Visually this turntable is stunning and the sound quality with my old Stanton 681EEE is fantastic. One feature I like is the ability to change the light colors from red to blue.A few minor complaints...the dust cover has no hinges and thus just sits on top...fine if your are using this for DJ work, annoying for home use...and the design of the power on/off switch makes it a bit harder to turn on/off. The tone arm movement on cueing is a bit stiff, but that may work out over time and the locking button on the tone arm height adjust is stiff. These are just minor things than in no way affect my love of this turntable. All in all, for the fan of Technics Direct Drive turntables, this checks all the boxes.

This is exclusive and Limited. So if you are lucky enough to get your hands on one, just do it.Its new, so dont compare to the old. The Iconic design and appearance has been crried over to a new and very capable direct drive motor design while keeping the tried and true low mass tonearm and fully adjustable design. Not bought for DJ purposes, its nice to know I can control pitch, Cartridges of my choice, platter material changes for vta tweaks and much more. The tonearm weight and VTA allows for a multitude of so many Cartridges in the Market today. Love the low mass effective weight tonearm and already have 4 different cartridges lined up behind an Opus3. Tbe Engraved Gold 50th Anniversary Plate is a Beautiful touch.Could not be happier.Pete S.

What else is there to say about Technics turntables? They are nearly bulletproof and idiotproof. My turntable arrived very well packed and assembled quickly. Just follow the instructions in order and you can't go wrong. I added an Audio-Technica VM540ML/H cartridge & headshell combo. The result is gorgeous, clean sound. My only real complaint is that the dust cover does not attach to the turntable base and there is no way to retrofit it. Technics has chosen to remove the hinge hardware mount spots on the plinth. Very, very lame. Not only do I now feel anxious every time I set the sizable dust cover aside when I want to use my turntable, I also have to worry about pets and wayward humans knocking the tone arm when the turntable is in use. So that's why I'm taking off one star. It's not a reflection on B&H, though. My online shopping experience and delivery were flawless.

Order a set MK7 on Friday the 7th of January, got delivered on Monday!! Real quick shipment!!Been running the MK2 for 25 Years. After testing the MK7 for a week, great Turntable.A couple of dipswitches beneath the platter can activate 78RPM for those who need it, activate reverse and even change the LED color to blue.In comparison to the MK2, it's just lovely to just plug is the separate cables, AC cable is grounded, RCA is slight thicker as well as the ground cable.Popup light works very well, +7 pitch is no issue.Double boxed,In the package: headshell, stickers, warranty, manual, 7" 45 adapter, tonearm weight, and a Technics slipmat. The MK7 pitch is digital in comparison to the MK2 pitch which was analog. The new improved MK7 version of the Technics, a familar face but with a few new tricks and bits, which improve on what has been the industry standard for 50 years. MK2 had a built in ground and audio cable, these MK7 have an area where you can attach and detach the leads ... which saves on the longevity of the leads especially if you have good audio cables. The turntables are sturdy though they are lighter than the MK2. I'm still a lil bit on the fence with the pitch, but I am coming from using Numark TTX's which responded great, the pitch is good probs just me and takes a bit of getting used to. Overall a fantastic purchase, love them.
Decided to Splurge on this turntable. Man it outperforms the minimalist audiophile turntable in my opinion. The pro-ject and the rega's turntable is nice but it lacks the attraction that comes from the technics The built of it so attractive in any way you put it: on table, on the floor, or on a set up. This will be your last turntable. Technics never misses.
Very fine turntable, fantastic looks and very smooth operation. I really appreciate the interchangeble cable option and the settings on the torque and the led colour. However craftsmenship is far from perfect. Firstly, the tonearm lift is far worse then on the mk2, it even makes a squeaking noise when lifting the tonearm. The target light assembly is a cheap-feel solution, but at least it is led and bright. So bright that it reflects directly into your eyes from the side of the platter. Not very convenient. Otherwise I recommend this for home/hobby DJ use. I think the audiophile community will not appreciate these issues that I just mentioned. But in terms of operation, I find this really a joy to play and mix with.
This is where the Technics journey all started with regards to Technics competing in the stakes to make rugged, usable turntables with Direct Drive motors and excellent build and sound qualities unrivalled in lesser decks. There was a high end Technics deck prior to this launch in 1972, but doesnt have the pedigree for what followed later in late 1978/79 when the Technics 1200 Mk2 was conceived. These started life as a high quality home use turntables that were not intended for taking on the road or DJing with, but due to the heavy build and good quality sound and adjustable pitch, were being used just for that purpose. People were learning to spin records on these decks. It was because of this that Technics decided that a revamp was required to make it a more easy to use DJ turntable with sturdier feet and a different arm and pitch adjust fader with quartz lock to hold the speed. This was the legendary MK2 that so many people strive for today as the birth of the most iconic DJ Turntable, but it all started with this one and had the MK1 not been invented, there would be no MK2. I have not heard or owned a MK2 and various forums rave about the MK2s superiority over the MK1. In my opinion I think not. Yes there are arm improvements in the MK2 and the pitch fader and lock, but if you want a high quality turntable that will only gather in value, then the MK1 is the one to buy if you want to use it solely for home use. Taking it on the road then get the MK2. I have tried this with the gold Stanton 500 and it sings and have also used it with the Shure M75 6 s and it sings even better. The preference is yours based on what other equipment and era its from and whether you are listening to old or new vinyl, or both. Worth every penny
I have waited some time to treat myself to a new turntable. I had been very happy with the Sony PS3300 that I brought in 1978, one of the first and best direct drive turntables of its era. Careful research led me first to the Technics 1500, but the Technics released the latest 1200 series Mk 7 and I felt that if reviews were anything to go by, that apart from the cheaper feel, that I really haven't noticed, that I would be very happy with this choice. So far I gave purchased, really competitive price and great price from Richer Sounds and then easy set up and play through my Technics Receiver. My speaker system are self built from an old set of Wharfdale Linton 3xp's and Kef Cadenzas. So far an evening with classics such as Carmina Burana (Deuches Gramaphone) and ... So far an evening with classics such as Carmina Burana (Deuches Gramaphone) and also Gilbert and Sullivan as well as further selections from the Who, to Supertramp, 10cc and Elron John have all served to demonstrate the adaptability of this turntable. It completely enables the full sound of each track to be offered as if a genuine master tape. I have tried an Ortfon cartridge as recommended, but find a Shure N75 ED MK2 to offer the purest sound. I couldn't be more chuffed with this purchase.
It's Great!Personally, I use as an Audiophile, not DJ.It's still weighs in at 21 lbs. It's new Forget the comparisons to the Iconic past. There are changes for the better with the direct drive motor design, while keeping the original designs of the tonearm and effective mass being low enough to accommodate nearly every cartridge in the Market today. The Color options separate it from history and the Engraved plate 50th Anniversary in Gold is a beautiful touch. It's gorgeous.Peter S.
Technics Sl1200 Mk7 Premium Direct Drive Turntable (Silver)
FeaturesCoreless Direct Drive Motor Achieving Stable RotationThe direct drive system uses a slow-turning motor to directly drive the platter. This system has various advantages. It offers high performance, such as rotation accuracy and powerful torque, does not require replacement of parts and maintains high reliability over a long period of time. On the other hand, the direct drive system was said to produce a rotation irregularity called cogging. For the SL-1210MK7, a new coreless direct drive motor was developed. This motor employs a coreless stator. The removal of the core iron core from the stator eliminated the root cause of cogging. Furthermore, the magnetic force of the rotor magnets was improved to the highest possible level, and the gap between the coreless stator and rotor magnets was optimised, thus achieving high-torque-performance equaling that of the SL-1210MK5. Boasting smooth rotation and powerful torque, this motor reproduces sound accurately and faithfully from t.
