I have had the same meat thermometer forever and thought I should get a new one, so this is the one I chose. It looks exactly as it is pictured, is exactly as described and I am looking forward to using it this Thanksgiving for my turkey and ham. It says it does it all from meat, to candy, to kitchen oil, but I will use it for meat only as I have ordered a heavy duty one for the deep fryer and another candy thermometer just like the old one I used for 30 years. So I hope this thing will last a long time, if not, I will come back and complain about it! lol

Seems like this will work as described for food and meat. However, the description says it will also work for oil (for frying), and it does not. The temperature reading was quite inaccurate for my oil when I used it, so I had to just go off of intuition as I usually do (which actually turned out quite well this time, but I digress). Thought I could kill two bird with one stone for this purchase (meat thermometer and oil thermometer), but unfortunately it was too good to be true. Will have to purchase a separate thermometer for frying.

This thermometer is really all you need. Simple and efficient. No need for fancy buttons or screens. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I have not had it long enough to make sure it won't break.

This is the second product that I have used from ThermoPro. It worked like a champ i have used it 2 times since I received it. The long Probe is a great feature so u dont get your hand to close to the fire. I have used it on chicken and Pork tenderloin. I cook at night alot and the light feature works really well and some other Instant Read Thermometer i have used not bright at all. Also i really like Hold feature for temp first time I have seem that feature. In all I would say this is a great product with many features u would not see on instant read thermometer for this price.

I really like the fact that this is longer then some of the other instant-read thermometers that I have seen. It also gives the temperature pretty quickly which is also great. There is nothing worse then having to hold your hand in the grill area and feeling like you are almost medium-rare yourself. This also has a hold button that is great so that you will know what the temperature of the meat is and not get an inaccurate reading after the thermometer comes out of the meat. Tested how accurate it was with my more expensive thermometer and it showed the same temperature. All in all if you are looking for a ... The TP-01A is my 4th ThermoPro. It is a nice compact little thermometer. I really like the long probe and blue back lighting, its relatively fast, and it is very accurate. I tested it in ice water against my other 3 TP thermometers all were within 1* of each other . I wish it was a little faster, but its not all that bad. Its first use was on some chicken, probed to 165*, it was perfect, nice juicy and tender. Its next use was on some pork belly burnt ends. Probed it and was at the propper 195* before saucing, covering and finishing to a perfectly tender 205*. I really enjoy using it and so glad it is in my cooking arsenal. I look forward to its next use. I highly recommend the TP-01A thermometer, and I would definitely buy it again when/if needed.
Seems to work ok except the battery cover falls off easily. But not enough to always anticipate it, so it occasionally falls into hot food. I’d probably buy something different next time, just because of this issue, though it’s usable.
The cover for the batteries is constantly falling off so it's a real pain. I'm going to just go ahead and get one with a better design. Other than that it's a great meat thermometer but it's just annoying with the cover always popping off.
