I have used it for occasional wear walking to and from classes at school. The outer layer soaks up water which I don't like considering it's supposed to be a rain jacket. The inner layer is the waterproof part and feels kind of weird on the skin, it's almost as if the two layers were accidentally flipped.Anyway, I've had the jacket only a year now, I take good care of it, I haven't put it through strenuous conditions, and the inside is already breaking down. The waterproofing has micro tears in areas where the jacket sits (shoulders, armpits, mid back). The material itself feels cheap honestly and it's proving to be with how quickly this jacket is degrading.Side note, I'm in the military and if I were to put this jacket through a fraction of the training we do I ... Which is sad because The North Face is supposed to provide attire for some of the most austere environments.

It's light, it's waterproof and it seems reasonably breathable. It's exactly what I wanted. Please be advised that it is a slim fit, so if you've got a belly, it might be tight around the mid-section. I already have a NorthFace summit jacket, but wanted something lighter and more breathable for rainy day dog walks.

So far so good on dryzzle days. ! Soft inside on my short sleeve shirts. Love it better than my old Resolve jacket. Waiting to see the results on a pouring rain day (monsoon). I bought this size for the following reasons. Order a size up from normal, I bought a large and it ripped down both armpits side while reaching for something! Sending that back for an exchange in size. Also, if you want room for a sweater or heavier clothing.

I purchased this jacket for my VERY picky boyfriend. After reading the reviews I thought it would be the perfect jacket for hiking in the Northern California rains. He was very close to keeping it, which says a lot since as I mentioned he is very picky. After some back and forth he decided that he would like pit zips for ventilation just in case he wanted to wear the jacket while riding his bike.... So sorry to say, the jacket was returned. During my inspection, I thought it was a great light-weight jacket especially for the sale price. I would have liked to have seen a bit of a sturdier zipper or even snaps on the overlapping zipper vent to allow for more comfort flexibility and ventilation. Overall I would give this product without ever having been worn a 4 star. ... MoreI purchased this jacket for my VERY picky boyfriend. I'm 157lbs, 6'1" with long arms, and the arms/body of the Large were perfect for me. The hood, however, is not tall enough for me, limiting mobility and putting strain on my head/neck, especially if I look downward at all. The drawcord in the back of the hood is nice for adjusting peripheral vision, but the cordlock is attached in a way that makes it extremely difficult to adjust. The drawcords for the hood opening are INSIDE the jacket, so when the weather gets nasty and you want to cinch them up for more protection, you have to UNZIP the jacket, exposing yourself to rain/wind just to tighten the hood opening. I like the rest of the jacket but will probably return it because of the hood issues.
I replaced a NorthFace water resistant hooded jacket with a Drizzle waterproof jacket love it! The bright color makes me more visible and the fit is perfect for me. I have taken a number of long walks in the rain and the Drizzle is waterproof. The hood is much better than other NF jackets that I have had. When in use it fits nice and tight around the face and the collar comes up just above the mouth. The drawn strings are effective at closing off all the areas where skin and hood meet!
I'm sure this jacket is great. I won't ever know. I had some qualms about buying it because it doesn't have pit zips and I tend to run hot, but it got great reviews on breathability so I figured why not. I ordered a medium, because I'm not a tall person, it came, and I zipped it up and I looked like I was wearing a child's jacket. Even after losing the 30lbs I could stand to lose, this would still be way too tight as a medium on me - who wants a body-hugging raincoat? Not me! So back to North Face it went. I bought a Patagonia instead. It has pit zips.
My intend was find a waterproof breathable jacket for daily commute and casual hiking. As I'm a person who sweat a lot, breathability is an important criteria. Most of the jackets with the G-brand membrane are either too tick, too noisy, or overpriced for me.The Drizzle FL checks all the boxes, and it packs down to almost nothing.I worn it for a 1h hike during a windy day and I was surprised. No overheating as jacket from other brand and no condensation inside with the front zip closed all the time! When I first wear this jacket, the fit is bit weird. There's a lot of room on the chest and sleeves are very long that can cover my fists when laying down on the side of my body. But very quickly it turns into big advantages. The roomy fit allows layering with down or breathable midlayers. The long sleeves keep my arms covered even when I rise my arms up, and still have my belly covered!Beside that, as many reviews said on this jacket, having a two way front zipper could be a bonus. But personally I can live without. If this jacket could be improved, I would like to have a little bit more room on the hood and little bit higher chin guard for cold day.On overall, this new FUTURELIGHT membrane is very impressive.
I was after a really breathable yet water resistant rain jacket as I work in weddings and my previous Kathmandu one made me sweat after 5mins of wearing it. But after buying the dryzzle by North face it keeps me at a very comfortable temperature even while running around in direct sunlight. Despite lacking armpit gussets which are commonly found on breathable jackets, the material of this jacket helps dissipate heat really well I'm seriously impressed. I'll have to give it a full test in summer though during the wet season but during autumn and winter so far it's held up really well. Be sure to wash it using a gentle/ handwash cycle in your washing machine to preserve the material quality and rain resistant properties.
I have been wearing the drizzle futurelight for two weeks. It is a major upgrade from the north face venture. The breathability is great and no need for armpit vents. I really like the pocket design to keep out moisture and inside breast pocket is greatly appreciated. The material seems very durable and still allows for good movement. Very happy with jacket at the sale price point. 6’1” with athletic build and large fits well alone but with enough room to layer underneath if needed.
