The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be follows a group of diverse children as they each build their very own hot-air balloons. With plenty of pink, a bounty of blue, orange and green and yellow too, this vibrant hot-air balloon adventure celebrates every child’s one-of-a-kind strengths as well as teamwork and acceptance of differences. This timeless message of sharing our individual gifts is especially important in our world today. Together with Joanna, you and your kids will take a journey of growth and imagination as you learn in full color that “the world needs who you were made to be. Most of all, the world needs both you and me.” About the Author Joanna Gaines is the co-founder of Magnolia, a home and lifestyle brand that she started with her husband, Chip, in 2003. She is the bestselling author of The Magnolia Story, Magnolia Table, and Homebody, as well as editor-in-chief of Magnolia Journal, a lifestyle magazine offering inspiration for your life and home. The Gaineses, along with their five kids, live on a farm in Waco, Texas, where they enjoy caring for their bustling family garden. Julianna Swaney is an illustrator whose work is inspired by whimsical details of daily life and the fairy tales she loved reading as a child. She grew up home-schooled, which allowed free range for her imagination and interests in folklore, nature, and history. She lives in Portland, Oregon, where she illustrates children’s books and works in her garden. Her delicate illustrations are created using watercolour, gouache, and coloured pencil.

I bought this for my newest addition to the family while shopping at the Silos. When I read it I knew this book needed to be in everyone’s library!! The pages are beautifully illustrated and the words will touch your heart. I plan to purchase another one next time I’m at the Silos to put in my math classroom library! I teach eighth grade and believe this book is just as relatable to them as it is to my one year old and even to myself!!

Beautiful baby book
3 August 2021

When I saw this book come out last year, I knew I wanted to buy it for our future baby. A year later, we are expecting our first and are so excited! Near the end of my first trimester, I bought this book to celebrate. It is so beautiful - both the message and imagery. It even inspired our potential nursery theme! Cannot wait to read this to our baby girl.

Disappointing quality
25 March 2022

I bought this book based on the reviews that it was a children's book with an uplifting theme and the comments of it being high quality. I do not watch Joanna Gaines TV show(s) so I did not buy it based on being a fan or follower, I am not. I was very disappointed that I received a poor quality cover. The embossing does not match up with the images. Otherwise, the paper was of good quality and the images are nice. I haven't read the story yet. If you are interested in this book, I would suggest picking it up in the store where you can make sure that it is printed properly.

It's a Favorite

Already one of my 6 year old grandson's favorite books! His 3 year old brother too. Gave it to him for his 6th birthday 🎂 this week. Can hardly wait to read it to him when they visit at the end of the month. Hope Joanna writes more similar books soon👍❤️

Joanna's Children's Book now used by Teachers in Ohio
21 November 2020

As big Fans of the Gaines Family, I purchased the "Who you were made to be", Children's book for my Daughter, a 3rd grade Teacher, who due to Covid is now an online Teacher in Hilliard Ohio. The Book not only was a hit for her Students, but the other Teachers are also ordering the Book for their Classes. The Message Joanna's Book delivers is what our Children need in this Divided World we live in. We look forward to Joanna's next Book. We would highly recommend this Book. And we also Highly recommend a Trip to the Silos, Our entire Family has been there and Loved it. Thank you all for being such Positive Role Models.

Slightly Damaged
2 May 2021

I want to start out this review by saying that I've been buying products from Magnolia for years and never had an issue until recently. My last three orders have all come damaged - including this book. I ordered a candle along with the book and the candle, which was already protected in a box, came wrapped in four layers of bubble wrap while my book was just laying in the bottom of the box with no protection whatsoever. Because of this, the top left corner of the book was smushed during the shipping process. I ordered this as a Mother's Day gift and there is no way to get a replacement in time so I guess I'm giving a damaged gift. I gave my review 4 stars because the book is wonderful but the packaging was not.

This is so not just for children
20 November 2020

Though this book is for children. In our world as it is now everyone needs to read and understand it’s meaning.I am planning on changing my graduation book I give to everyone from Oh the Places You Will Go. By Dr. Seuss to this book. I work in a very diverse health field and have for 38 years. I was having a rough day when this arrived and I read it shared it with a few friends and I cried. Jo great job. Thank you for making people remember that some things I think too many have forgotten.

Uplifting and Inspiring
3 May 2021

I am a third grade teacher. I saw this book at a local store and picked it up and thumbed through the pages. I immediately loved the illustrations and message throughout the book. I knew that it would be perfect for my class. Sure enough, they loved it! They enjoyed it so much, and the message is very heartwarming and encouraging that I ended up putting the first copy into my class library. I want them to be able to read it on their own as many times as they want. I bought a second copy to use as a read aloud! Highly recommend!
