We noticed that the top portion wasn't seating evenly to the bottom portion. The valve handle on the bottom wouldn't readily pull open. Thus, we had outgassing while driving. We determined the probable cause was what you have to do when you reseat the top after dumping. Watch the YouTube video by Mark Davies on how to use the porta. I think this was the only site I saw that mentioned the "clipping in" of the top. There was no mention of this in the Thetford manuals that I could find. Otherwise, it is a good product. I like its height because I'm older. Got great customer service from Camping World.

Easy to set up, comfortable to use. Only glitch was convincing the teen boys not to use masses of toilet paper each time they used it. Made for less pleasant emptying process the first time. There were a few grumbles when the toilet paper was rationed but wow made trip to the drop point much quicker, easier and all round more pleasant. Lasted three days before needing emptying with 6 people. Didn't smell, which is amazing (remember the mention of multiple teen boys). Only negative, empty before it gets to the indicated level or bag the unit before moving. We made the mistake of ignoring other review advice and had some leakage when moving it. Apart from that, very happy with the purchase and it will see plenty of action in the future (again - teen boys 🙄)

Compared to my first portable camp toilet retired due to broken parts, the Thetford Porta Potti has replaceable parts to continue the life of the toilet. The seat lid clips in and the piped outlet and handle makes it much easier to empty at RV outlets. Also the cap on the piped outlet ensures no messy situations in-transit. Mine has never been used outdoors, but as the daily toilet during renovations. Invaluable.

Good system that operates well and is a good height. Just remember to lay the catch tank flat when emptying. I see so many people sit it on its side to empty and then complain that it leaks on them when emptying it. There are some good videos on how to operate and empty this simple to use system. Also, don't forget to use the flush aid additive and break down solution for the catch tank. Work smarter, not harder. :-)
We were a little worried about the possibility of smell as useing in a slwb toyota van.However have found this to be unfounded. With the chemicals and good seals. Would not know its there.Easy to clean and use. My wife especially finds it handy, preferring not to use public facilities.We had problems with the first unit. However it was replaced with no fuss at all. Very happy with the purchase.

Now... this is where it got ‘interesting’ let’s say gag worthy! First time ever emptying a Porta Potti and I was in hurtsville. Not sure weather my chemical mix was off but wow... that wasn’t fun in any way shape or form. I’d suggest doing your research first and maybe asking others what the best chemical or treatment for these things. We were only away for a long weekend... cannot imagine emptying that thing after allowing to brew for a week.All in all... very happy with the Thetford 365, holds a decent amount... bullet proof drop test design, super comfy height would definitely recommend.
Ok, so taking some time to review the Thetford Porta Potti 365. I usually don't review a product unless I've owned it for at least 1 year. After all it doesn't matter how good a product is at first - it's the lengevity. This aside, I can say so far this is one of the most important things you can buy for your camper and this dutch designed Thetford portable toilet is flawless. I have had no problems so far and it's very simple to set up. I recommend not spending big dollars on chemicals and using public toilets when possible. I personally bought Portasol (Australian made) at Bunnings for $17. I couldn't see myself paying more and you shouldn't ever. So, spend the extra money or get this great unit on sale. You won't regret it.
After some research on bought this compact toilet for our regular camping trips. I like the pipe system for the waste disposal and generally it makes a sturdy impression. The only negative thing from an engineer's perspective is the bad design and execution of the flushing pipe inside the toilet bowl. It's installed horizontally instead of an angle which means the water splashes outside the toilet bowl each time you pump. You must be very gentle with the flusher, and don't press it too hard. I'll do some modifications to fix that problem but for that money I expected Thetfords quality department would have tested their system at least once before releasing it to the public.. apparently not! Hence only 3 out if 5 stars
Our first use of this unit was with a family of 4 over three days. We set this unit up following the guide exactly. We used 'all' of the recommended chemicals, top tank additive, bottom tank additive (blue), bowl spray and the correct paper. The unit stayed clean without any unpleasant odour. At the end of the three days the unit was full. The empty experience was surprisingly simple and clean with no offensive odour.I would rather empty 10 of these units before using some of the public conveniences available (not that there were any available).The flush mechanism could be better designed so highly recommend the bowl spray. A slightly larger seat would have been better. Overall happy with choice.
