One of the interesting things about this 9th studio album released in November of 1968, is that it's Beatles only double album. It is over 93 minutes, and at the time that kind of length on a studio release was unheard of. First and early pressings of this album go for ridiculous money if you can find one that is in decent shape. Tensions picked up mightily during this time leading to George Martin taking leave, and Ringo briefly leaving the band during the recording. The White Album is definitely all over the place, but that is the best part of the album. You can feel the tension, and although the songs may not tie together as well as other releases, they are great songs. The packaging in this 50th anniversary release from 2018 is fabulous. You get the 2LPs on 180g vinyl, along with the card insert photos of the band members. The stereo remix sourced from the original 4 and 8 track sessions is mind blowing.
