Awesome upgrade from the original universals

I also love the pad on the heel strap. The footbed cradles my foot like it was custom made for me.I have tried on multiple different Chacos over the years thinking I would like something with a sturdier sole than the universals offer, and it is just so profoundly WRONG on my foot. These are it!! Being a long time Teva fan, I can’t believe I didn’t try them sooner. I think it’s because they look pretty ugly just sitting there. However, when you put them on your foot, they actually look really cute! I was wearing kind of a dressy outfit when I tried these on and was SHOCKED that the hurricanes looked good with it.I cant WAIT to live in these all summer and start taking them on trips!... I would definitely buy another pair when/if I ever need one- these seem so sturdy I can't imagine needing to. Go for it!! Also- the width is excellent. I found in the past that Chacos were too narrow for my feet, but these are a great width and DO NOT have a high arch which I hate in shoes, it hurts my feet too badly. These are awesome! Buy them!... Functional but uglier in person
6 August 2024
Bought the beige & white color.Female. normally size 6.5 ordered 7 as .5 sizes weren't an option.Looked pretty unattractive in person from a top view. Kinda reminded me of a bandaid or flesh toned bandage wrap. Even my husband said "Eww. Why'd you buy those? I think they're for old people after foot surgery."Maybe the color blended in with my skin tone too much. Straps a bit bulky. I had nearly 1/2 inch overhang after my straps were secured that kinda just stuck out and had a sharp edge. I have narrow heels and skinny ankles so I felt I had to tighten straps a lot & the straps were too long for me.The soles did feel secure and comfy. I returned them so I can't speak to comfort & durability over time.... Show more

good at first but then gave painful blisters
31 May 2023
I got these shoes for the sole purpose of being able to use them in any, or most situations, specifically for water activities. I’m a travel nurse, and don’t have the luxury of lugging around multiple pairs of shoes -or rather I like to pack lightly. Comfort and convenience were top priority. Therefore, I bought the multicolored earth tone Tevas because who doesn’t love a shoe that not only looks good but is also versatile. For some background: I’m 5”2, 155lbs, and moderately active. I’ve had my pair for 2 years and have hiked all kinds of terrains in these shoes: mountains, dessert, beach, alpine, stairs (koko head, HI), etc.. needless to say; I’ve put these shoes through the test.At first they did just fine. I’ve had my pair for 2 years and have hiked all kinds of terrains in these shoes: mountains, dessert, beach, alpine, stairs (koko head, HI), etc.. needless to say; I’ve put these shoes through the test.At first they did just fine. I didn’t have a problem with them. I didn’t have to break them in and my feet weren’t achey after adventures. Which was a big relief because I tried chaos and they were so rigid-and didn’t cradle my foot the way Tevas do. HOWEVER, ….. after religiously wearing these shoes all summer, I quickly realized these shoes were causing PAINFUL BLISTERS!!! Didn’t matter if they were dry or wet. They CHEFFED and RUBBED in all the ares: in particular big toe, pinky bony prominences, and heels. (For reference: my feet are not skinny or extra boney) this matter got WORSE every time I got the shoe WET! Which was disappointing, being how I got them for lake/river/beach wear. I did all the things you’re supposed to do to minimize this from happening. Made sure my feet were clean (cleared the dirt away during and after hikes), dried my feet/not wear them for long when wet, dry the straps, bandaids, mole skin, socks.. nothing helped. 😩🤬The STRAPS are ROUGH and the material isn’t comfortable after several wears. Felt like they kept getting stiffer as time passed. but I refused to give up on them since i put in effort into finding a sandal that had great reviews and I spent all that money.I even went to far as to get professional opinions from reputable outdoor stores and they were all equally stumped. I was wearing the correct size but it just wasn’t compatible with my feet.I wanted to love them. I really did. They didn’t require breaking in, offered good coverage for my normal to slightly wide foot, went with almost every outfit, but unfortunately the last 3-4 times I’m left with nasty PAINFUL BLISTERS. which then leaves me to not enjoy my hikes and outdoor activities. And no one should suffer that way.Teva: maybe consider different fabric for the straps?Padding on the inside of them? I’d consider giving them another chance in the future, but for now, they are going into the donation pile. I hope some else can enjoy them.Back to the drawing board 🤦🏽‍♀️ convenience... Show more

High hopes but so painful
14 July 2024
I was so excited to wear these this summer, especially for some short hiking/kayaking trips. The reviews seemed great so I decided to splurge on a pair of shoes which I don't usually do. However I wore these to work for two days and the strap by the toes has just absolutely chaffed the top side of my foot and has totally cut into my pinky toe just from walking around. I thought it was how I'd adjusted the straps but I tried wearing them looser, tighter, and everything in between and they simply CUT UP my pinky toe/top of foot. I tried to break them in since the reviews said these were the comfiest sandals they own, but that was a mistake because now I can't even return them. Really disappointed and wishing I had gone for one of the more padded options.... Show more

Mindful of Bottom Grooves
1 August 2024
This was my first time trying this brand, and I was super excited! I tried these on at a store and loved the look! They are lightweight, and the hard sole gives great support for potential rough trails. I was shopping for a comfortable hiking sandal out of this style but unfortunately, after walking around my apt, I realized that the design on the sole was pinching the bottom of my feet. It also gave a burning sensation, not sure if I may have been sensitive to the material. I wish they wouldn't have had those grooves, otherwise I may have considered keeping them. After initiating my return, I read some of the reviews and it seems like other people were also disappointed by this. Perhaps a flaw? If I come across a smooth bottom sole, I may purchase again!... Mixed Feelings
17 July 2024
I wish I could give 3.5 stars. The sandals are extremely cute, stylish and for the most part, comfortable. However, I do not think they are good hiking sandals and definitely not for water-related activities. They take a long time to dry, and rub/chafe the tops of my feet. They are very adjustable, however still rubbed in all of the wrong places on a mild-moderate hike. After a white water raft excursion where we were in the boat the whole time, I had blisters rubbed into the top of my foot. So 5 stars for style/color/adjustability but 2 stars for practicality/comfort. Good for mild wear but nothing much more strenuous than that.... Show more

New Hurricanes Dangerous in Water
18 July 2024
Awful! I am so sad and angry about how companies ruin a good thing. For Decades I have worn various Teva sandals on land and in water, serioiusly 4 decades. These new ones nearly caused me injury in the river yesterday, and this is not an exaggeration. ZERO and I mean ZERO traction in water. In fact it felt like I had oil on my shoes and the rocks did too. Sadly, I've lost or worn out old pairs. I'm returning these, something I never thought I'd have to do. Although, while I'm at it, another style for women was also ruined last year. They took away the back adjustment strap and the new shape is unwearable on my feet, had to return a pair last year. sigh. Chacos don't fit me well.... Show more

Straps are kind of rough
12 June 2023
I bought these for the first time for a 2 1/2 week trip to Thailand, where it was very hot and humid. I even paid the extra $20 for rush shipping to get them in time. They were great the first week as they didn't need much breaking in, but eventually the straps started to feel uncomfortable as the texture of the strap is very utilitarian. You would think it would be a good thing to hold up to the elements, but after constant sun and sweat, the straps kept rubbing my feet wrong. I got blisters on my big toes from where the front strap sits. I tried to adjust the fit multiple times on all the straps: as tight as possible or looser to see if it would help with the blisters. The straps were just too rough. Walking in wet Tevas only made it worse, but thankfully they dried within the hour in the humidity. All in all, great for a day trip, not good at all for nearly three weeks of constant wear in the outdoors. So not sure how well they really hold up in terms of comfort.
