As for the fit, it sits loosely at the thigh and tapers toward the ankle, with a regular front and back rise and waist. But perhaps the best thing about the pants is their versatility. Roll up the hem for mid-morning airing. In the afternoon, zip them off halfway up your thigh. When evening comes, turn them back into long pants. And don't worry about losing the zipped-off pieces. There's a storage pocket for that. Finally, the water repellent finish makes short work of light showers. Haven’t had any issues so far so pleased with this product. Bought it a few weeks ago. Sizing is one bigger so had to drop down to a 28 waist. Think it’s because of the detachable zip making it a bit loose but not baggy. I’ve tried the original utility tapered trousers and 30 waist fits me.Also protects from wind. You can wear this on all occasions. Not too tight or baggy as well. Stretchy material. LightweightIf there are any issues with sizing you can look this up on the North Face website for store availability and physically check your size.

Good fit. Nice colour. Comfortable and light. Not so many walking trousers that have legs that unzip so I was pleased to fond these.

my son, for whom I bought these trousers, is very pleased with the purchase. The legs can be unfastened very easily using zips, which are marked for quick and easy use.

I bought a these to have something a little lighter and water resistant to walk our cocker spaniel each morning in the regular drizzle. They far out perform the jeans I used to use. They have good wind resistance and water does run off them. Although I wouldn't expect them to keep me dry in a downpour I suspect they would dry quickly. I bought them at the end of winter, a base layer added enough extra warmth for me. Nice touches like one removable legs act as a pocket for the other. The zips are colour coded for attaching the legs correctly. All around pleased with my purchase.
Had to return these and swap them for the regular tapered trousers. Also the waist is a bit too big. I'm 30 waist but had to get 28
I have a pair myself, and I have bought these several times for friends and family. They are strong but lightweight and extremely versatile. Although only slightly water repellant, they are also quick drying. The ideal walking trousers. When weather is colder, I use a base layer.
I was given these by my wife, in long, recently. They're nice, but they no longer have the zipped hand pockets. The hand pockets are not very deep, so it's risky leaving important items in them. Also, they have very large and obvious 'The North Face' labels in white front and back, which I really don't like.
The pant is great, good fabric nice design and well made but the size runs too small and tight. The convertible pants should more be like a loose fit all around providing enough room for free movement. This one lacks that
Would be almost perfect if not for the waist sizing being much too generous. Listed as 32", these trousers won't stay up without a belt on my 34" waist. Tape measure (inside, to centre of popper) gives 35.75". This is a pity as the overall design and the fit in the leg are great and the zip-off seam more comfortable than others I have tried.
i was not sure about "hiking trousers" im either combats, jeans or a tracksuit guyto my surprise they fit very well & kept me dry when the rain came downthe pockets are nice but the surprise i like was when i unzipped the legs i found one of the legs turns into a bag to store the other one, sounds gimmicky but its cool.they are also very easy to zip back on whilst wearing them as i found when it started rainingcasual but smart enough to wear out on a friday evening afterwork
