I've made rice, chicken soup and cakes with it, and it's really a product worth recommending to friends!

I love the large capacity of the cooker, which is perfect for preparing meals for my family or when entertaining guests. The automatic shut-off feature is a great safety feature for me, ensuring that my food is always cooked to perfection.

Best Affordable Rice cooker

Great rice cooker. The way it works is a double boiler, which doesn't directly heat the rice pot but instead heats it with steam from boiled water below it. This lets the rice come out nice and fluffy, without ever sticking to the bottom.

Built to last

In the past i was using direct heat rice cooker but the indirect heat Tatung cooks rice soft,not dry. The tatung is completely stainless steel so it will last

Do not forget to add water into the main heat pot. I am still figure it out the right level of water to add on. Overall, it is a good rice cooker. My firend has been using the same model for long time. $99 for me with free ship.

Great cooker....

There is a stick on the outside and an insert in the instructions that says the cooker will not go into Warmer mode once it is done cooking, but every time it is done cooking it snaps into Warmer mode and keeps the food warm. I'm not sure why they would say that this feature does not work, but it does.

Love this rice cooker

I am from the country where this rice cooker generated, Taiwan. I have been using this brand for over ten years and love it. I use it to cook different kinds of food including rice (of course), chicken soup, cakes (believe or not), and reheat the food.

Stainless rusted out

Functionally it worked well, it cooked rice as I expected and the water did not overflow out of the pot; but the bottom surface of the outer pot rusted out. I paid high price for the stainless material and was disappointed. Also the large sticker(for instruction) on the out side of the cooker was hard to remove which made the cooker was not as shinny as it could be

This must be the best kitchen appliance that I've ever purchased. I hesitate to even call it a rice cooker, as I make almost every meal with it these days. Steams both long and short grain brown rice to perfection each time using the measuring instructions included in the user manual. Cooks quinoa, oatmeal, whole oats, frozen foods, etc. with ease. Frozen gnocchi comes out ten times better than from the microwave, as it cooks food with steam. My only complaint is actually more of a convenience issue: After cooking rice, I would usually set aside the inner rice pot covered with the inner lid and then cook meats and vegetables in the outer pot. I looked into getting the optional steamer trays, but as other reviews have mentioned, they do not work with the supplied inner pot since it's too tall. Other foods also do not cook at the same speed as rice, so it's better to cook them after the rice has finished. Rather than getting the steamer trays, I called Tatung and ordered a second stainless steel inner pot. Unlike some other brands, Tatung sells these for a reasonable price (not marked up to half the price of the cooker as I've seen elsewhere). Now I cook rice in the first inner pot, cover it with the inner lid, and cook meats & vegetables in the second inner pot, either with or without the steamer insert (it fits into the inner pot as well as the outer pot). This makes cleaning up the outer pot a breeze, just boil some vinegar and water whenever the mineral buildup gets heavy! It's so easy to clean the inner pots in the sink, almost every kind of food comes right off either right away or with a little soaking. So, this rice cooker has seriously changed my life! I feel that I'm eating more nutritious food, no worries over aluminum leaching into my meals, and it really doesn't take much longer than the microwave. I highly recommend this model to anyone looking for a new rice cooker, it costs a little more for the extra stainless steel than the models with the aluminum outer pot, but looks great in the kitchen and provides peace of mind that there's no aluminum contamination. Wish I had bought this years ago and saved myself the effort of cleaning up after my previous rice cooker!

Incidentally, Newegg's price is the lowest around. I only wish they still carried the Tatung Tac-S02 3-piece accessory set. That also was the best price around.
