I wasnt sure whether the thundershirt would calm him down, however I have tried this on this twice on a normal quite day at home and once while walking in the park. We wrapped him in it without over tightening the material to make it uncomfortable while still affording him the gentle pressure and protective aspect of security.The fabric of the ThunderShirt Sport is a lightweight polyester which I felt might be lighter and more breathable than the other models with a poly, spandex and rayon blend. With all the fur this guy has he doesn't need any additional warmth.The shirt is extremely well constructed with ample velcro closure tabs which do a great job for getting the ultimate fit required...if only he was a bit smaller...

Such an innovative, comfortable, lightweight easy anxiety coat for my big dog.He usually hates wearing clothing or jackets of any kind but he has no issue wearing this one for extended periods of time. When we had a storm recently I put it on him and he was calm and cuddled up on the couch with us. He even fell asleep in it comfortably.It fits so well - for reference I have a large 35kg Dalmatian and I got an xlarge and fits beautifully.It is currently summer so I haven't had as much opportunity as I'd hoped on outside walks because my dog gets especially anxious outside. I have put off ordering one of these because I really didnt think it would work. But holy moly, this thing is magic. I ordered it for fireworks, huge difference when she is wearing it. Today we had a huge severe thunderstorm and after I put it on her she stopped barking. She was still shaking but stayed glued to my side until the storm passed. Id say thats a success since without the shirt she would have been barking her head off. I just ordered another one for my other dog who isnt as bothered as her, but I think he is still nervous. Definitely order this even if you dont think it will work. I could have saved my baby so much stress if I had ordered it sooner.
Our tiny Yorkie girl becomes a bundle of nerves whenever she hears fireworks, thunderstorms, and construction noises, and we finally tried this product after our vet and groomer both recommended it for years. We followed the sizing chart, and the size XXS we ordered does fit her 5lb body and 11” girth pretty well. There probably isn’t any magic sewn into the Thundershirt’s materials, but you can tell it’s high quality, and the weighted fabric and numerous flaps fit snugly in all the right places. Does it work? A little. It has a noticeably calming, almost-sleepy effect on her, and she does prefer the vest to not wearing it when the outside world gets a little too much. But is this vest any match for the Fourth of July or a jackhammer sounding next-door? Nope.
Epic Fail! Not for skittish 4 year old GSD. We have had a german shepherd for 6 weeks now - rescued from a breeding puppy mill situation! She is very skittish, I have tried the anti-anxiety collars, not much good. She is on trazodone and CBD 2x daily. I had high hopes for this and honestly it was an epic fail, weather was threatening a storm. Calming vest caused her to run away into the garden and hide from me, refusing to move, looking woebegone, like she had done something wrong. I had to find her, drag her back into the house and lock her inside, basically took her back ten days of behavior training. I'd like to return it!
My dog, Theo, suffers from severe anxieties from everything…thunder and lightning storms, fireworks, separation, etc. It has progressively grown worse over the years. We have tried numerous remedies to no avail. The ThunderShirt was a whim purchase with absolutely no expectations of success. All I can say is wow, omg, how can this be? So far, it has been so effective. I don’t know what this shirt has in it but whatever it has it works for my lil Shi-poo. Theo immediately calms down. It’s almost as if he has been drugged…but he hasn’t. He seems to like the shirt. And again he isn’t losing his mind when there is a stressful event. I highly recommend giving it a try if your furry pet suffers from anxieties.
I was skeptical of this vest. My dog is a husky mix, with high energy and anxiety. I finally ordered it because Finley's separation anxiety, and anxiety in general, was getting to be too much. My other dog is very calm, so it's been hard dealing with the polar opposite. Not a minute after I put the vest on Finley, he melted. Lying on the floor, eyes closed--completely zen. Incredible. I'm also using other desensitization techniques (and plenty of exercise), with the goal of building up to several hours of leaving him at home without mass destruction and hysterical anxiety.
