Very very few films live up to the books upon which they are based - particularly when the books conjure up a fantasy world that many imagine, but few will concur on. Peter Jackson has done the almost impossible. The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, as any Rings fan will already know, is brilliant, captures the essence of Middle Earth, and even manages to convey the look of the characters pretty much as my mind's inner eye imagined them, all those years ago when I first read the books. I cannot recommend these films highly enough. And I recommend this package as a very reasonably priced box set.

I bought this for only 23 £ which is, to be honest, nothing for these movies. All three Lord of the Rings movies are standard and not extended edition, so for everybody who is looking for extended edition of the movie, don't buy this. For all others, buy it! I watched it last weekend and there were not any problem with movies.

Having read the books when I was younger, I watched the films as they came out, strangely like star wars, the films started in the middle of the story ie with lord of the rings then the Hobbit, It is a great product for those who want to watch the whole story in the correct order, it adds a lot of depth to the story and makes a lot more sense to watch in chronological order over a shorter period than waiting years between the films coming out. Any Tolkien fan will enjoy the experience immensely just make sure to have plenty snacks on hand
Got those trilogies for 29.50€. A must own for any fan of Lord of the rings fan. The delivery took about a week to arrive. Zavvi knows best.
The Films/Characters/Storyline are brilliant but unfortunately 1 DVD is faulty in each box set & is having to be returned FAO the manufacturers.
This was/is ideal if you want both of Peter Jackson's. Trilogy's so that you can watch them in the order they were written. Awesome scenery and awesome scenes. Almost 18 hrs of film. Sticks regidly to the Written Books and has a Cast of some of the BEST ACTORS in the WORLD.
The characters play their role well, the fictional characters as well as the setting seem real and all the action piques interest.
Have wanted to catch up with this classic for years! Now the time is right! Good so far....
Love all the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies...
