I was going to buy another model from another store, but my daughter went online and found this great deal. So I ordered online, sight unseen, hoping for the best.It arrived in short order, and I was amazed at how the box the TV came in was actually heavier than the TV itself. Times sure have changed. In any case, it was very easy to set up. There is a bit of a learning curve, as the menus in the Google TV are fairly layered. There was some guidance from the TV software itself, which was a nice touch. The remote control unit was a nice size, and the voice commands worked flawlessly for me. It's a great feature to have. My decision to go with a Google TV instead of a Roku was a good fit for me.The sound quality from the TV itself was so-so (but better than I expected). I'm very fussy about audio quality, and I wasn't intending on using the internal speakers anyway, as I already own a soundbar. There are plenty of options for audio output. The eARC port is handy, but I couldn't seem to get the volume level to go high enough for me. I opted for the Bluetooth output for now, until I can contact TCL support and see if there's a way to boost the HDMI audio output.Picture quality is more than ample for an older guy like myself. It seemed a bit odd watching UHD-quality video through YouTube, which I can only appreciate when close to the screen. Overall, I didn't expect lush colours or perfect imaging at this price. For that, you need to spend a lot more money, which I wasn't about to do. My wife's standards are much lower than my own, so if I'm happy with it, she's happy with it and then some.TCL's reliability is what I'm hoping for. I don't think you can beat the picture quality at this price point without doing a lot of comparison shopping. I also liked using a USB drive to watch my stored videos/movies too. Navigation throughout the TV firmware is as easy as can be and snappy enough for me.Overall, I'm quite happy with my purchase.

No problem with the TV. It was the personnel in your store that was horrible. Actually, I don’t know if I will go back to the Boynton Beach store again. The first TV we purchased we only had for one hour when my husband came home from work we took it out of the box and noticed that it was cracked. We returned it, and the man that stands at the door at the desk, he wouldn’t even look at us and he was so rude. It was just unbelievable. Told us we must’ve put our finger on it and cracked it which was totally ridiculous because we bought several TVs from you already and none of them have ever been cracked and we waited for my husband to get home so him and my son could take it out of the box gently. Nobody wanted to do it, and it didn’t seem like they were very busy . The young lady that was at the desk she was so sweet and kept apologizing for them. No need to apologize for their rudeness. The guy that had half black hair and half blonde hair was also quite rude. He didn’t want to help pick up the TV. Very bad experience. Probably won’t stop there again but thank you for your concern .

[Rewarded Review] Decent display but lackluster performance
28 July 2024

The display quality is pretty good for the price after a bit of color calibration from rtings.com and it packs in a lot of features for customising the picture and sound. That is all where the good part ends and is let down by the atrocious performance of this TV. The first few weeks it all seemed fine with occasional lags while scrolling through the homepage but after a month of using it has become super slow to a point of being unusable with the amount of crashes and slowdowns i've been facing since the past few weeks. It does have this bug where the Wi-Fi stops working even though it shows that it's connected in the settings but has no internet. It does have this bug where the Wi-Fi stops working even though it shows that it's connected in the settings but has no internet. While starting any movie on Netflix or YouTube video the first few seconds stay completely dark with the audio stuttering in the background. If that's not all, the video playback skips frames at any random time along with the audio becoming choppy which becomes a constant nuisance while trying to get immersed in the content. I've factory reset it, cleared app cache/data and tried everything but it does not improve anything which takes away from the whole experience of using this tv. I am not sure if it's weak chipset to blame or Google TV being so resource heavy to a point of being unoptimized. I have never left 1 star reviews for any product I've owned till date but using this has been nothing more than an headache everytime and it's already a month past it's return period which is unfortunate. Me being a fan of Android it absolutely pains me to see the state of it's TV OS is in right now. My previous Sharp TV with Roku OS had a far snappier UX which I sold off to buy this and I regret this decision every day. I highly recommend anyone to steer clear from this and look for alternate options.

[Rewarded Review] Decent image but not a keeper
13 November 2023

Come on folks, this is not a 5 star TV, you can’t buy that for in 43” below $200, let’s get real for a minute. It is a decent image, but not in same class as really good 43’ers, mostly due to lack of peak brightness, it’s pretty dark at max brightness. I’m the type of person who immediately gets into advanced settings to try to find best possible viewing. This TV can be “calibrated” for slight improvement compared to out of box, but not much. The settings are limited. It’s cheaply built, felt almost fragile coming out of box, it would probably crack the case with a minor drop. The little legs are plastic and screw into plastic fittings, not pre-threaded holes. The viewing angle is the worst I’ve seen of any TV, which I guess is fine if you will only ever see it ... MoreCome on folks, this is not a 5 star TV, you can’t buy that for in 43” below $200, let’s get real for a minute. The viewing angle is the worst I’ve seen of any TV, which I guess is fine if you will only ever see it from dead straight on. It is very lightweight. Sound was pretty good from built in speakers. Didn’t have it long enough to learn if sound was adjustable.I returned it because I’m more interested in image quality than cheapest possible price. If you want a bargain TV to see all the actors facial pores then go for it, if you want a nice TV with wide viewing angle and very nice image then look for a better, I.e. more expensive, alternative.

[Rewarded Review] Great set for the price
27 December 2023

Although we have an ultra short throw projector (for a 4K/150" image) it was way too big for the living room of the house we recently bought. We toyed with a motorized screen but again that did not work so its going in a home theatre in the basement. I decided to get a mid range TV for usual viewing. I have a Dolby Atmos 7.1 sound system already and an OPPO203 4K player. However I did not want to go overboard on the TV as I am working on that big screen room downstairs. After reviewing, I decided to get the TCL 65" set.The TV takes around 20 minutes to initialize and set up. In that time there are screen savers to let you know its working away behind the scenes.Out of the box it has factory settings so I suggest that you spend a while calibrating the various sliders to meet your preferences. I for example don't want movies shot on film to have an artificially high frame rate making them look like a football game, so I switched off the smooth motion settings. I set the image to Cinema (Its slightly warm but you can correct this elsewhere on the menu) and the audio is a matter of taste Live gives excellent dialogue clarity, movie gives your movies some bass.Black levels are somewhat light. The regular image is however, very good indeed and I am very picky. However, connect a 4K HDR input at this TV comes alive. The image for the price is stunning. I tried a few movies and shows of different ages and filming media KL's the Good The Bad and The Ugly - so clear you can see the sweat in the pores of the actors!; Star Trek The Motion Picture Director's Edition - best I have seen it including in 79 at the theatre; House of the Dragon (digitally shot) - simply breathtaking. Certain blu-ray movies look ridiculously good on this set up; Patton (1970) could have been filmed last week, whilst streamed content (The Abyss SE 1989) is so sharp you can count the hairs on the back of a characters neckThere are a few minus points. The aforementioned audio, whilst perfectly serviceable, is not up to the standard of Dolby Atmos you would get from a sound bar or dedicated speaker system. It certainly does not produce the sound envelope my old spare set does.On screen displays. I cannot see a way to turn off these pop ups so every time the signal changes or there is a new title on a disc or file there's at least one pop up "DOLBY ATMOS" or "DTS" on the left and the input and signal resolution at the right "OPPO 2013 3840x2160@24fps" for example. These are minor niggles. I am watching this TV far more than I expected and our nephews loved it with their online gaming at the weekend before Christmas. I mainly watch YouTube or discs/files and again for that its idealAs an entry level set its a winner

[Rewarded Review] Great value for price, even offers free live TV!

This TV offers great value for it’s price. As someone who enjoys gaming, and watching movies I was happy to see that there were preset TV settings for gaming or watching movies. The TV offers free live television, including local and non-local news stations. It comes with an app store in which you could install your favorite entertainment apps from YouTube to HBO Max. Basically, it does everything a Roku does, but for a cheaper price!I had a Roku before I bought this TV, and I was surprised to see how much the Roku brand has gone up in price. There was another Roku 43” TV for around $50-$100 more! That’s simply an idiotic move to buy the Roku TV.I genuinely never heard of this brand before I took a trip to Best Buy. Not sure if it’s been around long or not, but either way it’s good quality for the price. If you want all the bells and whistles, then go for a higher end TV with better specs. Be prepared for that to cost more though.I’d say those who don’t care so much for the highest quality viewing experience, then this is the TV for you. I found it more than good enough from my watching and gaming experience! For the price, I give this TV 5 stars! I highly recommend this TV if you only want to spend $200 or so. I paid $213.99.

[Rewarded Review] Seemed a good deal, but only if it worked right.

The TV "looked" new. It was sealed, but the first thing I noticed was that the instructions for mounting the TV said to remove the existing 4 screws. I only had 2 to remove since 2 were missing. Then I noticed that the cable connection was cross threaded making it difficult to screw in the connector. I tuned in one of my paid services, and the picture showed a lot of lost detail in the shadows. I went through advanced and expert calibration settings and still couldn't bring up the shadow detail with out thinning out the overall image too much. Then I noticed that the picture would go slightly lighter and darker at times. I checked to make sure no power saving modes were on, and they weren't. In TV mode the picture was better, but after 3 days of owning this set, flickering horizontal lines appeared in every mode. I have a separate TV antenna from my router, so I know it was a fault in the set. I checked my connections, and they were fine, and everything is plugged into a >3,000 joules surge protector. It's a shame, I liked the remote and features, but if this wasn't a previously purchased TV, then the missing screws, cross threaded connector, the loss of detail in shadow areas, and the flickering lines appearing on the 3rd day of ownership indicate poor construction and quality control. Oh well, Memorial Day sales are coming up.

TCL TVs have gained popularity in recent years for offering impressive features at affordable prices. I had the opportunity to review a TCL TV, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by its performance and value for money. One of the standout features of the TCL TV was its picture quality. The display was vibrant, with accurate colors and good contrast. Whether I was watching movies, TV shows, or playing games, the visuals were crisp and enjoyable. The TV also supported high dynamic range (HDR) content, which further enhanced the picture quality by providing a wider range of colors and improved contrast. The TCL TV also impressed me with its user-friendly interface. The menu navigation was intuitive, making it easy to access different settings and apps. It had a variety of streaming apps pre-installed, such as Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube, allowing me to enjoy a wide range of content without the need for additional devices. In terms of sound quality, the TCL TV performed adequately. The built-in speakers produced clear audio, but they lacked the depth and richness that dedicated external speakers can provide. Connecting external speakers or a soundbar would be recommended for a more immersive audio experience.Design-wise, the TCL TV I reviewed had a sleek and modern appearance. The bezels were relatively thin, giving it a more immersive feel, and the overall build quality was satisfactory. It blended well with my living room decor and added a touch of elegance.Connectivity options on the TCL TV were decent, with multiple HDMI ports, USB ports, and built-in Wi-Fi for easy access to online content. I found it convenient to connect my gaming console, Blu-ray player, and other devices without any hassle.Considering the performance, features, and affordability, I believe TCL TVs offer excellent value for money. While they may not match the premium features and picture quality of higher-end brands, they provide a solid viewing experience at a more budget-friendly price point. If you are looking for a reliable and affordable TV option, TCL is certainly worth considering.
