Inspired by The North Face's 1996 Nuptse, the 1996 Retro Nuptse Vest brings throwback style to our look and is versatile enough for our adventures around the city or on the trail. Its lofty goose down insulation traps your body heat for reliable warmth on cold winter days, and the durable face fabric is water-resistant to keep you dry if flakes start to fall. The hood protects your face from the wind, but can be easily stowed into the collar when the weather is fair, while an adjustable hem cinch blocks chilly air from entering your layers.

I wear a large in everything and this fits true to size so the large was perfect. This vest is a classic especially if you live in NYC. It's puffy and filled with lots of down just the way I like it. I also like the way they tuck a hood in the collar. The hood itself is not that functional but it gives the collar some extra body and it stands up nicely around the neck. Again, a classic and should be part of every fall wardrobe.

Love the retro look of this vest. Great quality. The fit isn't slim fitting, since it's a retro 90's style, so if you're looking for a very slim cut, you may not like this vest. But the fit makes it easy to layer the vest over a fleece sweater or light jacket, making it great for layering. I wear a large in jackets normally, and got this vest in a large and the fit was perfect. It does have pull strings to tighten the bottom of the vest around your waist if you find it a bit boxy at first. Highly recommend!

Exactly what I was looking for. The vest fits and looks great. Plenty warm. A full size puffer vest but not too bulky. Lightweight but not flimsy. I checked out vests made by an handful of North Face competitors but none of them could check all the boxes like the Retro Nuptse Vest. It was more expensive than the others but worth the extra cash. The only thing I wish were different is for the North Face logos to be less prominent. I typically only wear unbranded items so I'd prefer the logos be smaller or just have the one on the back.

I use this product as daily basis. Great quality. Color is perfect . Size everything. It's expensive but worth the price. North face always provides great style and quality. I will buy again in different color.
The Nuptse works. I wear it as a layer under my Arrowood Dry-Vent all the time, especially when driving our neighborhood electric vehicle around town in the cooler evenings. Nuptse also works as an excellent around the yard core insulator when there's work to be done. The hood comes in handy too.
The North Face X CDG Nuptse Vest is one of the most exquisite pieces of outdoor gear I have ever owned. Beautiful in style, durable in quality + has kept me warm in low Massachusetts temps this winter. Well worth every penny!
This vest is amazing, I love it. But the Altitude Sports team messes up big time here with the packaging. They squish it so tight inside a small box that the feathers get clumped up resulting in the jacket not being as puffy as advertised. What you see in stores/online won't be the same as what you get from Altitude Sports till you fix it yourself. It can be fixed, but it's annoying to have to fix someone else's mistake.
Vest is warm and light fits more snug than the puffer jacket. I am a small in the jacket so I bought a small in the vest assuming it’s just the jacket without sleeves but the fit was too slim. Had to return and reorder the vest in a medium. Overall good quality and light as expected from the brand and this price point.
I love the warmth this vest offers. 700 fill power is in the higher quality tier of down. This also makes it lightweight and compressible. My only gripe is what a lot of other people have stated about both the Nuptse vest and jacket. It's a little short. Why hasn't TNF addressed this yet? It's been years people have been complaining about the length of these. It needs to be like an inch longer, especially in the jacket. I imagine it's quite uncomfortable when cold air sneaks in underneath. It's doesn't bother me too much with the vest though because I usually layer with a hoodie.
I have a Nuptse vest from a couple of years ago that I love and wear almost daily during the fall/winter months in the Midwest. I loved the color options in this season's offering and sprung for the Aztec Blue.First, the colors really have to seen to be believed. In person, the blue really pops in a way that the web pictures don't quite capture. Looks awesome, and the finish on the fabric is really nice. The fit on the new 1996 vest is true to it's "boxy" descriptor. I bought a medium and it's very roomy in a way my older Nuptse (also size medium) isn't. I'm happy for the drawstrings on the hem, otherwise I feel like I'd lose heat easily. The larger baffles on the new model are also nice; it's just as warm and lofty but seems a bit less "poofy" compared to my ... MoreI have a Nuptse vest from a couple of years ago that I love and wear almost daily during the fall/winter months in the Midwest. The enlarged North Face logo is cool as well.I can't see myself using the hood very often, given that if it's raining I usually don't wear a vest, but it's a nice add on to have.
