Thomastik DP100 Dominant Pro Violin String Set 4/4
The Dominant Pro set DP100 delivers focus, warmth and outstanding projection with a fast response for a modern playing style. It is designed to enhance the character of the iconic Dominant strings with extended natural modulation possibilities and to adapt their traditional concept of low-tensioned strings to modern standards. This improves the instrumentās free projection capacity in a sustainable manner. After stringing, the Dominant Pro impresses with a more bell-like ringing sound. While maintaining a well-balanced and open brilliance, the set quickly develops its distinct warmth and focus. These strings immediately respond to bow impulses and can handle strong bow pressure at a slower bow speed. This allows players to shape a focused sound within a wide span of dynamics for both a gentle and powerful projection. When choosing Dominant Pro, professionals wonāt have to compromise when creating rich sound colors at a high volume.

I wasn't certain that I would like the Dominant Pro strings as well as my other Dominant strings that have a crisp sound. But the more I play on the Pro strings the better they sound. They have a very rich and smooth sound that I love

Well, I have not tried Dominant Pro Thomastik Infeld before. Looking for longer-lasting, more affordable strings for community orchestral playing. Have regrettably moved on (temporarily) from Eva Pirazzi Gold. The Dominants took at least 13 days to settle down and for the spongy feel to go for the concert two days ago. They are a different feel and sound to the Eva Pirazzi Gold. A few "scratchy" notes where I have to be mindful of. But so far am happy to give them a go and see how good they sound 6 months and a year down the track. One thing's for sure, I always get excited putting on new strings

These are very nice sounding strings on my Holstein Traditional Lord Wilton violin. You can feel a difference under your fingers with improved playability. They are a little slow to settle in, requiring daily tuning adjustments (and sometimes even within a practice session), but they tune very easily. And the sound is worth this minor inconvenience. Overall very happy with these strings and as always Fiddlershop service is exceptional.

Put them on yesterday (had PIās on that were pretty awesome, but I couldnāt wait to try these out) First impression: G and D fast, responsive and bright, very similar to PIās but maybe not as loud, which for me is a good thing. The A is good, very quick response too. The E whistles just a little when I really try, nothing like the platinum E on the PIās that whistled all the time for no reason. And sounds brighter than the warchal spiral E and more clear and ringing higher up. Overall the set is very well balanced and well matched.Iāve tried lots of strings: Obligatos, Violino, The fiddlerman brand, warchal sets and especially spiral E. (Iāve tried too many Eās!) Iāve even tried the warchal avant-garde spiral A (which is a nice match with the spiral E but tough on the finger). Most recently Iāve tried the Peter Infields wanting to see what the best strings (or at least most expensive) were like, but (sorry Michael) these Dominant Proās are going to be my go to strings. I like the whole set, so goodbye to the spiral E. The tinned E is well balanced with the set, bright and clear and really doesnāt whistle. I wonāt even try the platinum E since Iām so happy with the tin E that came with the set and had such a bad experience with the PI platinum. (I know each violin is different, the PIās are great on my daughterās 905)Plus they come in a cool box that makes you feel like itās something from Apple. And they look great on my violin all in black!
These are far superior, in terms of tone, responsiveness, and projection, to the standard Dominant strings that I normally use. I reserve them for performances.
The strings were great. They doing good.
The Dominant Pro strings are, well, wow just wow. The sound on my German violin is rich, warm, and full of color. Warmth of Obligato strings but with so much more vibrancy. Effortless fingering as well. The strings settle in quickly and are quite consistent. Thomastik has outdone themselves.Wow.
I installed a Dominant Pro set on my 2011 Heinrich Gill Model 54 almost a week ago. So far, I am very well pleased. The sound is very focused and sweet -- not saccharine, mind you, but rich. I notice an improvement in the lower positions, particularly the notes of E-F and B-C on the D and A strings respectively, which were pretty dull with previous sets. The E note on the A is also stronger; it sounded washed out on previous sets. Hopefully the Pros will play at this level for about six months (I average about an hour of practice a day). If they do, I will be ordering another set. We shall see.
Just received and changed the strings on an intermediate level instrument that had the Standard Dominant strings from the time I purchased the violin. After tuning up the Pro strings and started to play, the description " Exceptionally powerful compared to classic Dominant" is very true. It made me jump back at the difference. It was definitely worth the change.
Warm sounding string. I prefer using the silver D.
