I was excited to see a NEW product in this line, so had to order it immediately (I always have 3-4 TOBS shaving creams on the go b/c I like the variety!). I love this new one. Great lather, and I like the new scent. I'm not one of those who can identify all the nuances (like when people mention 'amber', 'iris', 'oakmoss' etc) but I'd say that, overall, this has a sort of crisp green-apple scent, but blended with a forest-y scent that 'tones down' the apple (in a GOOD way! b/c I wouldn't like it so much if it just smelt like apples - that would be overpowering!). It's fresh and invigorating. Whether you already like TOBS shaving creams, or are thinking of trying out the brand for the first time, I highly recommend this one.

Recently I purchased this shave cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street Shaving Cream Bowl, Royal Forest. I’ve always likes TOB creams, but this one is extra special! Wonderful masculine scent, not too strong but makes its presence known. Very voluminous, thick cushion and the glide is wonderful. This will become my new staple.GET SOME!!!

The Cream is great BUT it looks like it melted in heat and reformed. Most Taylor Shaving Cream is soft and creamy. This opened as hard. It still laters up well and is awesome but it was different than others I have purchased. I have heard of this issue before.

I began with TOBS Sandalwood. Classic, but is is a nearly overpowering sandalwood scent. I gave Cedarwood a try. OK, but not exciting. I next tried Royal Forest and preferred it to the other two, but Eton College was beckoning. It proved to be a very soft cream compared to the others; more like my memory of Art of Shaving cream.I liked the Eton College scent well enough, but on my next order, I returned to Royal Forest. For me, it hits the scent sweet spot: sophiscacted and pleasant aroma. Its hint of citrus is most pleasing and lends it a sharper top-note. Each cream is top-notch in terms of its slickness, ease of lathering, and price point. My experience is not very broad among shaving soaps. But once I found a couple of blade/razor combinations (Karve Christopher Bradley w/ Gillette Silver Blue and Edwin Jagger 3One6 w/ Feather New Hi Stainless) that work, a bracing aftershave (currently varying Fine Accoutrements’ Fresh Vetiver and Green Vetiver, and a decent aftershave balm (sorry WCS, but it’s Nivea for Men), why keep bouncing around? Once you’ve put together a dependable, great shaving experience, why risk a bad one just to try something new?
Kevy Shaves reviewed TOBS Royal Forest. Scoffing at the name, he said the scent reminded him of Creed Aventus, a scent with which I am not familiar. I thought I'd see if I could sample that only to find out it is very, very expensive, yet very popular. Swallowing hard, I ordered a tub of Royal Forest. Its the usual TOBS quality and, as usual, at an affordable price point for the quality. It's a very pleasant scent, not strong though -- maybe a 4 on a 10 scale. It doesn't linger. I later read a review that said Fine "Platinum" aftershave also mimics Creed Aventus, so throwing caution to the winds and spending more on the aftershave than the shaving cream, I order a bottle. They are complementary. Neither is an overly powerful scent. The aftershave lingers a bit ... MoreKevy Shaves reviewed TOBS Royal Forest. TOBS products are high quality across the board no doubt about it- great protective creams that build amazing lather. I'm not a big fan of some their scents though. The exceptions are:-St. James, Eton College and Jermyn Street.Royal Forest has the expected high quality lather but the scent is confusing to me. Sort of citrus, sort of vetiver (although I don't believe vetiver is actually in there). Not unpleasant at all but not the greatest in my opinion. Despite the scent, very nice quality cream though. To be fair, my father really likes the Royal Forest scent and puts it up there with the Eton College- one of his favorites. I recommend this product though. Scent preference is very subjective, so you may try it and have a new favorite!
Fantastic new product from TOBS. This is not a "Pure Lime" like Castle Forbes. It has other notes which enhance the lime and give it a unique scent like no other "lime". Very refreshing scent in a class by itself. Protective and slick. A small amount makes nearly instant mounds of perfect lather. Highly recommended if you like citrus scents with a little kick.
The quality of shaving with TOOBS shaving cream was a great experience 5-10 years ago, but is now lacking. if I order the lavender and peppermint, I hope they will be as potent as they were 7 or 8 years ago - when I last used them. Royal Forest smells nice, but its potency is greatly lacking. Also, perhaps it's just me, but besides having a weaker scent the container seems to have decreased in size to go with a 5-7 dollar hike in the price. I'll try them one more time but if the scent is still lacking, I'll be finished with TOOBS.
Just ordered this and have had about 5 runs with it. It is a great performer, slick and good cushion. The smell is wonderful. So wonderful that I got the aftershave balm and splash in this scent. It has a Creed Aventus smell, nice masculine smell. On sale, its a no brainer. Must have for the shave den. Wife likes the smell as well, so its a win win. Even if you're looking for a performer, you cant go wrong with any of TOBS products. I have sensitive skin and this worked well for me. Again, for me ! I enjoy the hot lathers when using TOBS, especially when its cold out. Give it a try, you wont be dissapointed.
This is one of the best smelling, easiest to lather shaving creams I've ever used. First, the scent: I'm not good at olfactory descriptions but it's a mix of outdoors and sweetness. Out of my creams this is my wife's favorite scent. Second, the lather: it doesn't take much at all to get this thing working and I'm not the best in the world at making lather. There's really not any negative news to report here. Even the cushion it provides is great - I've had nothing but smooth shaves with Royal Forest. It's a great value and much better than these higher-priced artisan soaps on the market.
