This edition in the Oxford World Classics series contains forty short stories which shed light on Anglo-Indian life during the Nineteenth Century. Like E. M. Forster's "A Passage to India" and Paul Scott's "Raj Quartet" they brilliantly highlight the interaction between the English and the indigenous population There is a helpful introduction by Andrew Rutherford and copious explanatory notes which are essential as many of the stories contain words from contemporary Indian dialects.

These are wonderful stories, which appeal to children and - as should be true for all great children['s books - appeal to adults as well. These stories are meant to be read aloud; this edition includes Kipling's original illustrations, which I consider unequalled for enjoyment of these stories. This edition is a hardback commemorative one, and is most attractively produced.

A tiny little book obviously read many times over many years. However, it was fully intact and was very cheap. It would have been impossible to find in any bookshop. It served the purpose for which I bough it.
Also bought Something of Myself, but decided to read this one first so that I could compare the 'unreliable' account in Kipling's own book. Easy to read, with enough detail to satisfy, but not at all 'text bookish'! Good quality and price. Prompt delivery. Thank you
WOB deliver another beautiful book. Described as 'Used-Very Good' this Kipling autobiography is exactly that which is important because that is all we have to go by as customers (the description) so when items are not as described, it can be very frustrating and deflating obviously. WOB one of the best though and I find them trustworthy and reliable. Good customer service too.
The book itself is gorgeous. But mine arrived damaged. It was packaged neatly so it was damaged before being pack up. I returned it, but I would’ve replaced it had there been an option.
The book comes in very nice cardboard sleeve, very impressive. I bought this for my nephew's 10th birthday, he was excited when he opened it and is looking forward to reading it while they travel. He really enjoys reading. This was a great investment, the book exceeded my expectations.
