A great hiking hat
The T4MO-1 is my 3rd Tilley hat. They're all well built, durable and offer great protection from the sun. This model has a couple of nice extra features over my previous Tilleys. There is a loop at the back brim so you can hang the hat up and there is a HyperKewl insert that makes the hat cooler on hot days. It isn't obvious but the egg-shaped insert is in the crown pocket, inside the top of the hat. Soak it for a few minutes in water, wring it out and insert it into the pocket for evaporative cooling. It is noticeable especially when there is a breeze going through the mesh of the hat.... Show more

Awesome hat for 12 years of heavy use
Finally fell apart after 12 years and Tilley is honoring their guarantee of shipping a new one. I was beginning to think this hat was indestructible. Very comfortable and kept the sun off my ears and neck and great in the rain.I was so impressed with their hat, guarantee and followup to the get me a replacement that I ordered another one in addition to the replacement one so I don’t have to carry the same one between houses.... Functional Hat
The T4MO-1 hat is a very good hiking hat. Mine was from 2021 when it was still made in Canada. I used it when I went to the Spirit Caves Trail. The vents does help cool your head and I used the Hyperkewl insert when it got too hot and I soaked it in water. Does help give you relief. I guess it can also depend on how thick and what kind of hairstyle you have. Unfortunately the one available now is not made in Canada anymore and I had to return it. Quality seems comparable. You do have to size up by following the Tilley guide.... Show more

Girlfriend approved sun hat
After a week of too much sun exposure in Joshua Tree National Park, top of my list for gearing up for an upcoming kayaking trip was to find a wide brim, breathable and packable sun hat to replace my go to baseball cap. The Tilley hiker hat is all this and is stylish; plus it has a hyperkewl pad that can be wetted for heat relief which sounds like a great feature as I used to soak my baseball cap but it would drip down on all sides. Upon receipt I found out that the Tilley hats are guaranteed for life once registered.... Show more

Good hat that use to be excellent
- Olive colour looks more like washed out olive/gray.- The fit os not exact and about 1/8” bigger.- The hidden compartment in that no longer has a velcro Janice now useless .- the material os cotton and coolI own several Tilly”s and this is the first purchase since this Canadian company was sold. The products are now made in china and in my humble opinion this hat does NOT compare to the old one.Bottom line good Chinese product and NOT a Canadian well made one.... Show more

Just like it's parent
I'm replacing a 20-25 year old Tilley Hat sewn with "Canadian persnickerdiness". Which is why it lasted so long. It was my go to, everything outside hat . I received an occasional compliment on the style . The new style has technical improvements in airflo but the comfort is the same solid feel. I particularly liked the hanging loop on the underneath edge of the back. This little addition has been very helpful. It makes hanging your Tilley hat easy and convenient. You don't get a good view of it in their promotional photo. They should. Without hesitation or reservation I would recommend this hat for anything outside. Thanks Tilley, another winner.... Show more

Lasted 10 years
I bought this hat a decade ago and have worn it for countless hours on the hiking trails. It has served me well. It has protected me from the sun rain snow! Alas it developed a tear the last time I wash it. My hat came with a lifetime warranty so Tilley is suppose to replace. I will let you know how that works out!... Show more

Love this Hat!
I waited to review this hat until I had put it through some testing. Recently wore it in 95+ degree weather on vacation. It took the edge off the heat. I thought I lost the hat at a restaurant and I went back more than once to look for it. Found it wedged behind my luggage and I was actually elated. I don’t do “elated” for much. Think that means I’m a Tilley guy for life!... Show more

No sweat
Truly great hat. I have used it at work, having to re- deck several 53 foot flat bed trailers. The sweat from my head wicked out the brim instead of running down my face. In 95-98 degree heat in direct sunlight. The sweat was literally dripping from the brim! Expensive but worth it!... Show more

Tilley Hiker’s hat
Got this to replace an older Tilley with a narrower brim and i couldnt be happier. The fabirc is way lighter, the mesh really does add breathability over the thick cotton duck of the old hate and the wider brim -which is substantially wider front and back, a great idea for sun protection on the neck while hiking- is a big upgrade. I still have the older classic and it is indestructible, but for most purposes i see this hiker’s hat as a definite improvement. (And yes, it is made overseas, but this really shouldnt be a surprise these days, and they still have lots of otehr models made in canada).... Show more
