This game is based on the movie which is really awesome because you feel like you're actually playing within the movie and you're getting to see the movie. At the same time I really enjoyed it. It is not just fun but is also family friendly and I would recommend this to anyone that has children, or is a lego fanatic like I am.

I am a sucker for Lego games... Since childhood. There is just something super fun about them. The coloring was fantastic in this game. Bright and cheerful for 90% of it. I would recommend this game if you have not gotten a chance to play it just yet. Have a great day!

We are a LEGO household, and this game does not disappoint! My children are 5 6, and this is fun for all of us to play! My six-year-old doesn't require any assistance playing on his own, and my 5-year-old can play with minimal help. They sometimes ask for mom and dad to play with them, and we're happy to oblige. The game follows the storyline from the Lego Movie with all of the characters. Once the main storyline is completed, you can replay certain missions to gather everything, the game automatically calculating the percentage for you, and you can use studs, the in-game currency, to unlock additional characters which really add to the game. This is a perfect game for parents and young children to play side-by-side.
This game is pretty much just like any other Lego game before or after it. With that being said, if it isn't broke, no need to fix it! The game is a faithful rendition of the movie and there is plenty to explore. There can be some frustrating moments when trying to gather all the gold bricks (or instructions, I suppose) and you miss one on a level where your only option is start the whole level over again. Beyond that, however, the game is not unlike any other Lego game out there. If you enjoy the Lego games, this is more of the same to love.
This game is great because it follows the storyline of the movie! It adds a lot of action that fills in some of the gaps in the movie. The minikits in this game are actually LEGO instruction pages and when you find all of the pages for a build you can actually build it and drive it around! A couple things that frustrated me. One of the Western levels has a glitch that causes you to have to restart the level. Every time I played that level I had to go through it a second time to get past the glitch. The game is missing some of the characters from the movie that I would have liked to play as (the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and NBA All Stars). Finally, finding the levels in Free Play mode is a little difficult because they aren't ordered in any way. You have to go to ... MoreThis game is great because it follows the storyline of the movie! I watched The Lego Movie when it came out in theaters and loved it and I've enjoyed lego games in the past so I bought this game when it was on sale. I played for about 30 minutes and I haven't touched it since. There's nothing really new from the movie. All of the cutscenes are straight from the film and they do not look great; it came across as grainy on my TV.The camera angle is frustrating too. I played co-op with a friend and there was one point in the game where he got slightly ahead of me and the camera stuck with his character so I could not navigate my character through a jump. Even when I dropped out, my character couldn't advance so we were stuck on that portion of the level until we quit the game and lost all of our progress in the process. Not fun!I ... So, my son really wanted this game once he saw the movie (besides, we already have all the other Lego games for the PS3, so I got it for my wife's birthday (she wanted it, too). So, we played it. The first level seemed a bit cheesy, and more for little kids, but we didn't give up on it, and now that we didn't, we've found out that the further in you play, the better it gets. It's as good as the rest of the recent Lego games, and maybe better. Instead of having one giant hub (like Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and the Batman games, it has several large hubs that have a variety of missions and extras to find. My family and I played the demo and instantly decided to purchase the full game. Lego series action games are fun and challenging, and can be enjoyed by children of all ages, including my 33-year-old self.My daughters, ages 6 and 4, can't get enough of the game. It follows the movie pretty well and adds a few elements that are not in the movie, but are welcome additions. Some levels are a little tough for my girls, and even for me, but we manage to find a way to pass them.Saving your progress could be easier, though. If I'm not mistaken, completing a level automatically saves your progress and after reaching a checkpoint, you need to manually save at a kiosk. The last two times that I loaded the game after a kiosk/checkpoint save, I was brought back to the beginning of the level. Not a huge deal, but I wouldn't want this to happen every time.Another drawback is after completing a level, you're brought back to a free play hub and need to find your way to the next level, which makes it a mini-level in itself. This is not so bad, but when young kids don't understand this concept, it can lead to repeating earlier levels in the form of inadvertently selecting free play. All in all, it's a fun game and it has piqued our interest in other Lego action games.
Let's be honest, most of the time movie tie in video games SUCK. THANKFULLY lego and wb nailed this game. Lego already has put out great games and this one follows a similar format: you play as lego characters exploring the worlds of the movie. They did a great job of fleshing out the game so that it accentuates the plot points of the movie without making the game too dull, drawn out or overly predictable. For example you take part in an extended chase through the city after you first meet wildstyle. You play through the story but can also go back and replay using different characters you unlock along the way. Many times there will be bonus areas you can only access using an unlocked character so you get rewarded for going back and revisiting past levels. There's ... It's really great to explore the worlds that were shown in the film. The gameplay is pretty simple and luckily dying is not too big a deal (you lose some coins but don't have to start a whole level over if you fall off a lego cliff) so anybody can learn the game pretty quick. Eventually the levels get a bit more challenging but nothing impossible.
