Honestly, I do not know what I like better - the actual awning or how easy it is to install. Thule nailed it! I have this setup on my Tundra using Thule's 500XT racks. It was a solo install and couldn't have been easier. Once the adapters are placed as needed - it literally drops right into place. No issues, super easy and fast. The awning size is very generous and perfect for the ultimate car camping and/or overland experience. I have it set up alongside my RTT and it's perfect. Again, I strongly feel Thule nailed it with this awning. Great job!

Completed my own Sprinter build and selected the Thule over a competing product - better warranty and I liked the design. Had to fabricate a mounting system as I have a custom rack that wouldn't work with Thule's mounts (not unexpected - Thule can't anticipate every vehicle). I don't like the side mount plastic feet clips - they are cheap looking and make the van look cheap - so I created a different solution out of aluminum. To be honest I can't imagine a high quality product like this providing plastic parts like this but hey - it's a small thing. The crank arm also sticks / is hard to remove but found a simple solution by watching YouTube (put a rubber grommet on the end) - and it works great.

I installed this lock on my Sprinter Van because I read that the key lock on the driver door is easily opened with a screwdriver. Now when I’m away from the van, I use a chain from the driver door to the steering wheel, then use the sliding door, with this lock,as my entry point.

The awning itself is great. Does everything advertised. I needed a very simple mounting option and found that the adapters for mounting offered by Thule are very limiting. I only needed a horizontal bolt to mount to my roof rack to an existing flange(6 points) and they have nothing. Customer service, although attentive, pointed me right back to their available retail adapters on the website. I have had to purchase these and then modify everything to make it work.
We have now purchased three of these organizers because they hold such a great variety of things. We have one for shoes, one for bike gear and one for camping accessories. We chose the shoe organizer over the one with more pockets because it fits a road bike helmet quite well. And we can get two helmets two sets of cycling shoes plus gloves, socks tools etc in one organizer.
I spent a ton of time evaluating the Hideaway against their primary competition - a close tie but I picked the Thule largely because of warranty and great customer service. Because I was installing on a custom rack for my Sprinter Van I had to fabricate some mounts - which Thule could have in no way anticipated - which ended up working great (so well I made a YouTube video showing the install / operation). High quality, solid construction - very happy.
This organizer is used to keep all our "stuff" in places where we can find them but better still frees up neededspace for other things. Also easy to carry or move. Keeps everything secure with the individual pockets.
I really like the build, it feels solid and high quality. The magnetic holder is a plus especially if you are using it in the outdoors. Perfect height to reach the roof of the Sprinter and clean the solar panels. The only item I found a little difficult was to attach the magnetic holder as I had to reach up high before using the ladder. it attaches quickly and safely, but you kind of have to step on the ladder to secure the ladder to it. A quick click and attach support would have been optimal. Also they provided 3 clear circular stickers to attach to the car. It limits the locations of where to attach the mag holder and probably is going to yellow over time. I thought it was a bit weird and will not use it, of course, if not careful one could scratch the paint. But ... MoreI really like the build, it feels solid and high quality. I fitted this bike rack on my ford transit custom high roof . Had to use 100mm bolts to secure it as had to drill through the double skin on the door . Bit of a faff but wirth the effort
It's an Omnistor 4900 rebranded Hideaway for US. I like it and works good, however disappointed no corner strength gussets like 5200 and no center tension rafter either. Thule won't sell me the tension rafters separately to reinforce. Thule wants to sell me the whole sunshade setup. I just want the rafters for rigidity. Please Thule make the rafters a spare part.
