A Dash Camera Well worth serious consideration

Great dash cam. Video quality is better than some 2K units, even at night. Comes with a cigarette lighter socket attachment so does not need to be hard wired to be used. This unit automatically updates the timestamp each time the unit is powered on even when plugged into a cigarette lighter socket meaning you have a valid record in the event of an incident. Some other units do not do this. Has red light and speed camera warnings as well as collision warnings. Be nice if the volume setting could be adjusted a bit louder as it is a bit quiet. Has socket to plug in another secondary camera. Vertical adjustment is done via a coin slot on the side of the cam. Well worth serious consideration.

Annoying software

Voice commentary is impossible to turn off, even when the volume is set to zero and has a particularly bad American accent. The manual is not very helpful and isn't comprehensive. If new versions of the software permit change of voice and complete volume control I would be happy to recommend. Until then, save your money!

It works but the software that comes with it is clunky. Picture quality is OK-ish. 32Mb max card size is too restrictive. You cannot turn off the blue light on the rear camera. I suspect better products exist...

Excellent product with just a few niggles to make 100%

Overall functions of the dashcam are excellent and would deserve 5 stars if the product was not quite so finicky with the SD cards. Even with the Thinkware approved micro SD cards, I have both the 32g and 64g, it still at times identifies a problem on initial start up first thing in the morning with the unit requesting for a memory card to be inserted or memory card error followed by 'unit is restarting' before it settles down to do it's job. It does not however lose any pre-recorded data. There appear to be a few discrepancies between set-up in the PC viewer and the Smart phone App, I.E. time setting in the PC viewer is by World location and the Smart phone App is by GMT +/- hours. The time zone in the PC viewer does not appear to change the time in the unit. As in other reviews it would be nice if the control buttons on the unit could be illuminated and an LED to indicate recording, allowing the rather annoying voice information to be turned off . I would still recommend this unit as it appears well made, a good design a great image and useful control over its many functions. I have not as others have mentioned had any issues with the WIFI connection to the Smartphone. (iPhone 7) DIY fitted to BMW E39 with no problems.

Great Camera & Features
30 April 2020

I bought this just after xmas and have been using it for the last 5 months. Works very well. Very clear video and audio. Has some great features. The main thing I like about it, is the fixed speed camera warning. It's great as a deterrent for watching your speed. Even though it can be a bit annoying at times. There are also regular updates provided on the website for fixed speed camera locations. (Seems to be monthly) The mobile App seems to work well, and you can easily adjust the features through it.Probably the only problem is with putting in SD cards. It's very sensitive to the types of cards you use. I found that Sandisk Ultra micro sd cards work with it without issues, but I had previously tried numerous other good cards which gave me endless trouble with ... MoreI bought this just after xmas and have been using it for the last 5 months. Needs improvement!!annoying wifi keeps switching off!

Excellent quality 1080p front & rear camera's.Weak wifi does not connect easily,u have to manually switch on wifi which auto switches off if it doesn't connect within 2 minutes, annoying this Is!!fails to connect a lot of times as it doesnt even get picked up on the wifi list until you keep refreshing for ages! For a dash cam that has 1080p both camera's 64gb max compatibility is not enough, this is bad Thinking by thinkware!no led indication when it's recording so u can't tell whether it's recording or not, again this is poor.the good thing about this is the quality of the picture but has a lot of negatives than positive. Not all cameras have all modes
5 April 2017

The Thinkware cams have a variey of options so choose carefully. Front only Front and rear Various memory cards (third party ones don't seem to work) All functions are only available in the hardwire version Its big and semi permanent with no sucker A mobius action camera is a cheap alternative if you don't want GPS, WIFI, annoying speed zone warnings etc

Not for heavy vehicles
1 August 2021

Not overly impressed with this unit. I bought this for my truck and it has become obvious that it is not suited to heavy vehicle use. The 'Lane departure warning system' and the 'forward collision warning system' are too sensitive and and go off continually which I eventually just turned off. Also the G sensor is too sensitive for heavy vehicles; it beeps at the slightest bump. You can't see the live view while driving for those of you that might think this is the case. The mobile phone app is alright but nothing too impressive.I would not recommend buying this unit for a heavy vehicle of any sort.

What is there to think about? This has to be the best dashcam out there, add the rear cam and you are golden. Video has great definition and contrast, software allows zoom feature to check for plate numbers and other details. Cam offers you lane departure and following too close warnings with different degrees of sensitivity, also has traffic cam info (though this is spotty). Nice feature that is add-on for most of the other cams is a low battery voltage switch which you can set to turn off cam should battery run low during "Parking Mode", yes the cam is both motion and impact sensitive and will record action around car when you are not there. Very nice cam.
