I have found Ranger Distress Oxides to be a very valuable "go to" in my craft room. I use these oxide inks to make backgrounds for my art work. When three or four colors are blended together they make a stunning palette.

I am in love with these distress oxides. This one is great to use on mixed media pieces that have trees, flowers or any other natural/nature themes. Also great to use as a border when you've collaged with paper that has shades of green in it. It really enhances the overall look of the work. I have many of the colors it comes in, and used them all. Word of caution, the first time you use it, do a test swatch on some of the paper you want to use it on. Some of the colors look different when applied than how they look in the tin. The names of some of them are a bit deceiving too. I like them better than distress ink because they are more vibrant. If you prefer a more subtle color, the inks would work better for you.

Great ink for blending! Creamy enough to blend colors without work your shoulder hard or a long time. Pretty quick dry time. Water reactive so it washed off your hands, stencils and stamps easy. Little longer dry time with stamping. Would recommend!

This is not a standard ink pad. It is an ink that reacts with heat, reacts with water and all to produce different kind of effects that make the colors look shabby and worn. And that is the point. I find them very interesting to work with I’m trying to fill out the color caps so I can work with them better. So far been very happy with Tim Holtz and all of the ranger brand thus far.
Distress Oxide is NOT your everyday ink pad. It’s a kind of hybrid between a pigment pad and traditional ink pad but if sprayed with water, you will see the ink oxidized and develop a chalky, antique -y matte finish. It’s particularly good for backgrounds or textures.
I love all the Tim Holtz inks. However, I bought the Ripe Peraimmon oxide pad and the lid was fused shut. Obviously a manufacturing issue but Joann sent it separately from the rest of my order and the label said Returns Dept. I don’t mind that in itself, but I’d say that’s why this item was returned. I tried to open it and the lid broke and now will let air in and dry out the pad, so it needs to be replaced or returned.
The ink pads are used by many crafters so I wanted to try it. Sadly both pads I bought are so dry they are almost worthless even when spraying them with water or storing upside down. Not sure if these were on sale because they were old but I wouldn’t buy them again.
After seeing nearly every paper crafter on YouTube use this distress oxide I've fallen in love with it. While the "vintage photo" color is the standard for inking edges to make them look vintage, this color provides a slightly darker tint when you want the contrast. It makes nice patters when you spritz it with water too!
One of the best ink pads on the market both for form factor as well as formula. Functions as a hybrid between dye and pigment, square shape makes for easy application ( I tap ink onto the stamp instead of the other way around), and it doesn’t have to be stored upside down. Love that there are a plethora of options for each color (ink, oxide, paint, spray, markers, etc.), reinkers and releases of new colors. I wondered what all the hype was about, then I tried it (Oxide). Now I’m hooked! I will say that the clarity of the stamp image transfer also depends on the quality of the rubber (the ink can only compensate for so much). All of my photopolymer, acrylic and quality red rubber stamps work well with this ink, but cheaper rubber stamps are… cheap images regardless ... Antique Linen is a particular favorite for creating visible yet light images, so I’ll be buying a reinker for this one!
I bought this product for for scrapbooking/journaling and it works great! I was afraid i wouldnt be able to use it without the brush meant for the product but it worked with any brush for me. I also used this when writing a letter to make it look vintage like. I think this is a great product if thats what ur looking for!
