I’ve only used this once during a stormy camping trip in the California Redwoods, and a few times in light to moderate rainfall around my town (northern/central CA). But so far, it’s a decent purchase. It’s not too bulky or stiff which was important for me since I’m 5’1, 125-130 lbs. I ordered a medium and at first considered sizing down because I had plenty of room inside. However, this was an advantage because I easily wore a warmer base underneath and breathability for light hiking was not an issue. I could even layer in a warm sherpa jacket for cold nights around camp and still had room. I remained dry, warm, and comfortable. The shorter sleeve length other reviewers mentioned were not a problem for me because I am on the petite side, but I do not recommend this ... MoreI’ve only used this once during a stormy camping trip in the California Redwoods, and a few times in light to moderate rainfall around my town (northern/central CA). I’m only giving this 4 stars because of the hood. As others mentioned, it is definitely on the small side. I have thick, curly hair so maybe if I straightened my hair or braided it out the way it’d work better. Still, the hood doesn’t offer complete coverage in my opinion. If I find anything with a similar style and larger hood I might consider upgrading sooner rather than later because the hood was a bit of a letdown.

I'm 5' 2" with a short torso, I have boobs and a butt and this rain jacket was perfect for me! As a personal preference, I don't love rain jackets that velcro around the wrists, (usually because the arms are too long) so I really enjoyed the elastic on the wrists of this jacket. I was easy to get on and off, the hood worked perfectly and the fact that the zipper goes high up around your neck really kept me warm in the Oregon rain. From my experience, it's waterproof and I was dry every time I took it off after wearing it in major downpours. My only dislike about this jacket is that it doesn't have any means to shorten up the hood so a lot of times when I had to put the hood on, it covered up some of my vision because the top of the hood spilled over my face.

I bought this rain hoodie because I wear a petite size, and the jacket was seemingly cropped and somewhat boxy enough to fit a thick warm layer underneath. As another reviewer stated, this jacket is NOT waterproof. Sure, it might work adequately in light rain, but if the skies have opened up and you're out for an extended period of time, you'll become totally soaked. It started with the wrist bands, and then the drawstring at bottom. Before long, the lining and my fleece underneath were soaked. If a 100% waterproof jacket is a priority, I'd find an alternative.

I think the material itself is fine, and the weatherproofing is definitely great. However, I have two problems with this jacket; one, the hood is tiny. If you zip up all the way, your head will uncomfortably squeeze through and you can't wear your hair in a ponytail or anything because it won't fit. Two, the sleeve fitting is off. I got a Large for an oversized, looser fit. However, when I have my arms straight down my sides, the sleeves sit at my wrists which is fine. But if I raise my arms, the sleeve roll up uncomfortably and sit mid forearm.
I owned a multi color of this jacket. A combination of blue and black. It fit me so perfectly that I want to buy another one. So, I bought this light blue. Sad to say, the fit is bigger, the arms is wider. North face should watch out for the inconsistency of their sizing to avoid returns.I wore this in 40's degree weather in DC. and I feel fine. I zipped up all the way to cover my neck and the hood to cover my face, I survived without feeling like I am freezing to death. The material is really really good. It goes really well wearing blue jeans and leggings. It's waterproof and wind proof. I truly loved this jacket if only it fit me like my old ones.
I read a lot of reviews and chose my sizing very carefully and am so pleased with the product. For reference, I’m 5’2 130ish lbs and usually go for a small for fitted, medium for a little room. I knew i wanted this as a shell for layering, so I gambled and got a large. I’m so happy with the fit for a petite person! It’s pretty boxy as expected, but due to the cropped nature of the jacket, it fits as a regular length jacket should fit me (but without being too long like they usually are) arms on the large fit properly (almost too short even), so I definitely understand the recurring complaint about the sleeve length being short. Can’t attest to the rainproof aspect yet, but judging by other reviews, I’m confident it will work.
I had to sent the old damaged one for repair. It was beyond repair item. Their guaranty products and customer services are excellent! The new one has beautiful hue. Functionality was good. I missed the old one. It went to a newest design fir a semi light wind winter jacket a 300. This new one design is less complex, less features! What I like the most was their special wing proof coat lining! Missing the foldable hood and velcro snap. Missing front closure velcro. Old one was more solid built and top stitching on it. Inner pocket was harder and top shell as well. Please! I do not intend to offend no one here. I wanted to express my honest experiences on this type of garment high performances. The North face wind and winter coat are Super!! Many thanks!
Nice and easy rain jacket. Not too short in body (but I am short, so it hits perfect, could be short if you are really tall). Fit is a little oversized, but I like it. Not tight on tummy, and room for a long sleeve layer in my arms and body. It sounds a little crunchy as you move but most rain jackets do. White color is clean and crisp looking.175lbs, 5ft, bought an xl.
I wanted a waterproof jacket to walk my dog in and through the pacific northwest rainy winters. I've worn it twice so far and it's stellar! It needed to also breathe, as we walk like we mean it. A waterproof jacket that breathes can be tricky w. This jacket not only breathes, but kept me dry and seen! Bright colors are a must in the grey weather! The sleeves are a bit on the short side for me as my arms are a little longer than average, but not a deal breaker.
Sigh…the search for a proper rain jacket continues for me. I got this jacket on sale and the color is an amazing pink. We’ve had torrential rain and heavy downpours and I wore this jacket however my back is always left feeling damp which is so uncomfortable especially when it’s cold out. I’ve also tried it out with light rain and seems to hold up but still felt a tad damp. The hood also doesn’t have any strings so it does pull back a bit. If you wear glasses, they definitely get wet. I have to use an umbrella with this jacket for maximum coverage which defeats the purpose of a “waterproof rain jacket”.
