To protect you from the sun and rain, Tilleys fit lower than other hats. For your comfort, they're held on by gravity, not painful pressure on your forehead. On a hot muggy day, you'll especially appreciate this! Even though they fit gently, Tilleys won't fly off because when there's a breeze, you use one or both parts of the tuckaway Wind Cord. THEY FLOAT! A layer of closed-cell foam in the crown provides the Tilley's positive buoyancy. The Tilley comes with a tuckaway, adjustable, fore 'n aft Wind Cord. When it's calm, the Wind Cord stays hidden in the crown. When there's a breeze, place the part with the sliding knots behind your head. When it's windy or you're sailing, use the chin part too. It's also preshrunk. Soft and comfortable, it picks up sweat from your forehead and wicks it away to your temple area where it evaporates. The fabric and style of all Tilley Hats have been certified to block 98% of harmful UVA/UVB radiation and deliver an ultraviolet factor (UPF) of 50+, the maximum rating given.

The Tilley T3 Classic is an excellent all round Hat; the wide brim providing good Sun protection. The hat is very comfortable to wear (make sure you use āTilley Sizing Guideā), is well made and although initially expensive is excellent value for money, I wore my last one almost daily for some 20 years before Tilley replaced on their āGuaranteed for Lifeā scheme.

This review is NOT about a new Tilley hat. It is about my 24-year-old Tilley that I am thinking about replacing. It's khaki and has a few small stains that I just can't seem to get out, the brass lost its shine 20 years ago, and I like the idea of the fancy "new" moisture-wicking head band. My old hat has seen some wear and tear and stuff. But, as a T.V. news photographer, my old hat has seen some stuff! It's been to three hurricanes and a couple of tornados. It's been tear-gassed, been to a Super Bowl and a U.S. Open and a bunch of Rose Bowls and even more red carpets (everything goes with black, including khaki). This hat has been on a fist full of front pages and websites (when I end up in someone else's picture) and helps me stand out without drawing attention. ...Ā MoreThis review is NOT about a new Tilley hat. I bought a T3 in 2008. Iāve worn it hiking, paddling, gardening or just to keep the sun off me. It went to Africa twice. The edges are fraying, it is permanently stained with sweat and a hole developed on the forehead where the fabric creased and rubbed. So, I bought another in 2021, reasoning that the old one just looked too tattered. The upshot: the 2021 hat is like new. I rarely wear it because Iām worried about staining it, or crushing it in a pack and ruining the shape. And it doesnāt fit like the old one. It sits above my head instead of wrapping over my skull like a comforting hand. Somehow I just canāt quit that old hat. So buy one of these hats, and start building your memories!

First and foremost I am extremely pleased that my Tilley is made in Canada! My brother in law did not read all the options carefully before ordering his, and he is so disappointed. He is even considering purchasing another, (made in Canada), Tilley. As for myself I was sad to give up my 20yr old Tilley hat but I absolutely LOVE my new one. The slightly larger brim took a bit of getting used to but I know come next summer, it will be very beneficial. I had a very non stressful communication with Vanessa D. who helped me navigate the whole purchase/registering process as I am NOT very computer savvy. Thank you so much and I hope to be wearing my Tilley hat well into my 90s! Kindest Regards,Sandra L. Hockin
My father has always had a fishing hat the t3 cotton duck always khaki colored. I always liked the look of the hat but always out of my price range about 6 months ago dad bought me one as a gift and i think i may have worn my ball cap twice and the tilly replaced my trusty caps. So useful in many ways carpentry pencils fit in the fold for the brim on either side and the straps save you from losing it in the wind. Roofing? No problem. Framing a house? Still on your head. Testing your buddy's atv wide open? Still on your head fishing in 35 kt winds hauling lobster traps. This hat even keeps my son distracted enough to change his diaper If you're a working man and sick of cheap lids hats falling to peices in 4 months i promise you you wont be disappointed with a fitted ...Ā MoreMy father has always had a fishing hat the t3 cotton duck always khaki colored. I have one cap left for when my tilly is drying and i think i might replace it with a second one of these 100% recomend
I've just received my T3 in khaki, I've compared it to my old T3 (still going strong but sweat stained) and it appears just as well made, fits the same and looks great. I particularly ordered the made in Canada T3 from this site and I can confirm mine is proudly made in Canada. Best of all I only waited four days from ordering until it was delivered. I am very pleased.
Hat is such quality I couldn't bring myself to use their amazing guarantee. Owned my first for 25-30 years, bought another about a year ago. First hat has some character but still gets compliments.Thank you!I have enjoyed my hats very much. Not often you can brag about a product these days. If you're thinking about buying one just do it and thank me later
Im sure you have looked at many good quality head coverings, but once you have owned a Tilley hat, you will understand why they have become so popular, with walkers and the outdoor types.Their manufactured to very high standards, and should last the owner many many years, so i can thoroughly recommend anyone purchasing one.Just make sure you measure your head circumference exactly, as you need a little bit of movement, so the hat should be a good fit, not too tight.Once you have the correct size fitting, its then down to personal preference, but the hat represents very good value, considering how well they are made.
Bought one about 30 years ago. It has served me very well and is only just in the last couple of years starting to wear out. I love it. I could have asked for a free replacement but I managed to find a Made in Canada one, old stock, at an online retailer. I opted to get that one, rather than a modern replacement, because the Canadian one was made with persnicketiness. It will see me out. My daughter is expecting it in my will.
I bought my hat around 18 years ago. This hat has been a loyal companion on my holidays and in my garden. It has a life time guarantee and an amusing story about an elephant eating a keepers hat and it came out the other end in one piece. This is why I hate it. It's so bloody tough I can't break it or wear it out. My hat is now a little on the old and tattered side now but still all fully intact and perfect. I cant get a replacement as it's not broken, and as I'm now in my 40s and bought it in my 20s I get the feeling this bloody hat will outlive me. With no justifiable reason to spend on another or get a free replacement I shall just have to continue to enjoy wearing it and pass it down to my son. Maybe one day I will give up and buy a new one.
