Wow! The most ergonomic sandal, maybe even shoe, I've ever owned. I recommend getting a half size up (my true size still fit, but trying on the half up allowed a wider toe box and i have no regrets!! The straps make it very adjustable). I walked 20k+ steps for 2 weeks on vacation in these and they were my most comfortable pair. Any pain I'd have after a day in any other shoe/sneaker, once I wore these, my pain would go away. And they are now my go-to everyday sandal! And still sturdy for hiking. I also have the Hurricane XLT2 but the tirras are 10/10 and I would recommend these more. Love love love these shoes!!

I've had Tirras for years but this "new" re-design is more than disappointing. As noted in other reviews, the straps are now shorter; I've now snagged pants as there is more velcro exposed which is catching on the hem (the "rough" side of the velcro is the part against the foot; Teva could redesign to swap which side of velcro is on the part of the strap that pulls up ... but that doesn't solve the too-short-length of straps). Also the back straps is much rougher and has rubbed the back of my heels. Lastly the arch support is not as supportive or as high as my old pair of Tirras - even after several years of wear. I have had several pairs over the years and purchased without even thinking about it ... but won't purchase another pair. I've worn these so cannot return ... Guess they will go in the donation bin but this is seriously disappointing; please bring back the older design.

I have an older model that I have worn out from wearing it for so many years. I loved it so much I ordered a new pair but these are different. (I unfortunately ordered directly from Teva since I loved my old version otherwise I would be returning them)It looks like I have the same problem as many other people with the redesign. The top of the heel strap on this version is slightly angled into my achilles tendon and everytime I wear them I either get a blister or abrasions. I have wore them multiple times to see if the strap would break in but it has not changed, I even sized up from my older model. The footbed feels like it has less arch support also.

I've worn Teva sandals for many years without any problems but this is the first time I've tried the Tirra. They were comfy in the store and I liked them so much that I bought 2 pairs. On the first wearing they rubbed huge blisters on the back of my heel. I solved that problem with a blister stick, only to discover that after wearing them for 2 days they cause the TOP of my feet to hurt like crazy -- it feels like the top of the foot is bruised and this happens ONLY when I wear the Tirra sandal. I've adjusted the straps multiple times but these just aren't working out for me. I'm very disappointed because the style is great and I love the footbed (there's plenty of cushion in the heel and the arch feels good), but there is something about these sandals that doesn't ... I wanted to love these, and in many ways I do. I think the triangle shape design for all loops/fasteners/hardware is brilliant and should have been continued with this sandal. Unfortunately, the oval loop on this sandal fails to meet the mark of other Teva products. It's very comfortable otherwise, and I think probably one of the cutest offerings, but the oval loop keeps turning sideways and this really impacts the comfort of the strap when wearing. I find that even loosening the strap does not help, just makes the shoe loose and not as well-fitted. I can not think of another fix, short of super-gluing the oval in place on the fixed end of the strap fabric but I figured it easier to swap my pair for another style that has the triangle loops instead. The triangle is a superior design and I love that most Teva products offer this! A smaller triangle on this sandal would have been amazing, and I could have kept and enjoyed this pair if it were built that way. I will note that only one of my sandals had this issue, so one sandal could have had a manufacturing flaw that allowed this to happen because the fabric strap on the other sandal seems to keep the loop snugly in place. Anyway, over time, I felt it might happen to both so I am parting with this pair for one that I know will not have this issue. I still love this brand so much and will keep buying. I hope they'll re-release this sandal with an update that includes the triangle, so I can buy those!
I bought these to replace a similar pair and am really not happy with them. They look great, but ... the rigid strap at the back of the ankle, although padded, is too short and therefore pushes the foot too far forward. This results in both an area of unoccupied sole behind the foot, and badly skinned heels - I discovered having walked in them for 15 minutes or so outside. Also, the geometry of the ankle straps over the foot seems wrong. There is no way of fastening them so that they lie flat. Initially I thought they were just a bit stiff, but that proved not to be the case. I don't have particularly large or small ankles and I wonder whether this is a design or possibly a manufacturing fault. Overall an expensive mistake, sadly.
I still have a pair of Teva Olowahu sandals (flip flops) that're about 15 years old, and I absolutely love them. I've worn them hiking in the Swiss Alps and kayaking in Oregon.Fabulous shoes, but I'm a registered Maine State sea kayak guide and can't wear them for work. I needed something more secure with better support and rugged bottoms for our sharp rocky beaches. I decided to try a pair of Teva Tirra sandals. I tried on a pair locally and found them really comfortable, so I ordered a pair directly from the company.Unfortunately, they arrived literally the day before my first guided trip of the season, so I didn't have time to wear them around the house or break them in. On my first day wearing them, I was so disappointed. They absolutely chewed up the back of my ankles! Not uncommon for new shoes, but I've never had sandals do that. Since I'd already worn them, I couldn't return them, so I plastered on bandaids and wore them again the next day. I noticed that the angle of the ankle strap is cut too high for my feet so the bottom part doesn't even touch my skin. I assume that's contributing to the rubbing on the back. No matter how I loosen them or adjust the straps, they just rub.The second problem with them is that once I get them wet, my feet aren't secure in the shoe. The soles under my feet become so slick that they slide around in the shoe, making it dangerous carrying heavy kayaks on our uneven ground.I'm really bummed because they really felt like they'd be a perfect fit when I first tried them on. At this point, I'm still in search of a rugged pair of water sandals for guiding this summer. I still love my other Tevas enough that I'd be willing to try a different style, but I'm not as confident they'll be a good fit.
I had asked a bunch of moms in a FB group which shoe was their favorite that fell into the following categories: 1. Comfortable 2. Cute looking 3. Had heel support, no flip flops or clogs 4. Was waterproof 5. Could be worn long distances without pain. The most votes were Chacos and this Teva shoe. I then went ahead and purchased 3 different Chaco sandals and compared this Tirra to all of them and the Teva Tirra was the most comfortable by far. I ended up returning the Chacos because the arches were too high causing discomfort. I took these Teva Tirra shoes to the beach recently and we walked about 3 miles. It was wonderful not to have to worry about them getting wet and they were comfortable the entire time. I would definitely purchase again. I'm normally a size 7, ... So, I purchased the 6.5 and it fits perfectly. Thanks!
Before our first trip to Disney World, I read a lot of Facebook posts and articles about which shoes would be best for all day comfort. I have a unique foot problem, similar to plantar faciates that causes me pain after minutes in most Shoes. I tried many different beloved Shoes including these. I kept the Hokas, Keens, and Tevas to try for longer wear at Disney and returned the rest that didn't come close. I ended up wearing these Teva Tirras every day all day! I am not an active woman, but we spent six days straight (from open to close) at Disney and I couldn't have done it without these shoes!! I'm not exaggerating. No other shoe comes close.
these are probably my holy grail of shoes. if you have high arches, i highly suggest this model. other tevas (hurricanes) make your feet "quack" like a duck as you walk the more you wear them and the sweater your feet get. these however because they're made from a different material are durable, last seemingly forever, and are like walking on a cloud. are they more expensive? yes. are the absolutely worth it? also yes. as a camp counselor walking anywhere from 3-10 miles a day on various ground i have yet to take of my shoes and find sore feet. they don't cause blisters, they're uber adjustable due to the three adjustable straps, and they come in cute colors. 11/10.
