Although the lock on the hitch also falls into the 'poorly engineered' category. I'm fairly sure it will stop working at one point and it'll be locked onto my vehicle.2) The bikes are nicely spaced apart. And it's fairly easy to get in and out of the rear door without taking the bikes off.Bottom line, if you're looking for a 4-bike option that you put on your vehicle in the spring and leave it on until the fall, then this is an option for you. However if you're looking for something that installs easily, can go from 2 to 4 bikes, and doesn't take 4 hours to put together (counting buying the extra parts) -- then keep looking my friends.

We got our T2 Pro X a couple of months ago after getting a carbon frame mountain bike that couldn't be safely put on our old hanging rack. This rack is perfect for both our mountain and road bikes!Features I love:- Locks to hitch- Folds up out of the way when not in use- Easy to remove and stow in the garage- Folds down for rear hatch access with bikes loaded- Option to use the add on for increased capacityFeatures that need improvement:- Added lock cores to swing arms for bike security, but realized that it would still be really easy to steal a bike off the rack, so always add an extra lock. (only reason for four stars)

There is just 1, rather large, issue: DO NOT PURCHASE THIS RACK IF YOU ARE INSTALLING ON A JEEP WRANGLER JL!. The lock broke after a handful of uses leaving the bike rack stuck to my car! The rotating handle used to tighten/lock the rack to the receiver is very poor quality plastic and the lock itself is also very very very poor quality, feels and looks cheap. you can't use a traditional hitch lock either as they don't have a hole drilled for it so you're forced to used the single hole dainty safety pen - not the best insurance when you have 10K worth of bike on the rack. When in the locked position the handle spins freely so you are unable to remove the rack if the lock breaks while on the car. I created 2 separate warranty claims for my broken lock and have not heard back for either, its been 8 days. Ikea can print their instructions in, like, eight languages, c'mon Thule. The plastic "casing" around the main pivot point of the rack came out of the box cracked. Looks like an epoxy job for me. The decaling looks like it was done by someone with a hangover, not the best advertising for you. The rack itself is fantastic, with a big catch. Yeah, didn’t realize that this rack doesn’t come with locks. The locks have to be purchased separately. There is a lock that will keep the hitch from being stolen, but no locks included for the bikes. WHAT? I purchased the locks over a week ago and now they are lost in the mail. After a week of Thule and USPS “support” I remain unable to secure my bikes, have had to alter my vacation plans, and no resolution yet from the manufacturer or from the carrier. All of this could have been avoided if locks were included with the rack.

Having had my fair share of hitch racks previously, a Thule hanging rack, Yakima Holdup evo and now this, I have to say this rack is well worth it. I use this mainly to transport 35lb 29er full suspension mountain bikes. It's solidly built, I don't see the bikes bouncing up and down. The wheel hooks secure the bikes easily.If you need to transport a fat bike then this rack is not for you, get the XTR.I would've liked that it included bike lock cores, but in my case I had extra Thule lock cores which I used.The rear wheel strap doesn't ratchet like the XTR, but it's not really a big deal.Highly recommended!
At this price point I wish it came with locks for the bike attachments. It does come with a key to lock the hitch though. Very heavy but once it is on the vehicle hitch (I am attaching to either a Ford Explorer or Edge depending on which SUV is being used), adding and taking off bikes is pretty easy. The ratcheting switch to raise and lower the hook which grips the front wheels is made of a plastic that seems to have poor mechanical or wear capabilities. I am concerned that Thule did not choose a good plastic. The hitch swings away from the back hatch at a good distance. However, to lower the hitch, the level has to be hit a couple of times to release the platform and the platform then suddenly drops. I am not a fan. For safety sake, there should either be a hydraulic or strong spring assist to slow the drop. An assist in pushing the plastform back in place would be nice, also (that spring I mentioned). But I have worked out the process and know to warn people back when rotating the platform away from the hatch. I hardly notice the bikes and hitch while going down the highway (the bikes in the rear view mirror were pretty obvious). Only one lock was provided for the hitch - locking the tongue in place. There are places to add locks to the ratcheting arms. The extra locks are costing me about $25 each (on order). I am currently using a cable bike lock to keep the bikes from gaining wings and flying away while the car is unattended. The pin through the tongue is a non-standard tongue pin which is unfortunate. I like the security but losing the pin out and about is going to be very problematic. Obviously, I am attempting to remember to attach the pin to the rack when not in use along with the necessary wrench for attaching the pin (another item to lose and therefore a strong negative).
