The Tilley T3 Classic is an excellent all round Hat; the wide brim providing good Sun protection. The hat is very comfortable to wear (make sure you use ‘Tilley Sizing Guide’), is well made and although initially expensive is excellent value for money, I wore my last one almost daily for some 20 years before Tilley replaced on their ‘Guaranteed for Life’ scheme.... After 24 years, do I really need a new T3?
This review is NOT about a new Tilley hat. It is about my 24-year-old Tilley that I am thinking about replacing. It's khaki and has a few small stains that I just can't seem to get out, the brass lost its shine 20 years ago, and I like the idea of the fancy "new" moisture-wicking head band. My old hat has seen some wear and tear and stuff. But, as a T.V. news photographer, my old hat has seen some stuff! It's been to three hurricanes and a couple of tornados. It's been tear-gassed, been to a Super Bowl and a U.S. Open and a bunch of Rose Bowls and even more red carpets (everything goes with black, including khaki). This hat has been on a fist full of front pages and websites (when I end up in someone else's picture) and helps me stand out without drawing attention. ... And it's shielded a cigar during more rounds of golf than I could ever count. This hat and I have history. I'm really going to have to think about replacing this one... but if you are looking at your first Tilley, get it NOW!... Show more

Got my T3 Classic in Dark Navy today was impressed on fast shipping. The hat is beautifully crafted, pictures don’t do it justice . Fit like glove glad I didn’t size up but my T3 Wanderer fit like a glove to, only difference is Wanderer is distressed washed and softer... Show more

Can’t quit this hat!
I bought a T3 in 2008. I’ve worn it hiking, paddling, gardening or just to keep the sun off me. It went to Africa twice. The edges are fraying, it is permanently stained with sweat and a hole developed on the forehead where the fabric creased and rubbed. So, I bought another in 2021, reasoning that the old one just looked too tattered. The upshot: the 2021 hat is like new. I rarely wear it because I’m worried about staining it, or crushing it in a pack and ruining the shape. And it doesn’t fit like the old one. It sits above my head instead of wrapping over my skull like a comforting hand. Somehow I just can’t quit that old hat. So buy one of these hats, and start building your memories!... Show more

Great experience!
First and foremost I am extremely pleased that my Tilley is made in Canada! My brother in law did not read all the options carefully before ordering his, and he is so disappointed. He is even considering purchasing another, (made in Canada), Tilley. As for myself I was sad to give up my 20yr old Tilley hat but I absolutely LOVE my new one. The slightly larger brim took a bit of getting used to but I know come next summer, it will be very beneficial. I had a very non stressful communication with Vanessa D. who helped me navigate the whole purchase/registering process as I am NOT very computer savvy. Thank you so much and I hope to be wearing my Tilley hat well into my 90s! Kindest Regards,Sandra L. Hockin... Show more

Ive always been a ball cap guy.. till dad bought me my tilly
My father has always had a fishing hat the t3 cotton duck always khaki colored. I always liked the look of the hat but always out of my price range about 6 months ago dad bought me one as a gift and i think i may have worn my ball cap twice and the tilly replaced my trusty caps. So useful in many ways carpentry pencils fit in the fold for the brim on either side and the straps save you from losing it in the wind. Roofing? No problem. Framing a house? Still on your head. Testing your buddy's atv wide open? Still on your head fishing in 35 kt winds hauling lobster traps. This hat even keeps my son distracted enough to change his diaper If you're a working man and sick of cheap lids hats falling to peices in 4 months i promise you you wont be disappointed with a fitted ... Superb hats
Bought one about 30 years ago. It has served me very well and is only just in the last couple of years starting to wear out. I love it. I could have asked for a free replacement but I managed to find a Made in Canada one, old stock, at an online retailer. I opted to get that one, rather than a modern replacement, because the Canadian one was made with persnicketiness. It will see me out. My daughter is expecting it in my will.... Show more

Third Time Around
My 1st Tilley T3 was the Original and bought for me as a gift in the early 1980's (before Tilley hats were "Cool"). By 2002 I had that Original replaced (my 2nd Tilley T3) under the lifetime guarantee because I had also worn this hat to death (took 20 years). In 2022 I got my 3rd Tilley T3 Cotton Duck hat (also a replacement under the lifetime guarantee.)These hats are very comfortable and have protected my scalp from sunburn on many occasions. And yes, they do float - have had it go overboard once or twice but it was easy to retrieve and there was no panic thinking the hat would sink into the abyss.Tilley makes a high quality product and they stand by their warranty.... Tilly T3
I found my Tilly hat at...a thrift store!I totally bought it straight away. I'd never heard of Tilly before, but it just looked like a real quality hat - in the style I was exactly looking for too.I stashed a packet with some fishing line, a hook, a razor blade (in it's protective holder, of course), a military can opener, and a $20 bill up in the handy-dandy pocket and wear it more often than I thought I would - I really like it.And...I found it at a thrift store - for only $5!Why on Earth did the original owner give it away??(Of course I totally brag about how I have a hundred dollar Tilly hat now)...
