new batteries. Now they just sit on my tool chest because the girls are tired of having to switch the the batteries out all the time.In addition, the touch controls are terrible. Luckily my kids persevered, but by the time I got done setting up the first one, I told my other daughter she was on her own. I was ready to pull my hair out.
Fun gift for all. Got this for my wife as she always talked about wanting one as a child. The setup process is nothing short of infuriating. I found it almost impossible to navigate and select things in the menu as the controls are inconsistent.Once you manage to navigate the menus and actually get to the game however, it only took my wife a few minutes to get the grips of the game. Our kids are constantly picking it up to check in her tamagotchi too.Camera is a neat little gimmick and adds a new element to the game too like taking pictures of real life foods to feed your tamagotchi.Only thing stopping the 5 stars is that infuriating setup phase. Great service from Smyth's as always though :)
First of all let’s straighten this I’m a kid who’s 8 years old. And let tell you that your not gonna get to go to school with thing around. This was so addicting if it died and I’m not talking battery I’m talking R.I.P. I regret blaming my mom for making it die. I loved this toy so much I talked about it every day at school with my friends. My teacher had toy tell me not to walk beside my friend. When I lost it felt like the end of the earth. When one day I lost it I figured out that it wasn’t the best thing in the world. And now I can live my life not always on a screen.
Zero star reviewDon’t buy it. I have to change battery everyday I play it only at night and keep it lowest brightness and no sound. When I do a test by just replacing a new battery without touching it. It can last 1.5 days. This is a totally design defect product. Highly not recommend
my daughter loved this at first, very cute, very easy to use. died after a week. why didnt they make it rechargeable? i cant afford new batteries every single week, thats crazy. it definitely should be rechargeable for the cost. shes so disappointed that she already cant play with it anymore.
