Tefal Ultimate Pure Steam Iron, 260g/min Steam Boost, 350ml Water Tank, 3M Power Cord, 3100W, Black and Rose Gold, FV9845

It's a decent iron. It does the job properly but is not magic and does not iron itself. It heats up really fast and you can start ironing immediately. The cord is very long and you can plug it into a socket on the floor and behind you with no issues. The iron is weighty which might be a problem for a person with smaller stature. I'm really not sure if this is the perfect iron and if cheaper iron would not be better. The price is egregious and maybe an iron that is half the price would do exactly the same job as this one.

Good Iron

Previously had a steam generator iron which lasted a long time. Decided to replace with this iron rather than steam generator type (no longer have school uniform to iron!). I was a bit worried it wouldn't be as efficient, but it is. The only thing I have knocked a star off for is that I sometimes accidentally hit the 'water squirt' button as it feels it should be further up on the handle, I don't think I have unusually large hands! Getting used to ensuring I hold the handle further back. Otherwise, happy with it.

Good iron!

I hate ironing and it takes me some time to decide on a new iron but when my old iron stopped producing steam I had to make a quick decision. While standing in John Lewis iron department, Southampton, this one caught my eye. I did a quick check of people's previous reviews and decided to buy it. I'm pleased with it so far. Have I already mentioned I hate ironing? So any iron that takes the stress and effort out of this task is good for me. Like other reviewers, it is a heavy iron but that helps I think get the creases out first time. My only criticism is that the water reservoir depletes really quickly so I have to have a jug of water on hand to keep topping it up but I can live with that. It's a good looking iron too so very pleased.

Good replacement

My normal Tefal iron died a final death after many years, so had to replace. Went with this Tefal model due to reviews. On the plus side it’s a lovely looking iron and has a long flex cable. On the flip side, there’s no variant to the steam setting, it’s all or nothing. I prefer half steam as I also spray my clothes with a scented decreasing agent, so the fact that I have full steam without the option to turn it down a little, is slightly annoying to me. Also, because it’s full steam ahead (pun intended), I literally used - for a small load of ironing (probably 10-15 items) - a full 1.5 litre bottle of de-ionised water! It has a large water storing capacity but also a high steam output! You pay for style, name and fancy gadgets that aren’t really necessary if you use your iron correctly. I’m glad I got it in the sale though and didn’t pay full price.

Great performing iron

I can honestly say this feels and performs like the best iron I have ever used in over 35 years.I was concerned about people saying how heavy the iron was , yes it is weightier than the average mid price iron but that makes the ironing easier. It glides over all fabrics with ease and its slightly weightier body actually takes the hard work of pressing away from your hands, arms and shoulder.The larger but nicely contoured surface area sole plate effectively irons quicker too, again making the job quicker.I tried it out first as a dry iron to test how effective the heat of the iron was and found it smoothed crisp cotton shirts better than any iron previously in steam mode. Using it in normal steam mode simply made it glide with less effort to move and felt lighter to use.The 3m long cable was not a necessity for me but can see how using it when tailoring and dressmaking or steaming curtains in position will be a further bonus.I have reduced strength in my hands and found the buttons and levers easy to move and after several hours of ironing the built up ironing pile formed from my old (just 6 months!) iron breaking I did not feel any more tired than the usual standard ironing pile.If you can afford it I would suggest you seriously consider it, you will be grateful once you start using it.

OK but not spectacular.

I exchanged this for my less-than-two-year old Bosch which gave up the ghost rather disappointingly. Paying what seemed like rather a lot for a steam iron, I was hoping for the odd miracle; so far, that has not happened. This is undoubtedly a heavy iron as others have said. If this matters to you, avoid it. If not, it does perform quite well but I am not sure what it does to justify its hefty price tag? It works well enough, but not noticeably different from previous, cheaper models. As I used to do a lot of dressmaking, I have always favoured the best iron I could find, so I am used to them being on the pricy side. I am also used to them not lasting all that long although I did not now use them as I once did. I like a well-ironed item, but my pure cotton, 400 thread count pillowcases, ironed when damp, required a lot of work to achieve an acceptable level of smooth. Possibly my standards? I'm not so sure.On the plus side, a long cord, with an easy to manipulate central fitting, an excellent water tank, very easy to fill and lasting quite well. It also appears to heat up quickly, a great bonus.So far, it is fine but time will tell....

Pricey but worth it

I like the hot plate shape, especially the front as it's sort of sculpted which is great for corners of items and in between buttons. Good sturdy weight, large water reservoir with a good aperture so it's easy to fill. Plenty of steam on tap. Good cord length too which can be wound around the foot of the iron when storing it. Worth the extra money as it's one of the best irons I've ever bought.

Steamingly brilliant and fit for purpose

Having read through the reviews I finally decided to buy this iron. I wanted something that would stream out creases from cotton without too much effort. Yep, I'm one of those that likes to iron washed duvets that look like you've just bought them with precise creasing! So, was this iron up to the challenge? It most certainly is. I agree with a review comment that was made about the extra steam burst button in that it's placing is directly under where you hold the iron. After a bit though you tend to forget it's there so it's not such an obstruction in the design. The cord is an excellent length and therefore great when you want to use the end of the ironing board to do the tops of shirts and the like. Fortunately I had a fill bottle from the previous iron I had and so use this to fill the iron. Tefal could consider supplying one of these given that the iron is not the cheapest. Overall, I am more than happy with this iron and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. The weight of the iron i feel is warranted as it's an iron that would tackle piles of ironing and feels like it's up to the job. A mention must also go to John Lewis for their speedy despatch and excellent pricing. They beat a well known electronics supplier by a notable margin on price. Well done JL. I shall be ordering my new vacuum from you too!

Top Iron

Bought 2 of these irons.One for myself and other for sibling.It's a top top iron, my advice is to use distilled water only. As we live in a hard water environment. Using distilled water only from when the iron is new. You will never ever get limescale or brown water going out EVER.Also after use no need to empty iron, can leave water inside and again ZERO LIMESCALE
