Timberland CLASSIC BOAT is just that, a timeless classic that is built the way shoes were made decades ago, to last almost a decade ! I have bought a new pair of men's Timberland CLASSIC BOAT shoes every 5-yrs for the past 30-yrs. My 1st pair were bought my sophomore year in college and I've been wearing them every summer since. I was told by a shoe store owner to put them on new & walk in a bath tub full of ankle deep lukewarm water for about 10-12 min. Then wear them all day 5-7 hrs which allows them to begin to shrink to the shape of my foot. I set them in the shade to air dry the next day. Make sure the leather laces are tied to your preferred tightness as they dry the leather shrinks and they will never need tieing again ! You'll be so glad you did it, I am so glad I was taught this over 20-yrs ago !

My husband has worn these for years. Many classics tend to be tweaked or changed over the years and often are made with increasingly cheap materials and short cuts. These boat shoes have remained high quality with each pair that I've bought for my husband over the decades.

Really nice shoes but had to go half a size up. Notably the colours of the shoes to vary quite a bit. I purchased mine from a Timberland shop and the shoes in the box were much lighter than those on display (which were darker). The salesperson at the shop explained that with age and use the leather darkens and matures, hence why the shoes on display were darker. The shop kindly applied wax to the shoes which darkened them. Either way they are a great pair of shoes and of a great quality....
I've bought this exact shoe for many years. The quality is still, for the most part, very good. After a few wearings the foot beds on both shoes curled up and needed to be removed and re-glued with some real glue. They did a lousy job at the factory with that. The leather is still top quality. Again, I've bought this exact shoe 12W Timberland shoe for years and I never remember them being that snug right out of the box, so something seems to have changed in the sizing. The wide actually feels more like a medium to me.
Needed to replace these shoes since my pair had served well for many years, but they were falling part. I wanted a new pair of these shoes but was not able to find them in the places where I'd previously seen them. I found The Shoe Mart had them at a good price so I ordered. The shoes came days after the order and they have been just what I hoped for. They have been five-star throughout.
Not the cheapest but you can tell the quality straight away. I'm cautious buying shoes without trying them on due to different foot shape/size but these were comfy straight away and can feel the leather moulding to my foot shape already. Rapidly becoming my favourite shoe and I own a lot of pairs!
My first pair of these lasted around 15 years my second around 7. The sole on the newer pair has gone through, I bought like for like replacement as my first pair had just had it but the sole was still good. The quality has gone down price has gone up. I will still buy more as there a Conf table shoe but I will look at other manufacturers before I decide on Timberlands again. Such a shame.
I bought these thinking I was getting a premium product, but the quality is poor. The stitching on the fold at the back of the shoes is rough and a bit all over the place (not major or really noticeable when on my feet though), one of the leather laces was rough on one side (which I've been able to hide in a knot) and one of the insoles fell out after wearing them on the first day (the glue has failed so I will reglue it). Over all, I wouldn't recommend these for the price but apart from the defects they are okay.
I've worn boat shoe's since I was 12 to 13. I've tried 4-5 brands over those 37+yrs(Timberland, Sperry, Sabago & Eastland). I must state, of the brands listed, Timberland's 'Classic Boat' & Sperry's 'Sperry Cup & Sperry's Gold Cup'(white outsoles), have been my tried & true summer shoe. Timberland's Classic Boat with the gum outsole & Sperry's Mako 2-eye gum sole are my fall/winter boat shoe. All of my summer boat shoe's are worn w/o socks. When wearing for 1st time, I fill bathtub with ankle deep warm water. Then go on my new Timberland or Sperry's, tied semi tight, then I walk back & forth for about 10-min.. I then sit on edge of tub & retie the laces to my preferred tightness. The leather tightens as it dry's, creating a custom fit shoe. As the leather dry's the laces never need tying again. I have applied this process with each pair of my summer Sperry & Timberland boatshoe's & each have lasted all of 5-summer's. I am rough on my shoe's & Sperry & Timberland are the only 2 brands of boatshoe's that handle all that I put them through. $20/summer is a GREAT return on my investment. The gumsole siblings to my summer style have held-up equally as well/long. So its is true, with Timberland & Sperry, you get what you pay for.
