After having this watch for several weeks now and reading several poor reviews before I purchased I thought it was time for my personal experience with this watch. So far it has been a very positive experience. I've had no trouble whatsoever with it. It keeps great time, the band is very well made and comfortable, the hardware has held up to daily wear and the Indiglo feature works great. I read in some negative reviews that the Indiglo feature stopped working after a few hours to a few days. That has not been my experience. I've beat this watch in my everyday work life and everything still works as normal. I also read several reviews that complained about the dark area in the Indiglo feature at 6 o'clock on the dial. I also read some negative comments about the strap becoming frayed at the holes and edges. I have a simple fix for that. Take a lighter and singe the holes and the edge of the band and you will not have anymore frayed edges. For the money this is a well made rugged watch. If you are on the fence it is my experience that this is a great value and no worries should be given to the negative comments you read. Besides, if there is a problem Home Essentials Direct will make it right. Good luck and buy with confidence.

I have a friend who is an archeologist who use this watch at his for his archaeological excavations. That says a lot about the quality! This watch can be used for ALL occasions: Fishing, Extreme Sports, Urban use and even for more Fancy Occasions. Its also no problem taking a shower or a swim with it. If you buy one black and one brown leather-strap you can easily wear it to a tuxedo. With a leather-strap it all of a sudden becomes extremely stylish looking, a competitor to far more expensive watches. Put a nato-strap on it and you get a watch with far more attitude. The versatility of this watch makes it one of a kind. So if you are on a budget or just like watches in general this is a must have. I personally uses it almost daily, even more than my AppleWatch, Rolexs and Omegas. The unique function of this watch is that if the crown is pressed - the whole dial illuminates in a strong turquoise color. This makes it possible to read the time in any condition, even in total darkness. The only thing to wish for is that it was a bit more water-resistant. On the other hand then it would have been heavier, clumsier and a lot more expensive. To be honest I have never experienced it taking in any water, so its really no big thing. So this is a No Brainer - an awesomewatch to an equally awesome price!! (Sorry for my bad English)

I decided to start wearing a watch again because I think it's convenient and looks good. I own a few Timex watches with leather bands but over time the weather has gotten that wrinkled look to it in the places where it's bent so I decided to get a new watch. I was skeptical about they nylon strap band because I thought it might not be as comfortable as the leather but that's definitely not the case. I love wearing this watch and I like the color. I think it looks darker in my pictures but it works with most things. I still wear it even when it doesn't. A big seller was for me was that this is also water resistant and seems to be able to take a beating. A big seller was for me was that this is also water resistant and seems to be able to take a beating. I've banged it on the sides of doors, walls, you name it (by accident of course) and there are no scratches on the lense. I can also attest to the water resistance because I recently was fishing and wading through the stream when I slipped on a rock and fell face forward. I caught myself with my hand but went up to my elbows into the water and the watch still works great. Eventually I'd like to buy another one with a different color that's more neutral but this one is still great!
I grew up with Timex. I remember sitting in front of the TV as a kid in the 60s and watching the Timex torture test commercials when theyd strap a Timex watch to the propeller of a boat, or place a watch on the bow of a motor boat racing through river rapids. And of course theyd end the commercial with their famous line, It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Good stuff. But on my last few Timex watches, when its time to change the battery, after removing the rear plate, I cannot get the plate back on. In my attempt at replacing the plate, Ive watched a number of tutorials, marked the watch case with a pen to ensure I placed it back precisely where it was before removal, and I even purchased a watch press. In my attempt at replacing the plate, Ive watched a number of tutorials, marked the watch case with a pen to ensure I placed it back precisely where it was before removal, and I even purchased a watch press. Ive had no luck. With no way of replacing the rear case, my Timex watches have essentially become a deposable watch. When the battery dies, my only option is to throw the watch out and purchase a new watch. Even with Timexs competitive prices, thats not only a costly alternative, but a waste of a good watch. My current watch battery has lasted 5 months after purchase. Sadly (I truly mean that), Ill miss my old faithful Timex, but Im now in search of a non-disposable watch brand.
I have bought two in the last year or so and the Ingiglo light stops working after 9 months. I had one 10 years ago and it was years old before I got it and the light was still working when I lost it. I hope there is a warranty. Write me please. I would pay more for a better watch if it looked like the Expedition.
Love the Indiglo watch. I work on a farm and it stands up pretty well to a rough lifestyle. Only gave 4/5 stars because I am pretty sure I opted out of emails during checkout but I’ve gotten 10 emails from Timex (some promotional and some review requests) in the past month, despite trying multiple times to unsubscribe from all emails.
Many things have been said of this legendary Timex series, I'll try to summarise the main ones: 1. If you got it anywhere below 35 bucks it is amazing value. This watch punches above its weight in terms of looks, dial legibility and comfort. 2. When you read negative feedback in other reviews please do remember it's low price point. It is not a $500 or even a $100 watch. We match the performance to the price. 3. It wears a little small for 40mm without crown. Mainly due to the modest lug to lug and short lug length. That being said, I have 7.5inch wrists and it still is passable if you don't mind the vintage field watch look. (see my wrist shot) 4. The band is on the stiff side but it is to be expected for a brand new product. Nobody wants a worn out band when ... MoreMany things have been said of this legendary Timex series, I'll try to summarise the main ones: 1. If you got it anywhere below 35 bucks it is amazing value. The band is on the stiff side but it is to be expected for a brand new product. Nobody wants a worn out band when buying new. Keep wearing it and it softens. The sand khaki color is very nice! 5. The overall watch with nylon band is very light, you hardly feel it on your hand. Great for humid treks in the forest or sporting events. 6. It's a Timex. It'll last longer than some cheap unknown brand that likely costs more. I think these make excellent gifts even for someone who has Rolexes, Omegas etc. Get one if you haven't yet, it'll grow on you pretty fast. I wanted to flip it at first when I saw its size, but the more I wear it, the more I love this humble little ticker.
My father bought me my first watch when at 6 years old I learned to tell time. It was a Hamilton Boulton that I broke in one week. My father replaced it with a Timex. I wore that through the rest of elementary school and part of junior high school. I remember seeing the John Cameron Swazee ads with the motto, "Taking a lickin' and keeps on tickin'." I currently own two other Timex: another Expedition with a nylon strap with velcro and another with a leather strap. I wear the other Expedition when I ride my bike,go to the beach or exercise outside; it's easy to wash the nylon strap. This is meant for the summer. It keeps time as accurately as my other watches (all of which - with one exception - are quartz). Only my Bulova Precisionist keeps time better. It keeps time as accurately as my other watches (all of which - with one exception - are quartz). Only my Bulova Precisionist keeps time better. Most importantly the dial is fairly easy to read. The inner numbers for 24-hour time complicates that a bit, but not too much. Without exception all the timex watches that I own have Indiglo, something I have appreciated on several occasions. And in my experiences with my first Timex, I know better than to test its water resistance. I don't have to worry about a splash or two. But you need to nuts to swim or shower with this watch unless you're preparing to dispose of it. I have one or two more expensive watches. But on the weekend, my Timex watches are my "go-to" watches.
The elegance is it's simplicity. The watch I bought has a black face and gray case. The Arabic numbers are generally easy to read, but the contrast and size of the numbers isn't as great as Timex's Easy Reader line. The printing on the face is actually a very light gray and not as white as it appears in some of the photos. Those who have aging eyes like mine may have some difficulty reading the watch as ambient light fades. The hour and minute hands are phosphorescent, but their brightness/contrast depends on ambient lighting and preceding "charge." The Indiglo works best in very low light as it only faintly illuminates the watch face with the numbers and hands appearing dark. (Remember that the watch face is intrinsically dark, so it doesn't let as much "glow" across as would a lighter-colored watch face.) However, I'm not taking any stars away for the above. The watch is elegantly simple, just the right size, accurate, readable, water resistant to 50m, uses the commonly available CR2016 button battery. This has become my everyday-wear and travel watch. (The watch band is made of a nice and supple genuine leather, but I replaced mine with a ArtStyle NATO-type watch band for better durability under constant hand washing, swimming, outdoor sports, etc.).
