This second gen 28-75 is absolutely beautiful. The new design feels better in my hands and looks better also. The programmable button is a nice touch for sure! Great for focus locking! The lens is way more compact and lighter than the previous version, which is perfect. With that the lens from 28-50 almost feels like it has internal zoom. You don't notice the lens extend till a little passed that. Overall pics are sharp, quiet motor, lightning fast auto focus. My new overall go to lens for sure!

This lens ties all of my Sigma prime lenses in sharpness and keeps up or beats them with the autofocus in well light situations.

I LOVE this lens. It is so TACK sharp and Tamron addressed the weakenss of the gen 1 version which was soft images at 75mm wide open. The new version feels more solid overall not that the gen 1 version was a slouch. If you're in the market for a midrange zoom get this one. You will not regret it. Pay a little more and get the new one with no regrets. I've tried the Sigma 28 70. Again soft at the long end wide open. AF wasn't that great. The Sigma 24 70 is on par with the new Tamron optics wise but it's heavy and more expensive. Tamron hit a home run with the G2. It's near prime level sharp.

This lens gives them a run for the money, at least on my a7iii sensor (24MP). I had a few wide to tele lenses before this one, but f/2.8 has become a must for me and since I travel extensively, I didn't look favorably on the much heavier and/or significantly more expensive alternatives out there, the reviews were very positive, and I decided to go for it. I am not disappointed. This is an excellent lens. IQ is great and it is definitely more affordable the Sony's alternatives. I am very happy with this purchase.

If you are a hybrid shooter, this is a great lens for video too with and combined with something like the A7C/SIII/A7IV, focus pulls work well and look beautiful. When stopping down to F10 and above (F10 - F22), a noise comes from the lens (maybe the motor). When pressing the focus hold button, the sound stops--but restarts after releasing. I'm using two Sony FX3s (this happens on both of them).Lastly, I sent it to Tamron for warranty repair, and they stated their lens is not guaranteed to work on Cinema cameras, including the Sony FX3. Ironically, I tried it on the Sony A7SIII as well--same issues.
This Camera such a good start for beginners with perfect amount of zoom for wide shots and up close !! With a aperture of 2.8 to really let that light in dos the job very well for low light! Also the fact you cab zoom without the aperture changing is a plus !! Huge shoutout to The man at sony station for helping me find this lens also a body sony A7C i think his name is Leo!
