TC Electronic Ditto Looper Pedal
TC Electronic Ditto Looper Product Overview by GAKThe TC Electronic Ditto Looper is the only pedal looper pedal designed specifically for guitarists, by guitarists and is a must-have addition to your setup. The Ditto Looper has just one control knob which does what it says on the tin, quite simply letting you set the level of your loops. It also provides five minutes of looping time, which is probably more than you'll ever need! Alongside this, it performs with five different essential foot-commands (record, undo/redo, stop and erase) so it has everything you need whether you're building loops, adding layers to a song, changing from one part to the next live or just getting rid of those parts you're not happy with. The pedal also features True Bypass, which means when it's turned off there's no risk of it influencing your tone, giving you ultimate clarity and zero loss of high-end. Additionally, the Analog Dry-Through means your sound will never be converted to digital, ensuring that you keep your original tone with zero latency. Alongside the essential features of the Ditto Looper, it has also been engineered to fit into a very compact design which avoids compromising important pedalboard space, so there really is no going wrong!

So I play at least twice weekly in a wedding band, and occasionally felt that some parts of the set needed thickening up so my bass player suggested a looper pedal. I disregarded his comments for a couple of months because I hate having too many switched to faff around with (especially with the gig sweat meaning I can't actually see), then bit the bullet and bought this. After a bit of practice and getting used to the pedal (which you'd expect with any pedal) I was good to go. Now I feel naked without it on my board.I have two gripes to make, although they are not about this pedal. Firstly, look at the picture of the thing: does it look as though its big enough to take a 9v battery? Perfect for practicing. Lay down a simple rhythm loop then you can practice over the top - it's like having an inexhaustible rhythm guitarist jamming with you. Easy overdubs & undos means you can also build up interesting sounds with lots of depth and different sounds. (tip: play your progression through, then without stopping hit the button on the 'one' beat to start recording, then hit it again on another 'one' beat to stop recording/start playing the loop. can be as many bars long as you like - 5 min recording time is way more than I'd ever need!) Of course if you need the complication of a drum machine built in to your looper pedal then this one isn't for you). The sound out of this thing is perfect. I use it with many pedals and they all sound great recorded and played back (an analog delay, a few fuzzes, metal zone, overdrive, distortion, phaser, big muffs, small clone, tube screamer) - just be sure to put the looper last in your pedal chain. I'd highly recommended this to anyone thinking about getting a looper. The build quality is great, the button feels sturdy & it's very small. The only thing I'd change about it would be to add the ability to export your recorded loop via the usb, but on this model the usb is only for updating it's firmware. I think the more expensive ditto loopers have this function... but overall I think it's the best pedal I've ever owned!

This is just plain fun. One touch lays down up to 5 min of loop. Using shorter loops takes a little practice (like the guitar, no?) because it starts recording as soon as you stomp the button; you have to be ready to start, and ready to hit the pedal again as soon as you're done, else you'll end up with a blank hiccup at the beginning/end of each repetition. Once you get a feel for the timing, it becomes intuitive and easy, although I haven't yet mastered overlaying many tracks. I also appreciate the true feedthrough idea, so that the guitar isn't affected by the pedal during playback. Feels like good quality, solid. Take the 10 minutes it takes to get used to it, then just enjoy the thing. This has made my practice so much more fun, and so much more effective, ... MoreThis is just plain fun. Double tap while your trying to Sing and Play your instrument... Anddd stay in time?? Not Easy to double Tap to stop. The recording that comes out is never quite the same Volume. Its very unbalanced as you record multiple Tracks. Its Priced well. Very Durable. Compact. Great for starting out, price friendly and great to learn on. In the end you will want Something Better. JMO Ditto 2 is Fantastic ( in Theory) it allows you to Tap once to stop. Record is much better. BUT... Ive Owned 3 and each one Glitched out, defective, any where between 2 months to a year. If improved electronics on Ditto 2 it would be a Perfect Looper. Its too bad really. I gave it 3 purchase tries. I still own The Ditto Looper as a Backup. Its got very reliable electronics. I've had this puppy for a solid week now, and I can say, I am having an absolute blast with it! It is expanding my creativity while I play guitar, and i'm constantly itching to see what else I can come up with while looping with it. It does have some downfalls, but at this price point you can't expect too much. For example: it only works off of one channel essentially, so if you want to lay a background track and put some lead on top of it, it will all be the same channel (not a delay channel, or anything else). I think the looper 2 and above allow for different channel looping. But that's not a big deal to me just yet, just having fun exploring what I can do with it and definitely enjoying myself while I am at it! This little puppy is worth the money, and I will ... MoreI've had this puppy for a solid week now, and I can say, I am having an absolute blast with it! I currently own a few TC pedals and have been happy with the effects they produce. When I saw the TC Ditto Looper I was expecting the same quality effect. The Pros: it is easy to use, built well, has good sound during play back, has a small footprint on your pedalboard, and is priced for most budgets. The big negative was during playback your guitar/instrument volume cannot mix, blend, or compete on the same volume level. I believe this may have more to do with the amp and/or guitar splitting the signal into the amp. The end result is during playback your guitar volume is extremely low or drops out and tends to cut into the volume of the Ditto's output. The Ditto has a record output volume control that should be able to compensate for the live guitars volume during ... MoreI currently own a few TC pedals and have been happy with the effects they produce. I believe this may have more to do with the amp and/or guitar splitting the signal into the amp. The end result is during playback your guitar volume is extremely low or drops out and tends to cut into the volume of the Ditto's output. The Ditto has a record output volume control that should be able to compensate for the live guitars volume during playback, but it doesn't. I think the best example would be if you were to invite another guitarist over to jam thinking you could just use a Y-spliter to allow two guitars to be plugged in and played through the same amp at the same time. If you tried this you would know that the guitars compete for the signal and the volumes can never be adjusted to blend together. The only way you could have a true play along scenario with the TC Ditto is to have a A/B box and 2 amps to allow amp "A" strictly for playback and amp "B" for your guitar. An A/B box and two amps or mixer with multiple channels is your only hope for jamming along with your TC Ditto. In conclusion, If you are just looking to record a few melodies or lead riffs and want to hear a quick playback then the TC Looper will fit the bill. However, if you thought you were buying a Looper that you could record a rhythm on your guitar then play a lead riff during playback, your not going to be happy with the TC Looper. Good luck and keep jamming
Perfectly does what is promised. Tiny, bulletproof, ultra-simple, stellar sound quality, infinite loops that overlap seamlessly a the loop point. Could easily be used live if you just need something no nonsense and intuitive.NOTE: 5-minute record time is actually maybe a little less than I'd like available in this unit -- (the Jam Man mini, or whatever it's called, has 10 minutes, so you may want to consider that only if you need 10 minutes -- but that's a full sized pedal that does nothing the DITTO can't do -- and if you're at that point you probably actually need a more advanced and pricey looper for writing, storing, and/or performing purposes)But as a simple, tiny, useful, hi-fidelity, jam/idea/performance buddy that will fit on any board...you must have it. One of my best purchases -- and it leaves room for another pedal or two!
My first looper. Because this does not use battery and does not ship with power supply, I got a 9v 300mA power supply for it. Looper did not work, lost all volume. Contacted seller, and they happily replaced and paid for shipping replacement. Replacement behaved like the first one. I took to a guitar shop and tried with their power supply, worked as advertised. Turns out the power supply I bought first was putting out more than 9v despite the 9v rating. The Ditto Looper manufacturer had indicated that it was likely a power supply problem, and they were correct. Thankfully, no damage to the looper. Once I had the proper power supply the looper worked great. Now I can play backup track, then add more with guitar, fiddle, etc. Great little gadget for hours of fun and ... MoreMy first looper. I started with a Digitech Trio+. While it is an awesome pedal, I wanted something more simple and doesn't take a lot of real estate. It is small and simple and works for exactly what I am looking for, though I must admit, the storage options on the Trio+ was a great feature I wish this Ditto had. Nonetheless, I bought exactly what I was looking for at the time. I am playing through a Epiphone Custom Signature Bjorn Gelotte Les Paul with active 81/85 EMG's > Zakk Wylde Crybaby Wah > Boss Metal Core ML-2 > Boss Distortion DS-1 > Boss Chorus Ensemble CE-5 > MXR Phase 90 > MXR Carbon Copy Delay > TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb > MXR EVH Flanger > MXR Dyna Comp > TC Electronic Ditto Looper > TC Electronic polytune 2 > Marshall DSL40CR. *Photo is older, by a few weeks, ... MoreI started with a Digitech Trio+. Perfect for practice, good enough to record ideas with and even use for small events. Easy to use. Handy, you can lay down a riff or a Beat/tempo and play over the top anytime. Can be used for any instrument with an out-put or pickup. With a small mic preamp you could try vocal harmonies too.
