When left to stop hissing and bubbling, it lets out a huge plume of steam and starts spewing water again. Tefal claim the faceplate isn't hot enough but you are unable to adjust the temperature with this iron. We've resorted to using our 15 year old iron. Avoid at all costs!!

I bought this iron as a replacement for a very old steam generator iron and I am really pleased with the results. Shirts are crease free, it easily detects different types of clothing and adjusts, the steam pressure and boost are both good. The iron is light weight and super easy to fill up. I would highly recommend. It makes ironing quicker and easier with fantastic results. Price point is the only downfall but that's the only thing I can grumble about.

I bought this to replace my old Tefal Steam Generator Iron (which sadly is no longer available). On the positive side, the steam power is impressive and it sailed through my ironing with ease. Unfortunately, I had to stop after 30 minutes as it is very uncomfortable to hold and it gave me blisters - the handle has sharp plastic edges which dig into my hand. I think I'll have to iron with gloves on in future. Another couple of niggles - the water reservoir is black so it is very hard to see how much water is left, and that too has a sharp plastic edge in the handle so when it is full its painful to lift. And the iron, whilst much lighter than my old one, is also very unstable and easily tips over backwards, and also quite tricky to slot onto the base for storage.

It's ok. It irons well and does so efficiently but it's more inconvenient than my previous two Tefal steam generators as it doesn't have an electrical cord storage hole and the steam hose storage is awkward to use as requires both hands to feed it through. All in all it's quite expensive and I am mystified by why the designers have made the changes that they have. It was purchased to replace a faulty (and awfully noisy) SV8155 iron that we had to send back after a week and it is better than that one, though that isn't saying much. Group SEB / Tefal management - you need to fire your design team and bring back designers who actually use their own products.
This iron is quite honestly a game changer. I used to hate ironing, I'd dread doing it with my old iron which was cheap but not so cheerful. I was very sceptical about spending a lot of money on an iron but I must tell you, it's so worth it! It cuts your time ironing time in half, you're not going over the same bit over and over again, you don't even need to turn your clothing as the steam is so powerful. Last but not least the steam output is just phenomenal, it's literally a jet stream full of steam which eliminates creases in a matter of seconds! The only downsides which are very minor are you might need to put the tank on a separate table as the weight might be too heavy for a regular ironing board, the cables are quite fiddly which makes storage not so ... MoreThis iron is quite honestly a game changer. Please don’t buy this steam generator iron. I have soft water with no limescale in my house. However this iron always leaks and spoils our clothes with limesacle without any warning. TEFAL Customer service is appalling with no empathy. They will take the iron and not replace it. However take it away and leave me without an iron until they fix it. Pathetic all round! Wish I never purchased it. Hard earned money wasted! Thank you VERY.
Needed a replacement as my old Tefal steam generator died unexpectedly 😢 After TONNES of research I decided on this model. My ironing mountain was ridiculous, thought it would easily take 9 hours (going off past experience). Anyway, this one has exceeded my expectations! It is lighter than the old one, which is good for my weak wrists, It looks pretty cool, It heats up quickly, but most importantly - it helped me get my ironing mountain ALL DONE within 4 hours!!! I am absolutely delighted with this steam generator! Hoping it will last as long if not longer than my old one!

The base plate glides easily but I would have preferred a weightier one as you need to press quite hard despite all the steam. One good thing is that it will never burn your clothes, there is no heat setting, the steam does all the work so the base plate gets hot but not scorching. The triple click function to keep steam flowing without holding the button in doesn't work very well, but to be fair the button is so light it doesn't take a lot to hold it in. Takes a while to warm up but that's fine, it needs to generate a lot of steam. Absolutely brilliant. I haven't tried it yet on something such as silk but have used it on something i would normally put on a number 2 lower heat setting and it was fine. Previously had a Bosch which i loved and no other steam generator iron has come close to a Bosch one before. I would absolutely recommend this one. Constant steam, nice pointed top on the baseplate for those corners. Literally only had to iron one side of pretty much everything, did both sides for jeans. I don't think you would regret buying one of these
