The Venture 2 jacket is supremely lightweight and packable, but provides fierce defense against Mother Nature's fury. This is an unlined, no-frills rain shell, designed to be stowed away in its own pocket and thrown at the bottom of a pack until the day you need it. It's reliably waterproof thanks to the impenetrable DryVent technology, which uses a polyurethane (PU) coating that consists of a tri-component, multi-layer formula for waterproof protection, moisture permeability and durability.

I bought a light, hooded windbreaker from North Face while travelling in Nepal to Everest Base Camp. It was a cheap purchase abroad as i forgot my rain jacket. The windbreaker held up in strong winds and rain and was perfect for layering. Besides the zipup, the coat has velcro closures and the hood is designed to stay on and not be blown away in the wind. Very happy with purchase. It is a striking sky blue colour that doesn't fade in the wash and holds up well during torrential downpours. I recommend both the brand and the jacket.

Excellent Jacket. It's so simple, it does exactly what it's made to do. I own the Venture I jacket, not the II, so this version may be updated, however mine is a couple years old now, and I've re-applied the water shedding coating only once. Sheds water very well, and I have endured many torrential downpours with this jacket, and continue to stay dry. The jacket is not warm. It's just a shell, it's not meant to be. Pair with a breathable warmth layer, and you can endure any weather. Being a waterproof shell, it breathes very poorly. The armpit vents work very well to allow breathability, but to maintain it's water/wind proof protection that's it.This is not a con, but instead a byproduct of its intended purpose. Wind proof also. I would buy this again and again. ... MoreExcellent Jacket. It's so simple, it does exactly what it's made to do. I can choose to wear this with only a t-shirt and still looks flattering, but I can choose to wear a heavyweight sweatshirt underneath, and plenty of room and flexibility. If you plan to be sweating, the jacket will be moist from condensation on the inside, so expect this. The jacket also is very durable. It's been through many forests, rocky scrambles, and everything in-between, and not a single rip or tear. It'll tear if a sharp rock catches it, but I've been good to avoid it. The shell accepts aftermarket rain proofing coating very well, also. Kudos, North Face.

Live in Hawaii and needed a durable, lightweight raincoat for work. Can work outside in the rain for hours in this and stay dry. Typically wear a tank top underneath (avg temp here is 80F) so if you work up a sweat it'll stick to you a bit. The pit zippers help it breath a little better, but a lot of heat gets trapped inside. Good if that's what you're looking for. 10/10 on the rain aspect though. Helps block the offshore winds really well. I have pretty thin wrists so sometimes if I lift my hands up water will run down inside the sleeves, but that's more a personal issue than an issue with the jacket. Sometimes the hood strings don't stay pulled tight and you have to adjust them a lot, probably the only drawback. Packs up tight and stores in one of the pocket, doesn't take up a lot of space, which is pretty sick. I also have pretty long arms and a thin frame so usually have to buy a size up and everything looks baggy and too big - not this guy. The medium has sleeves plenty long and it's comfortable and form fitting with a hoody underneath or without.Had to wait a little longer on shipping but that's what you get for living on island and having a virus hit the world.

Get it!
24 July 2021

6?1, 200, MediumI purchased the Venture2 for some mountain hiking. This jacket is awesome. There?s enough room for a thermoball jacket and a few other layers underneath. As some have already stated in the reviews, it runs a little big as it?s designed for the purpose of layering. But even without layers, it still fits nicely since there are drawstrings to adjust the waist. It?s packable, lightweight, has great ventilation under the arms, and looks great. If you?re debating what kind of wind/rain shell to get for your outdoor adventures, this is the one. Get it!

Good Fit, Very Strong Shell

Lightweight, XL Fit....not tight or snug, Rain beads off well & it keeps the rain out, fits easily over my 700Fill Marmot down jacket, Long Arm Length, And most importantly, Holds up very well to my dogs jumping on me.The Zippered Pockets fit my gloves well, OR you can stash the gloves on the Inside as well, in the slip-in space between the Zippered pocket fabric and the wall of the jacket.Overall Durable, Great fit for me [6'2" 260lbs], Plenty of room to layer underneath, Large Hood, and Waterproof. The XL is a bit large, not too form fitting, but this fits me well, especially when I layer underneath it. And for Breathability/Trapping Perspiration. I can not honestly answer that because its Cold here in Washington, and it won't warm up for about 5 more months.

I would buy again
21 December 2021

I bought this jacket for my husband who was reluctant to buy it online without first trying it on. The size guide was helpful. The fit was perfect.Great colour and style.I ended up buying the same jacket for myself in the same colour from the women's range. It's light weight, folds easily. Good for brisk walks, can handle light to medium rain.It was delivered promptly.

Nice Jacket but Arms Too Long
14 January 2022

I purchased this jacket for my husband as a Christmas present. He wears xxl and in a tall. He tried this jacket on at different places but length of arms was short. When I found it here and in his size, I ordered. I was disappointed Christmas morning to discover the arm length was 2.5 inches too long. Unfortunately, my husband is not willing to roll the sleeves up to. I will have to return it. Other than the length of the arm, the jacket was perfect. This is the only reason why I am returning it.

I am only giving this 4 Stars as I already own one in XXL and it's literally twice as thick/material. Had planned to use this 4 seasons but don't think this will suffice in Cold Winter weather like my XXL did. Now as to fit and all - I am 6'2" and 215lbs. Am also 60 now and hate being cold and wet. My last one held up for 2 NYC winters as well as rest of the yr's. This XL fits perfectly with my puffer jacket and long sleeved shirt. Hangs down just over top of my pants pockets, and the sleeve length is perfect for me (don't know actual measurements) The Hood has a Bill to it and will adjust to fit me wearing me Yankees cap comfortably. My last one was truly waterproof and have great expectations for this new purchase. Love the pit zips and this is truly the only present day TNF product/s worth buying anymore. Again, only 4 Stars as I am disappointed in the paper thin weight to this jacket but that's my personal opinion as I own another to compare it to. Over all, I recommend this jacket

Quality jacket for outdoor work and play

This may be long but I'm gonna give you all the details I was looking for when I was looking for a jacket. My boyfriend and I got the same jacket (mine in female). My bf is 6'3, 170lbs, tall and skinny. We ordered a large and the sleeves were pretty long. Everyone said large was perfect. If you wear 32×34 in pants and medium in shirts (large if they're not too wide around your skinny waist), then trust me get a medium in your rain coat! I've purchased V2 as a light allweather shell. The intended use work, hiking and generally an EDC item due to light weight and packing ability. The jacket appealed as it was made by a top quality trusted brand and advanced materials. The V2 is not good in tropical climate and makes you sweat no return
