I really like trying new skincare and I picked this up on a whim one day. I had been using niacinamide serums which I was having good results with, but I wanted to use one that was more focused on hydration. I have oily skin and live in a very dry climate. I had used their original hyaluronic serum but didn't notice a difference over a few weeks of use and I did not like how it sat on my face. Now I just use that one in my hair and I use the marine serum on my face. It's made my face noticeably softer and plumper and I've only been using it for about a month now. My face can be sensitive but I haven't noticed it looking any more red than usual. I will be repurchasing after I run out of it, I might try using it in a spray bottle too since it's a very watery consistency.

Daily staple! I started out with the Ordinarys original hyaluronic acid and liked it well enough but a friend told me to try this one. The consistency of this is very thin, honestly like water which I really like but some may not. The original has more of a tacky feeling that I find isn’t great for layering and is harder to absorb and almost suds up like a cleaner if I put it on when my face is wet. I apply the marine hyaluronics after I’ve cleansed and misted my face liberally with the Avene thermal water (I have a review for this). I pat dry my eyes and chin just so my face isn’t dripping but is still wet then apply this by patting it onto my face with my palms. THEN I roll the 2 together on my face with my jade roller that i keep in the freezer (pro-tip) until ... MoreDaily staple! One thing to note is that because this is such a thin formula it can come out really fast and spill out of your palm so be careful of that. I love the ordinary products though because they are so affordable and work amazingly if you know how to use them. If you’re someone who occasionally gets facials with extractions or does them at home (would not recommend) it is absolutely 🔑 that your skin is HYDRATED. This allows for impurities to easily be removed and so there is less need to pick so scarring doesn’t occur 🥰

I live in a dry extremely low humidity climate so hyaluronic acid is not an ideal option due to its moisture-pulling nature that further drys out my skin. However, I have discovered that this serum works WONDERS on my dehydrated and dry skin. It has noticeably reduced my acne, leaving my face remarkably smooth. My skin now feels healthy and revitalized, appearing plump instead of dried out. Think of a dried out dish sponge vs a soaked dish sponge haha. On occasion, I use The Ordinary's rosehip oil between the Marine serum and my moisturizer, resulting in remarkably smooth skin. ;)I love the consistency of this serum as well it’s incredibly easy to work with and a little goes a long way. Applies like foamy water. Lightweight and workable
15 April 2023

I was not expecting this product to be the consistency of water, it kind of put me off at first. I live in extreme low humidity (under 10% most of the year) and heavy humectants do more damage than benefit. I use an absurd amount of this stuff layering everyday on wet skin and I seal it in with heavy occlusives. I've seen a significant difference around my lips. It's immediately noticable. I like it. I have very dry sensitive/reactive skin, but this product never irritated me. I recommend using it as a base layer for hydration, or for oily skin types in normal weather conditions.

Great product, great price
21 February 2023

I have quite oily to normal skin, which regularly gets tight, rather than dry. For this I need hydration rather than moisture and this product is perfect. It's thin consistency means you can daub on as little as needed and I can target specific areas - I find 3 small drops in my palm applied to my face with my fingertips is plenty. It instantly stops my skin feeling tight and the hydration lasts all day without adding to any oiliness my skin has, which creamy moisturisers do. It absorbs really well and doesn't leave any residue or stickiness. I apply sunscreen on top and it doesn't affect that, it just leaves my skin looking good. It also doesn't make my sensitive skin react. I'm very pleased with this product, perfect for when a little bit of hydration is needed!

I can't say how this works alone because I always use serums and lotion after, but it really works well!I don't like hyaluronic acid, it just doesn't work well on me and makes my face feel dry and tight.I use a pretty drying face wash (Olay Deep Gel Cleaner with Tea Tree oil) so I need some instant hydration. I use this first, followed by Amino Acid + B5 with 2 drops of Pycnogenol, then facial lotion. Glycolic Acid 3x a week. Works great!I'm 42 and my skin has never looked better! This is a great alternative to HA, and has no interactions. Goes on like water, doesn't irritate skin, and is wonderful as a base for other serums!Worth giving it a shot!

Lovely hydration booster

I love the how lightweight, fast absorbing and versatile this essence/serum is. You can use it in between your toner and serum for an extra hydro-boost, replace your thicker winter serum for the summer season, put it in your facial mist to strengthen your mid-day spritz hydration etc. More recently, I have been adding a few drops of lotus extract water into the bottle for improved anti-wrinkle effect and to cut down time in my daily skincare routine. It really is up to you with how you want to incorporate the product - but do check your current skincare ingredients to avoid active ingredient conflicts. A small point of note: The product contains low percentage of salicylic acid (BHA) which for those with dry skin or looking for pure moisture boost may find it a ... MoreI love the how lightweight, fast absorbing and versatile this essence/serum is. Maybe For Slightly Younger Skin

I really liked the idea of this but I have found that in practice the product doesn't deliver much for me. I think it might just be that I'm in my late 40s and sometimes need a more active or higher end product. This is liquid so a little messier to put on with a pipette than an oil or serum. Great profile and seems to have good ingredients but in reality I didn't get a hydrated feel from this like I usually do from hyaluronic products. It feels pleasant on and skin feels momentarily softened but it wore off after about 10 mins. There haven't seemed to be any long term benefits either. I tried varying quantities and have used it for over a month but despite the great price it isn't worth buying again for me.
