My husband stumbled across these many years ago and it is the best thermal mug we have ever found, keeping drinks piping hot for many hours. I bought my own last year, my son has since bought one and this is my husbands second one due to the lid on his first finally admitting defeat and asking for a well earned retirement. My daughter is now wanting one, but will have to save some pennies first. They fit in most cup holders, but just be careful when you have tightened the lid and closed the drinking holes as the pressure sometimes makes it difficult to unscrew the lid. Just open the drinking holes back up to relieve the pressure and you will be able to unscrew the lid again. You will not be disappointed in it's thermal properties.

I loved it at first. It kept my coffee really hot when I kept it in the closed position for a LONG time!! This morning my grandson had a baseball game so I took my 2cd morning cup of coffee with me. About 1/2 through drinking it, all of a sudden I couldn’t get anything out in the open position!! After opening and closing several times, I went to the men’s room to see if washing it would help. As I went to put it under the water and turn it, IT FELL INTO PIECES in the sink!!!!! I tried putting it back together but it won’t stay connected anymore. I’m so disappointed in the new top.Steve

So glad to see Thermos making these again. It will replace one I lost on a trip. They made one after the original that had a handle and was not as convenient to carry or stick in a cup holder. It does a remarkable job keeping hot drinks hot. Extremely durable, leakproof, and easy to clean. Heck, I might get another at this price in case this one goes missing!

The best insulated mug of several that I've tried. It keeps hot drinks hot for far longer than any of the mugs I tried before this one, which makes ME feel like a mug for not buying one sooner. Highly recommended; just take special care cleaning the lid, which does separate for easy access, otherwise the milk coffee dregs can leave a funny taste.
Thermos SK1005BKTRI4 Stainless King Vacuum-insulated Travel Tumbler, 16ozWhen this Thermos was delivered I was surprised to see that it was packaged only in a bubble lined mailing envelope, without a cardboard box. The envelope did not appear to be damaged, but the thermos had a large dent in the side and a smaller one on the stainless steel drinking rim at the top. Removing the drinking lid showed that the dent in the side extended into the the inner lining of the thermos. So I assume that the dents occurred in the factory or in an intermediate warehouse - I would have assumed such an item would be discarded or sold as damaged merchandise.Since I needed a leak proof thermos a few days later, I decided to test it to see if the vacuum between the inner and outer ... MoreThermos SK1005BKTRI4 Stainless King Vacuum-insulated Travel Tumbler, 16ozWhen this Thermos was delivered I was surprised to see that it was packaged only in a bubble lined mailing envelope, without a cardboard box. Removing the drinking lid showed that the dent in the side extended into the the inner lining of the thermos. So I assume that the dents occurred in the factory or in an intermediate warehouse - I would have assumed such an item would be discarded or sold as damaged merchandise.Since I needed a leak proof thermos a few days later, I decided to test it to see if the vacuum between the inner and outer containers was still present, and did a test in the refrigerator and on the counter to see how long warm water would stay warm. The vacuum insulation layer still was effective, so I gave it the real life test a few days later, and found that it performs as well as I had expected based on the product description. After about 5 hours in a parked car in 30 degree weather on a cloudy day, the hot water I'd put into the thermos had cooled to a pleasantly warm water to drink on the way home. The lid also appears to be leak proof in the quick tests I've done, and should remain so unless the parts of the lid become damaged, or the gasket that makes the seal gets dirty.
I bought ine of these about 7 years ago. I have used it daily for work & on days off, vacations etc. I ride a dual sport motorcycle and go 4X4ing often. I don't work an office job either. The one i bought about 7 years ago is so beat up it hardly stands up on ots own anymore. I replaced the gaskets about 3 years ago as it started seeping slightly. I finally decided to get a new one as my original was still working gteat but so beat up. This mug keeps things nice and hot for about 3 hours, warm enough for about 5. The thing I like about it is how rugged it is. None of the plastic lid parts are exposed so when i drop it or it falls, which I have done often, it wont break the lid. This is one of the reasons I bought another one. The finish has held up well even though ... MoreI bought ine of these about 7 years ago. This is one of the reasons I bought another one. The finish has held up well even though the abuse I have put it through. It is not 100% leak proof even when new, but it rarely will leak mor than a drop or 2 even whe upside down in my motorcycle side bags. The fact that I bought another one of these after owning my original for so long should be an indicator of how good this mug is. It fits well in any cup holder. You do need to pay attention when you clean it. I usually take the lid apart and the gaskets off and clean them really well about once a week even though I wash it daily without taking it apart. You will know that the gaskets are failing because you'll start hearing air seep out when you screw the lid down and close the lid with a hot beverage in the mug. The gasket sets are easy to replace and they come in a two pack for just a few dollars. My first set lasted about four years and the second one I put on is still working on my original. Overall this is an awesome mug, very tough and rugged. It's not the most pretty one in the world but if you need a tough one because you're not an office dweller and you like the outdoors and don't want to have to worry about something hitting the ground even when it's full of your favorite beverage then this is the one for you.
I've had it for about 6 months now and it's been great. But I just don't feel like it's keeping my coffee hot. I could be my doing, it could be the weather change, I'll give it the benefit of a doubt. Maybe I should be using boiling hot water in a kettle instead of heating 16oz of water in the microwave for 3 mins on high. When I do that it's steaming hot. But I'm drinking some right now, it's been 3 hours since I've kept it in the Thermos and it's warm, not hot. It's my observation, it could be my doing. And I thought the brand logo was full metal but the top part is a thin decal sticker that's peeling off, the metallic-like sticker on the bottom of that is wearing out. I know I'm being nit-picky but again, it's an observation. I still like it. Nothing's meant to ... MoreI've had it for about 6 months now and it's been great. I know I'm being nit-picky but again, it's an observation. I still like it. Nothing's meant to last forever, but I hope it stays together for another 6 months. Cheers. Edit Nov 24: I can confirm that it was my doing. So boil your water if you want it hot throughout the day. Microwaving your water especially when you're in a cold climate just won't do. As for the leak proof lid, my cat tipped it over and no leak. Always close it when you're not drinking from it, that's always important for safety as well as cleanliness.
I'm a bit of a travel mug and flask connoisseur, and this is one of my favourites. Good size and it fits into my car drink well. Lots of travel mugs don't. I've had this for a few months now. The colour hasn't faded. It keeps the drink hot (or cold) forever, so I have to ensure I add in a little cold if it's a hot drink, otherwise I'd be making me a drink I couldn't drink until about 6 to 8 hours later. Make sure you don't over fill it. Make sure you set it to close and tip it up over the sink before popping it into your bag, as some liquid can sit in the lid mechanism if it's very full.
A product that works and does what you expect from it - a rare thing! My expectations from a travel mug are pretty basic. 1. Most importantly it must not leak AT ALL. This is the first mug I have owned that does not leak (after trying 4 or 5 different brands over the years), you can knock it over, tip it upside down, run with it, do whatever you reasonably want to and it doesn't leak. 2. It must be designed in such a way that it is comfortable/practical to drink from and without the tea/coffee ending up on your shirt - again tick. 3. It should keep drinks hot/cold. I cant say about the insulation regarding keeping drinks cold but with regards to keeping them hot it does the job perfectly for my needs. I tend to make the drink then leave the lid off to let it cool ... MoreA product that works and does what you expect from it - a rare thing! My expectations from a travel mug are pretty basic. 1. I cant say about the insulation regarding keeping drinks cold but with regards to keeping them hot it does the job perfectly for my needs. I tend to make the drink then leave the lid off to let it cool until it is just above drinking temperature which can be 10-15 minutes after making. Then I put the lid on it and it will stay at drinking temperature for 3-4 hours. If you don't let it cool first of course you can keep your drink hotter for longer. 4. I want to be able to clean the mug properly including the lid mechanism. Again with this mug someone has actually considered what is required and delivered it. It is a 2 second job to remove the mechanism and clean it. That is all i really need from a mug but in addition it is guaranteed for 50 years which made parting with the £22 a much easier proposition for me. It has a tea bag hook inside if you would make use of one of those. It has a small circumference base meaning it will fit into most cup holders in cars etc. I don't generally write reviews but I thought the design of this mug merited my spending 10 minutes so others don't have to go through the same trial and error routine as I did.
We prefer the Thermos brand for our coffee tumbler, it out performs ALL other brands and we have owned the competition. If we are traveling we can pour a fresh tumbler of hot coffee and sip it throughout the day and it stays hot all day long. I have poured a cup in the morning and forgotten it in my car when I went into work and several hours later I get in my car to go home, I take a sip and it is still warm even up to 8 hours later- true story! We have owned this brand of coffee tumbler for years.
