I bought this bag to carry my daily fieldwork materials. When it arrived, my first thoughts were that it was big, that the smaller outer pocket was oddly an inverted triangle shaped, and that the shoulder straps were oddly an inch below the edge of the main bag. I filled it up with laptop, folders, lunch and my soft work project materials. My wallet, keys, pens, and critical small extras fit in the outer pocket. There was room for a water bottle in one pocket and a collapsible umbrella in the other. When I put it on it felt sturdy, the straps were comfortable over my single layer, the adjustable chest strap cinched in great and actually the lower strap position left the bag sitting higher on my back which felt anatomically quite comfortable. The fabric is durable (no scratches or stains) and the vented back makes it comfortable even to wear bike commuting. The only minor oddity of the bag is that it is top heavy and doesn’t sit upright by itself on the ground, but you get used to that so position it differently when putting it down. The only negative is that I cannot reach and pullout the water bottle while walking and wearing the pack, because the side pockets are taller and sit a bit high up, but I’ve gotten used to just taking off the bag to reach the bottles. The durability and comfortable fit are worth it! Overall, quite happy to wear it every day!

I've now taken this backpack on two trips, and really love it! The padded, cellular back and shoulder straps are really comfortable even when the pack is loaded. The front pocket only goes halfway down the bag, which took some getting used to. You can't put too much weight in it or the bag is very top-heavy. But I just made sure I put only light items in there and everything else in the main compartment. The side pockets are really useful for holding a water bottle and sunglasses case!

Good pack, but missing the tablet sleeve in the 2022 variant
15 September 2022

This is a great backpack, it's really comfortable, thoughtfully designed, easy to wear for an entire day, and has a lot of space for your stuff. Just an observation though - the "padded tablet sleeve" in the front pocket is missing in the 2022 version (compared to earlier versions) - TNF please update your product description as it's a bit misleading. There is a laptop sleeve / area in the main compartment which could fit a tablet comfortably though - but not both a laptop and a tablet as it's quite tight.

Good, but could be better

I bought this online without seeing it in person.I ordered the blue and received a dusty rose colour (which isn't even listed as an option?). I actually like the dusty rose colour so didn't contact MEC for a return or anything...but it's not what I ordered. It also doesn't have a ton of pockets, which you can sort of tell from online, but in person you realize how limited it is. It has "space" though, so I'll just purchase some separate pouches for items to keep them separated. It does feel really well made and fits everything I need in it, which I wasn't sure of when I pulled it out of the bag. I also like that it stands up (sort of) on its own. Great everyday daypack
1 February 2022

I bought this pack for traveling with a family. I have large and small hiking packs and a couple of small daypacks but I wanted something in between. This fit the bill. It obviously is not meant for hiking so I would not consider it if that's what you need. But it is easy to adjust for comfort, has enough structure to stand itself up, the back is well padded and ventilated and the straps are wide so it won't cut into your shoulders when it is loaded with weight. That is an issue with some other daypacks. The front pocket is a decent size but there is no small 3rd stash pocket which would be one of my only complaints. The other thing to know is that the zippers are very fast and smooth. Which is usually a good thing except they can open a lot further than intended. ... MoreI bought this pack for traveling with a family. The fabric seems durable and kept the interior dry in light but steady rain. It does have an integrated laptop / tablet pocket and for students this could probably last your entire college career. Overall a very good pack for the price.

I would not buy this product again
5 June 2022

Pros: This bag is incredibly spacious and has really nice compartments for storing your different items. Aesthetically it's incredibly pleasing as well.Cons: The DWR - Water Repellent system I didn't find satisfactory. After ~ 45 minutes in a light drizzle, the outer compartment was wet on the inside and it had begun seeping through into the main compartment. During a hike (sunny conditions), I managed to sweat through the FlexVent Suspension system to the point where the inside of the bag was wet.

Looks good but impractical
15 January 2022

Bought this for as a day backpack for my hiking weekends- the mesh side pockets looked perfect and it is water- repellent, plus it has padded back. Looked really good, however there are not many pockets and the front one is just on the top half of the rucksack bizarrely, so as soon as you put your mobile and wallet, it falls over, unless there is a permanent laptop in it to balance it. Self-standing it is not, it is worse than my old rucksack, which had a full-front pocket at least. It looks like it is made for students solely- I am frankly quite appalled how badly designed it, and for a single purpose. Will keep it as have used it and glad I do not need to use it more often.

Stylish, quality, functional backpack for school or college
4 December 2022

I bought this backpack for a high school student after the last cheap backpack I purchased months ago completely fell apart. This is a great choice for a school backpack because of the following:Style - minimalist, modern and unisex.Function - Back support, padded back, handles and straps, deep mesh side pockets, multiple functional components, designated laptop pocket, two handles on top, double zippers, large size but not too bulky.Quality - looks very well made and designed with simplicity, functionality and longevity in mind. This applies to materials, style, function, size...everything really.Overall I am super happy with this purchase. Now if it makes it okay through the next school year, I will be extatic.

Versatile backpack for the everyday user
6 January 2023

Great everyday backpack, stronger zipper than expected which was nice. Has two compartments, one main and one smaller one for quick essentials. The small one does not run the length of the backpack. Within the main, there is a section to store a laptop. I take this with me to work daily.
