Excellent tent, very waterproof, not for 6
This is an incredible car camping tent. I just took it out for a trip and there was heavy rain for about 4 hours overnight and we stayed completely dry (our friends did not). The vestibule is a really nice feature. The tent has good airflow through it and we didn't feel stuffy even with the rain.. The setup took about 20 minutes, which was totally reasonable in my mind. The construction seems to be of high quality. My one issue is that you can't fit 6 people in this tent. You can put 5 people max in this tent. In my mind, it is borderline false advertising to say that this tent can fit 6 adults. Hence my 3 stars.... Show more

Fabulous tent
Pros: I'm two seasonsin = about 9-11 week long trips with myself and 90lb dog, and this amazing tent has lasted through some strong winds, without using the stabilizer ropes (got caught off guard by weather), a four day constant heavy downpour with only a slight bit of moisture under the vented corner because the rain at one point came in sideways, other than that I was incredibly impressed at how bone dry the tent was after that long weekend.Con: Great for wear and tear with a large graceless dog. Except when she went kool-aid man style through the main door screen at 2am. To be fair it held up for about 5-6 previous attempts of escape (to go after local wildlife).I would definitely welcome a solid zip up option for the main door like on the back door, as a ... fragile
After seeing the raintesting and seam-taping reviews on youtube, I was extremely excited to invest in this tent because I always get caught in the rain. The main issue is durability; I used it for one trip and came up with a few concerns as the zipper was getting caught and my tent has immediately sprung three small holes not protected by the rain fly. I am very cautious with my belongings, especially ones that are this expensive. I do environmental circle checks at my campsites, and I orient the tent most safely, avoiding dead trees in proximity and clean the interior and exterior with each use.I contacted the warranty claim people, and they do not believe it to be a defect. I wish I had known beforehand that the tent was this fragile, as I have not had this ... Honest review
We purchased this tent this year and can confirm its quality. I will spare you the details about the specifications as you can find this information easily. This is our experience: a superior tent to anything we have ever owned. Large enough for our two cots with air mattresses. Lots of standing room to change. The fly allows for ample ventilation. The vestibule allows us to set up a good size portable table to organize all our kitchen supplies and storage bins and coolers fit as well. We put a sand free mat in the vestibule to keep the tent and this area clean. We use the footprint designed for this tent. Suggest you buy extra pegs (4-6) and guy lines (2-4) from an independent retailer like SAIL. The vestibule does not have screens so be aware that bugs can enter, ... We hang a small battery powered lantern inside the tent on the loop in the centre. Rating: severe winds and huge downpours this summer and we remained bone dry. It is bullet-proof. Expect about 20 minutes to set up. Carry bag has ample space. This is a car camping tent. Highly recommend this and have previous retail experience so I knew what I was looking for.... Show more

Buy this tent for the very-useful rain-fly-vestibule, headroom, ventilation and the exceptional construction that's sure to keep you dry.I wish that the windows in the Wawona 6 could be unzipped inside the tent, otherwise this tent is pretty darn near perfect! The largest window can be unzipped inside, but you'll need to unzip the screen first before unzipping the outer shell, and then you'll need to zip-up the interior screen again, so I imagine when mosquitos are present, you're probably better off just unzipping the shell from the outside. There's plenty of room for our two cots and lots of space and pockets for our gear inside the tent. The headroom is superior and there is even an extra arched area near the door leading into the vestibule. The tent (not including the vestibule) is narrower and longer than our last stand-up-height 6-man dome tent, so there is less width-wise, but more length-wise. There's enough room at the end of our cots that we could pull in the two chairs from the vestibule area if we needed to get away from mosquitos, since the vestibule is not insect-proof.The vestibule is great for a couple of chairs, a side table and/or a potty -- eliminating the need for setting up an extra shelter. If you get the matching footprint, it includes an small extension piece that is positioned inside the vestibule that you can step on with your bare feet or socks after you kick off your shoes--keeping everything clean and dry inside the tent.... I can see why it's so well reviewed by basically everyone.
It holds up really well in lots of conditions. It's easy to put up (i did it by myself twice, in under 20 minutes both times, and faster with another adult... and slower with a kid). Spacious, the vestibule is absolutely killer. Well ventilated in the summer, easy to clean. Packing it away wasn't very difficult either. My only gripe with the tent itself is that the back door is a little wonky to use, and part of me wishes that we could have the rainfly off a portion of the top of the tent (some of us like looking at the sky).Literally the only dealbreaker is that there is no footprint available anymore. What's the point of selling a bajillion of the best reviewed family tent on sale and not having any footprints available. I mean, at least provide _some_ sort of ... I LOVE my Wawona
Love love love this tent! Definitely one of the best tents I've ever bought or stayed in! Set up is quick and easy! I love how the poles snap together on their own. I watched a video to help the first time and it's very straight forward. Set up and take down in less than 10 minutes. The vestibule is larger than expected and could fit another 2 bodies. I do however think the main room is only comfortable for about 4 people to sleep comfortably. The ceilings are nice and high. The only thing that I would improve is adding mesh to the vestibule doors so you can get extra airflow.... Show more

Incredible tent for family camping; stormproof.
I've used the tent for several fall and summer camping trips on the East Coast on Assateague Island and Shenandoah. The tent is stormproof. We've weathered wind and deluges, including a storm that knocked out power nearby, and the tent stayed bone dry. The vestibule is huge and allows us to store our bikes and kid trailer. It also makes getting in and out of the tent easier in weather. The tent is a little tricky to setup but I have trouble knocking any design choices when everytime I wake up dry when everything around is drenched.... Show more

Perhaps the perfect family camping tent...
We just took this tent (family of four; two kids under 10) camping for three nights at a National Forest campground high in the Rockies. The layout of the tent is PERFECT for car camping, IMO. The vestibule is a great integrated design that functions so well with two doors. When it rained every afternoon, as it does in the mountains, we could take refuge in the waterproof vestibule and play games with plenty of room for four chairs and a little table. When a neighbor showed up on one side, we just kept one door closed for privacy. The ceiling height inside the tent is great for grown-ups changing and moving around, and plenty of pockets and loops allowed for storage, light sticks, and LED night-lighting options for the evenings. The ceiling height inside the tent is great for grown-ups changing and moving around, and plenty of pockets and loops allowed for storage, light sticks, and LED night-lighting options for the evenings. We didn't encounter any severe weather, but the options to guy out the tent are numerous and a few extra guy lines are included. This was important peace-of-mind because our last tent collapsed on us and broke a pole during a 4am gust front from an approaching thunderstorm, with no way to stabilize it. It got fairly warm a couple of the days even at 9,400' elevation, and we employed the multiple venting options to prevent the interior from getting too stuffy so we could go in and change or if a kiddo wanted to relax on the bed or nap. We closed it down when the evenings got cool and it seemed to prevent drafts and did stay a little warmer than the outside, but I doubt it would do too much during cold winds. Another advantage to having the vestibule is that you can have a bucket toilet in there for the evenings when the gals don't want to trudge over to the vault toilet in the dark. Overall I couldn't find much to complain about with this initial outing. We added a tarp for added ground protection, which I think is necessary with rocks and pine cones/needles under there, and I would also add an aluminum sleeve splint for the potential emergency with a snapped aluminum pole.... Stop looking and buy it already
We purchased this tent for my wife and I and our 3 year old. I think it's perfect size for us and possibly one other child. Three adults would be tight but doable. I'm 6'2 and wanted the height it offers, I can confirm it's excellent. We had two Exped mega mat 10 (long wide) next to each other and could fit one more. Our heads were at the back door and feet towards the vestibule and we had a solid 2 feet of room the whole width of the tent to the door for changing and gear. The vestibule is an absolute game changer. I couldn't imagine not having it now. Fits plenty of gear and even at my height it is awesome. I do have to duck a bit coming into it but it's not a big deal at all. I set the tent up the first time with the help of my toddler and we still managed to do ... I do have to duck a bit coming into it but it's not a big deal at all. I set the tent up the first time with the help of my toddler and we still managed to do it in about 15 minutes. The main body is pretty simple and the lengths of strap on the eyelets for the poles help out quite a bit when locking the poles in. The rain fly was a bit confusing at first to figure out the orientation but now we got the process down and it's pretty easy to get right. There is plenty of guy line spots and there are extra lines included. All in all I love this tent and highly recommend it. As for the bad so far there really isn't much. The stakes are pretty terrible in anything other than grass but I expected that and brought some large nails to use instead. The few stakes I did use bent badly in packed dirt but I don't really count that against the tent. When tying down the vestibule make sure the door is zipped shut and don't tighten that side up too much as it makes the door hard to re zip when opened. Before you set it up the first time watch a couple YouTube videos because the directions are terrible. The bag is great and you don't have to get to crazy with rolling the tent up to get it back in. As of now I couldn't recommend this tent any more than I already do. I don't regret it at all.... Show more
