Best hiking sandals

Most of my sandals have last 2-3 hikes before I gave up on them. Not this Teva.I’ve worn the Hurricane XLT2 Teva on 4 hikes already and I’ve had zero issues. When I got the sandals I was really worried it was too big but with three adjustable straps, it was never an issue. I slid my foot as far forward as possible and strapped down the heel strap so my foot wouldn’t slide and it hasn’t. Another concern was the plastic triangle holding the straps was hitting a knuckle when I tried it on. But once on the trail it wasn’t an issue and I totally forgot about it.I’m really happy with this purchase. I had been looking at this sandals for some time but they always sold out. If this one ever ware out, I’ll purchase the exact same one. No more shopping around.

These sandals are not only incredibly comfortable but also provide a sense of security with every step. The cushioned sole and adjustable straps make them a perfect fit for my feet, ensuring maximum comfort throughout the day. I love that I can wear them for long walks without any discomfort. Additionally, the sturdy construction and reliable grip of the outsole give me the confidence to navigate various terrains without any worries. These sandals have quickly become my go-to footwear option for both casual outings and outdoor adventures. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a combination of comfort and security in their sandals.

I've owned these sandals for about a month now. Upon my first few wears I proclaimed to my girlfriend that it was one of the greatest purchases I've ever made. Unfortunately I've had to walk back that statement (no pun intended). After about a week the left sandal started squeaking loudly and also kind of feels squishy under foot. After another week the straps started fraying. The Velcro pieces are unraveling or something so there are long strings of nylon hanging off. These issues make for a somewhat annoying wear and they definitely cost this product some points in my opinion. That being said however, they are very comfortable and supportive, and look great too. I live in these things

After close to a decade my Terra Fi's finally developed a crack/hole in the ball of one foot. Wasn't ready to shell out another $100+ so I picked up a great colorway (Terra Fi's should come with more color options!!!) of the Hurricane XLT2. Initially ordered the "men's" Blue Multi, but then a few days later saw the same Blue Multi but with a different heel strap color, on sale for half the price! Turns out these were marked as "women's" size 14, not Men's 12, but it would appear the Hurricane XLT2's are all gender anyways - so I'm cool with it! The sole does seem to be almost identical to my old Terra Fi's - just a bit lighter. I doubt I'll get as many years out of these as my old Terra Fi's, but for less than 1/3rd of the price I'm not complaining. The only gripes ... MoreAfter close to a decade my Terra Fi's finally developed a crack/hole in the ball of one foot. When I want to get a tight fit (which is rare - I like wearing them a little loose) they both hang off the side of the sandal quite a bit (the toe strap by about 3/4" and the top of the foot by closer to 2".) If I line the hooks and loops up exactly on the top of the foot they are SUPER loose.

My favorite shoe I have ever owned. Sturdy and comfortable.
24 August 2023

I don't write a lot of reviews, but I love this shoe so much, I felt like I had to. My first pair lasted over 4 years of continuous use on rugged terrain as well as every day tasks around town. They are very comfortable and also sturdy. You can wear them without the back strap for casual use (just strap it off to the side), and for more technical activities, you can throw the back strap back on and you're good to go. I wear mine around town, while out rock climbing, and on just about any hike that could be done in a day or less. I will probably always have a pair of Tevas.I imagine that many people who read this will be debating Tevas and Chacos, so I will offer my two cents as someone who has owned both:The footbed on a pair of Chacos is sturdier, which means ... MoreI don't write a lot of reviews, but I love this shoe so much, I felt like I had to. However this also makes Chacos feel awkward to wear. The footbed is heavy and clunky, and snags on things quite frequently. Chaco straps are also harder to adjust, and they make the shoe relatively difficult to take on/off. Chacos also have a tendency to cause blisters (with or without the toe strap).Tevas are all around more comfortable. They don't easily cause blisters, are easier to adjust, easier to take on/off, and are still very capable in most environments. I would much rather spend a long day of hiking or running errands in my Tevas.Overall, I would recommend Tevas over Chacos 9 times out of 10, with the one exception being on water hikes. I wear my Tevas nearly every day, while my Chacos sit around and collect dust. This is because most times that I am going somewhere where I would want Chacos instead of Tevas, I would be better off wearing hiking shoes or boots anyways. Tevas are just so much more comfortable, and are far more capable than I need them to be.

Not as good as they used to be
26 February 2023

I just received a new pair, both squeak, one more than the other. I'm returning them. I bought 2 pairs a few years ago and one pair squeaks, the squeak never went away. The top Velcro strap on the other pair wore out pretty quickly. I had an even older pair that I use in the garden and they held up better than those 2.I've been wearing Teva sandals since, I think the 80's. I knew I could get a pair and they were good, comfortable, and would last a long time. It looks like those days are gone. Sadly, all good things come to an end, time to move on.

Not comfortable, run a bit small
1 May 2023

Plastic triangle pieces that connect webbing parts can make the whole thing uncomfortable. In my case it pushes against pinkie on the right foot. Not bad enough that I cannot wear sandals at all, but noticeable enough that it gets annoying after a while. It also runs small. I usually wear 11 - 11.5. Tried 12, and it was way too big. Got size 11, and realized after a couple of hours that it is a bit too small.

They do not work well for me
7 June 2023

This is the 2nd pair of Tevas I have bought. The first rubbed my foot raw across my little toe so I never wore them. This pair I decided the first were too big and so I sized down, got a size wide with wide straps. These are better but I still experience the same problem to a lesser degree. Being a stubborn person I am trying to soften the strap. Soaking the shoe in Downey has helped as well as working the material back and forth with my fingers. They are stiff and all the velcro makes them stiffer.

Velcro collects detritus, comes away from the strap

I love my Tevas. I am sorry to say, though, that the Velcro straps wear out and become unusable long before the sandal does. THe ends of the hook part of velcro break off. The hook and fiber parts both are magnets for all sorts of detritus: cat hair, bits of of wool from socks, grass seeds, fibers, etc. It jams up the hook parts, making it not 'hooky' anymore. You can't clean the velcro. Third problem is the cheap seam attaching the velcro to the strap is one light, cheap thread. It breaks easily and then the velcro separates from the strap. The adhesive used to attach the velcro to the strap loosens up or breaks, making the velcro strap come off the strap. Worth Every Penny

First time purchasing teva. I have to admit I was skeptical at first, but wow did they win me over. My partner and I needed sandals for our honeymoon. We got matching pairs. And at first they feel stiff, but broke in and felt comfortable after a couple of hours. The adjustable straps are everything. And it never digs into your heels ever! Super comfortable on the beach, out for walks, or any environment where sandals are acceptable. I even hiked in a cave with them on and I never slipped and always felt supported. Great product. I only wished I found them sooner.
