Almost bought this book several times from Amazon. I ended up here looking for a cheaper alternative and wasn't disappointed. Ended up buying quite the book haul in the end. I will say this though, some of the books I wanted were cheaper in their ebay store, I put this down to them shipping from different warehouses. So I'd recommend checking their ebay store too for the best deals and prices.The quality Matched the description, and the 'well read' book I ordered was just that, and NOT missing pages and scribbled in like books I've bought in the past from other sellers.I'm so pleased with all the books I bought here and will come back here again and again.As for the story itself... It's funny and relatable with lovable characters and I find myself sharing quotes and lines with anyone in ears shot as my giggles are overheard. Can't wait to work my way through the series!!! This was recommended by a friend and true to her word, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me gripped and wanting to read 'just one more chapter'..... that turned into reading the whole book in 2 days which is unheard of for me!I likened it to where my mum lives and I was imagining her neighbours or famous actors as the characters! Cant wait to see this as a TV series/film, and can't wait to read the next book (already ordered!!).

A wonderful read, totally brilliant.

I was intrigued by the idea of the Thursday Murder Club, and I do like a nice Murder book. I was hooked from page one, I think it was the way the characters slowly developed on every page. I like the way we had different angles and different characters in each chapter, it made it somehow more real. The conclusion was a big surprise and carefully hidden until the very end. Needless to say I have read all the others in the series. I have become quite attached to the characters and cant wait for the next one. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes value for money, every page is a delight.

I love,love,loved this. It is a murder mystery set in a quaint English town but the main investigators are residents of a retirement village. Well, the police are the actual investigators but the oldies help the police more than they'd like to admit. The main residents who help solve cold cases are the Thursday Murder Club and they meet weekly in the jigsaw room. Each have various skills from their working lives which assists in them solving the cases. While solving the case of a local murdered developer another person is murdered and links to past murders unfold. Along the way the murder club learns that the past has a way of catching up with you and that murder and love are often intertwined. This was engrossing, heartfelt, poignant and funny. Enjoyable but Flawed Debut

Yes, everything makes sense at the end, but there are so many twists at the end, it is a little overwhelming. The book is funny, although at times it feels like it is trying too hard to be charming and funny. The police let the lead characters get away with a little too much, although I usually ignore that in the books I read, so this is worth noting in passing. I did struggle a bit with the justice done at the end of this book. The story is told in present tense from multiple points of view, but we always follow which character is our focus. This is one of those books with some obvious flaws, but I still enjoyed it overall. If you are interested in it, I definitely recommend you pick it up. Ill be visiting the characters again for the sequel.

I wouldn't try my hand at crime around these silver haired sleuths!

I've often wondered about my golden years - would I be lonely because I never had kids? What if I outlive my husband, what then? This book has completely changed my perspective and erased those fears. This retirement village gave new life to its residents. There was always so much going on and people everywhere. If you wanted to be left alone, you just shut your front door. Want company? Leave your door open. Most importantly, this book showed me that even in your late 70s, early 80s, you can still form meaningful relationships and have fun! I loved so many of these characters and especially the different friendships that formed throughout the course of the story. I knew in the first 10 chapters that I'd be continuing this series, just on the characters and their humor alone. The mystery - or perhaps mysteries is the better word here - were so fun trying to solve. I really thought I had this one figured out, but Angela Lansbury, I am not. LOL! I loved the description and atmosphere of Coopers Chase - I found myself wishing I could sit on Bernard's bench with him and especially the Jigsaw Room on Thursdays! I look forward to seeing what these silver haired sleuths get up to next!

Quirky, lovable characters. Twists & turns everywhere.

The characters in this book are so lovable and honestly make me want to ask my grandparents so many more questions about their youth. They are so quirky and fun to read their crazy adventure. So many twists and turns. Such a fun read. Immediately went and got the 2nd book! I highly recommend this read to everyone.

Why aren't there more books about old people?
