Since the smell š¤¢ and formula changed I can tell my skin hates it. I'm getting red bumps on my legs from ingrown hairs because the new formula has clogged up my pores. This new container is also less product I feel and the same price. Time to look for a new body butter ladies!!!

I've been using this brand's body butter since 2016, and the formula has definitely changed. The texture is not as creamy as before, and its a little harder to apply and rub into the skin. Also, your skin sometimes doesn't absorb the lotion and it tends to ball/flake off the body. Definitely will not but again unless they switch back to the old formula. :/

Yes, the consistency is bit like spreading butter but that's how shea butter is - not super-creamy, gloppy, or gooey like other body butters. Spreads easily, absorbed well, kept skin feeling moist but not greasy. I was using Burt's Bees hand salve on my dry feet, but that product does leave a greasy feeling. I'm going to use this Body Shop shea butter for my feet instead of the Burt's Bees. Scent isn't great (sort of like hairspray) but that's what shea butter smells like. Glad they don't cover it up strong artificial scents. If you are looking for actual shea butter, this is a good product.

Yeah this stuff is the real deal. I have tried so many lotions and body butters. They are all thin, goopy, and not at all moisturizing. Now this stuff? Oooohhh boy. I feel like a newborn baby. Soft. Supple. Smooth. I smell like light vanilla. I literally could bathe in this stuff. I love this stuff. I wish i could rub this on my brain. Anyway, highly recommend.
This used to be my favorite body butter and lotion. When I went into the store and held the lotion version, it felt like it was made out of paper and was limp. It honestly seems like the bottle will go soggy. The body butter smells like nothing now and at best, feels and smells like plain wax. Please bring back the old formula even if it is more expensive! This new product is so disappointing and feels pointless to buy now that the scent and feel has changed. Won't be buying again unless it goes back. :(
I'm hoping The Body Shop didn't change all their body butters to be like this. Think scooping cold butter to try and spread it on warm toast. That's how hard you have to work this in-it absorbs well & doesn't leave a film but it's not easily spreadable. It's definitely not the creamy, glowing moisturizer I used to love. The smell is strange too-not like the shea smell I'm used to. And it's definitely not worth almost $40-for how much I have to use to get it to spread across my entire body it's not gonna last long. I will not repurchase this.
I agree with the other reviews. This new formulation is terrible. Someone mentioned it's like spreading butter on bread and that's quite accurate. You get a workout trying to rub this stuff in. On top of that, it leaves my skin feeling tacky until I shower again. This used to be my go to for after shower leg moisturizer every winter. Not anymore.
My mother has been loyal customer for years; the Body Shop Butter was a staple in her bathroom closet.In the past this line was always moisturizing, smelled great, always did its job! It worked so well that we used the butter one time to moisturize our hair in a quick fix, and our hair was so smooth! Awesome stuff!But once again, another company falls victim to the changing of a good thing...Can someone spread the word (in song if necessary): "Bring Back the Old Body Shop Formulas!", even if its an increase in price? So, yes, we bought some of these new body butters; though they smelled pretty clean, frequent re-application was needed. Until then, we'll HAVE TO search else-where. šŖ

i have the coconut body butter, and i really love the formula. i got this thinking it would layer better with my vanilla scents. it's not necessarily bad, but it's definitely not a warm scent. it's also pretty strong, which would be good, if i liked the scent. it almost smells like the men's gold bond lotion in the black bottle? the formula is very moisturizing (per usual) but the scent is just not great, and that's the reason i bought it. if you're expecting a warm scent, do not buy this!
