This box has served us so well. It really does hold a family of four set up for tent camping with our dog. We went from Texas to the Canadian border boondocking through national forest land. And we were amazingly comfortable thanks to what the Motion 3 roof Box XXL allowed us to bring. Plus, the box lent itself to keeping its contents organized.

Wanted a narrow/long/tall box to replace my old Cascadia 1100, but the closest to that had the crinkle finish and I wanted smooth (sticker canvas!). I love the opening/locking mechanism compared to the other, older style. Very slick and confidence inspiring. Since the XL was essentially the same width as the L, I went for it and am happy I can have it on my '08 Subaru without it hitting the lift gate (pushed as far forward as it will go). A very solid box. Expensive, but I sold my old box to a friend after 11+ years of use, so I'm willing to pay for quality.
Retired. We travel to Colorado and Arizona in a Subaru Outback with a dog. Just the perfect addition of aerodynamic storage so we have maximum space inside the car for long trips. Goes well with the Thule GoPack set: 4 duffel bags that fit perfectly in the Cargo carrier. Incredibly easy to install, very secure installation. This is a good product.
Fitted to a bmw 5 series touring using bmw roof bars. Impressions from first 1000 miles use. 1. Box is very easy to mount on the roof bars and secure with the grip claws. 2. Lid opening from both sides is very useful when filling and removing contents - a definite must have feature. 3. The key and lock/opening work well and it is a nice feature to see the red indicator on the handle if all three lock points have not engaged. 4. Box is well made and does not feel flimsy. 5. On motorway driving at 70mph I found it had a 5mpg hit (520d was getting 48mpg with the roof box). 6. I found the box to be very quiet when full or empty. I really could only hear a little extra wind noise at 70mph with the radio off.
Perfect delivery and perfect roof cargo box for the RAV4 for my family’s needs. One word of caution though - required Thule 611330 Caprock cargo box kit to mount on the Caprock roof rack on the car (the roof rack has more than two cross bars that interfered with the non-flat bottom of the roof box; the kit provides two bars that mount on top of the Caprock bars so the bottom of the box fits). That is not sold by Halford’s; had to look online to find it. Used it when taking my daughter from the Southeast of England to uni in Inverness. Halford’s delivery service was perfect and the box was well packed.
Loving this box so far. Have the gloss black XL on my Subaru Ascent with aero bars. Installed in less than 10 minutes. Some very slight wind noise north of 65 mph, but barely noticeable. Gas mileage has taken maybe a 1 mpg hit on the highway, much better than I expected.Easily fit 3 carry ons and several loose items. Could def fit more. Interior straps do a good job of keeping things tied down; didn't notice any shifting or rattling during my 5+ hours driving.I haven't tried to un-rack it yet, but imagine it's no better or worse than other boxes of similar size.
This was the perfect solution to mount on my 4Runner OEM rack. I had the Yakima Evo before and it was a pain to install and fit for specific skis and boards. This box is better than I expected. It goes on and off in a couple minutes, clamps easy, and has plenty of room for many skis and board. I highly recommend this product.
Plenty long enough for shower tent, 10x10 canopy and screen walls, camp rockers, camp tables, fly rods, tripods, rifles, shotguns, etc. After those are loaded there's still room for wader bags, kit bags, luggage.Downside is ease of theft due to Thule 7503B AeroBlade Edge Rails. Just cut the rubber fixing straps and 2 people can easily walk away with x-bars and box along with entire content.Recommend a lift in your garage. I bought a used ATV wench and mounted it along with a few pulleys to the rafters. We can load the box on the floor, raise it, back the SUV under it and lower in onto the x-bars. Stores it out of the way as well.
