I agree with the other review here that this works more like an anti-glare screen with A LITTLE privacy protection. My wife can still see what I'm doing as we are sitting next to each other on the couch (even though I honestly didn't purchase it to hide what i'm doing from her). It only darkens what is happening on your screen but outlines and images can still can still be seen by others near by (I'll try to post some images to show what I'm talking about). You sort of can see what' going on but it is quite dark - the screen also gets dimmer a lot more so you need more brightness setting. - colors also get muted imo and the pop is missing - but it works well enough

I have an Alienware R4 laptop with a 17.3" screen. I bought this protector and it fits almost perfectly. There is about a one or two pixel vertical height difference once you install this. May not be a big deal for some, but I still notice it, hence the 4 stars. Once you turn your brightness down a bit, this screen works well. People behind you will be able to see of course, but those off to the sides will have a hard time especially when this is installed and the brightness is down. I used the tabs that insert under the bezel to fit my screen. This was tricky since the bezel is pretty tight to the screen. I inserted my tabs from the top corner of the bezel and slid it down to the bottom area of the bezel.

This serves it's function. I bought the 23.6" version and it fit my monitor exactly, so much so that between static and the close fit, I didn't even have to use any of the included mounting tabs. From angles it definitely blocks out the screen and is perfect for that function which was the main reason I bought it. I knocked off a star because it significantly darkens the screen for me sitting directly in front of it. I have the brightness turned all the way up and it still is a little darker than I'd like. Also, the very edges of my screen start to get darker since they're viewed at a little more of an angle and it kinda messes with me. This works exactly as I needed it to. I work graveyard shift in a small office with a security camera. I'm sorry, but to stay awake all night I need some form of distraction in the wee hours of the night, especially when there isn't a whole lot going on. I wanted something that would keep the security camera in the room from seeing what I'm doing on my laptop. I have access to the security feed and can verify that my screen shows up as completely black! There may be products of better quality and protection from up close, but if you're looking for something that will keep Big Brother from seeing what you're doing, this will likely do the trick.
Very expensive sheet of plastic.... Purchased for our HR department because too many people were coming in and out of her office and were able to see her screen from certain angles. Personally I may have just rearranged my desk to prevent this issue, but I guess a nearly $80 piece of polarized plastic will compensate for this. In my slight amount of time in from of her screen fixing an issue with one thing or another, I typically just take this hing off and set it aside. on a 24" acer (16:9 screen) the edges, if staring at the middle of the screen, are slightly dark. I find it rather annoying to have to move my head from side to side to keep the bright area of the screen in my field of view. Serves its purpose though... We use these screen protectors (we have bought 5 of them) at our office (healthcare) to protect our patient's information from prying eyes. They work really great, and are very easy to install (takes about 2-3 minutes). You can see the screen well when you are sitting straight on, but cannot see anything at all when viewing the monitor at an angle.
