Best watch for active husband

Bought for my husband. It is the only daily wear watch he likes. He needs the three alarm system for reminders in AM and PM. He especially likes the fast wrap feature.I should have ordered 2 as his backup is quite a few years old.

In one year: 1 of 2 strap loop broke. Watch light sometimes doesn't want to turn on. Will change format shown on face of watch to something weird or time will be changed. Husband will just change it back or keep pushing the button to make the light turn on. Nothing we can do about the strap loop. He still wears it daily.

I bought this watch for my son. When open, already find the arms did not move. I turn the button on the right hand side a bit and it run. After a short while, it stopped again. A very bad shopping experience to have bought a faulty Timex watch. No return purchase any more

Great watch w/ not so great band
24 July 2024

The Expedition series of watches are great because they the functions I need and are durable and water(sweat) proof for everyday use. Have owned one since 2008 that is still working & I use, but is showing its age. Ended up returning the silver faced one, since it has a Velcro wristband that will not hold up long term. Ordered an Expedition w/ olive face and leather buckled wristband like I have owned since 2008.

Great watch, Great value.
10 September 2024

I have been wearing this watch for +15trs. Very comfortable, "takes a licking and keeps on ticking"! The only problem has been that the leather band wears out and the only way to replace it is to buy a new watch. I will be VERY disappointed if Timex stops making this watch with the leather wrist band.

I mainly use this watch for work where we rely on having accurate time. I have been wearing this watch now for 2 weeks. What I like about the watch: 1: Watch face is large enough to be able to clearly read the time, date and day of the week. 2. Watch face is not so big that it is uncomfortable (roughly 1 5/8 inch wide by 1 3/4 long) 3. The combination nylon/leather strap is thin and flexible (but durable). The thickness is about 3/4 of an inch making it very comfortable to wear. 4. Indiglo feature is bright in the dark and very easy to find the button as it is on the face of the watch as opposed the side of the watch. 5. Setting are easy to navigate and easy to set time and date 6. Includes chronograph, timer and you can assign 3 different alarms. 7. You can set it to a 24 hour clock. What I did not like: 1. The watch did not come with instructions on how to set the watch up and to navigate it. But as i stated earlier it is super easy to figure out. (to set your time just press and hold the set button while you are in time mode, hit the mode button, hit start/split button to adjust time, hit set to set the time) 2. Sometimes i have a difficult time getting the watch on and off, but i think that will get easier as the watch band breaks in. In conclusion I would not hesitate to buy this watch. Again, it is super comfortable, light weight, easy to read and has been very durable so for. And at this price point how could you go wrong?

Nice watch marred by non working button
16 September 2024

First the good:The watch is a great size and fit for my wrist. I like the contrasting colors on the face and the sharp digital display. This will be a nice watch with a different strap. The supplied one is fine but I generally replace the strat with every watch. 100m of water resistance is nice for a trail/field watch. Also the second hand is matching up with the minute marks on the face. Nice! The Bad:Strap is stiff / may break in but I prefer an aftermarket strap ( personal choice)The “Indiglo” button does not engage the light.

Ok watch. From a functional perspective it works fine and does everything my previous Expedition watches have done. That said, I'm underwhelmed. The face is smaller than I expected. If you are familiar with Apple Watches, they come in 38 mm and 42 mm sizes. Think woman's size (38 mm) and man's size (42 mm). My previous Expedition, which looks similar to this one, was akin to the 42 mm. This watch is more like a 38 mm. I bought it based on the picture since it looked very similar to my old watch. I just checked and there is one picture which shows it on a millimeter scale but it's somewhat misleading. I just checked and there is one picture which shows it on a millimeter scale but it's somewhat misleading. At first glance, it looks like it's 40+ mm but if you look carefully, you can see that the measurement is from the tips of the part where the band connects, not the round face. By my reckoning, it appears the actual size of the face is about 35-38 mm which jives with my experience. Because of the smaller face, all of the info on the face is similarly smaller than my previous Expedition. Not unreadable, but less readable. Second issue is the green glass they use for the face. It is very glossy and somewhat dark with dark digits underneath. As a result, it is hard to read from an angle (i.e., I have to consciously turn the watch so that I am face-on) and hard to read against the darker background and/or in the dark. The Indiglo light works fine, but there have been several instances where I should have been able to read the watch in available light but instead had to use the light. Overall, it looks good and functions fine as a watch, keeps accurate time, does 2 time zones, laps, etc. Just like every other Expedition. That said, I don't like it nearly as well as my previous, larger Expedition and find it more of a strain to use. I probably should have sent it back and would not buy this specific Expedition again.

One of the few watches
28 September 2024

One of the few watches that offer both, an analog and a digital, display of time at a reasonable price. Showing time is all it does and, therefore, is distraction-free, keeps me focused on keeping track of time without having to pull a smartphone out of my pocket and getting sidetracked by all the other notifications such device throws at me. With this watch a quick glance at my wrist informs me of what I want to know: what time it is.

This watch and band is very light of weight, about 35 G which is about the weight of 7 US Nickels. The band has black leather where it connects to the case the rest of the band is made of black nylon and has a metal clasp. The case dimensions and band width are already provided on Home Essentials Direct. The hours and minutes numbers are large. They are black LCD changing to green during “INDIGLO on a grey background and the entire display is very easy to read in sunlight or darkness. This watch is water resistant to 100M and is shock resistant. This watch has both 12 and 24 hour display. It has 2 time zones that are easy to toggle between. I found this feature very convenient while traveling. It has a chronograph to 99 hr, 59 min, 59 sec, in 1 hundredth of a second increments. It has individual, split time/lap counters, with each measuring up to 99hr, 59min, 59sec with 1 hundredth of a second increments. Unsure of how many time/laps it is able to track, but I believe up to 99. This watch has 3 alarms, a timer and an hourly audio signal. The alarms are easily set. The hourly alert is easily turned on or off. Had this watch for 1 year. This watch is so accurate that the time is only adjusted when daylight saving time changes to standard time. I have only set the time three time, initially and for those two time changes. Time is still within one minute. Battery is original and it has been dependable and trouble free. This watch is the most accurate of any watch I’ve owned, in 2 1/2 years it has been so accurate I honly needed to set it only twice yearly, when time changes from standard to daylight saving. Amazingly accurate. Battery finally died, so bought a replacement Timex Expedition February 2019. All features were still working as new. Only had a few scratches on the dial & had been worn continually. Comparing to a Timex Ironman, the time readout is larger, the date & weekday readout being slightly smaller. The Expedition band can be changed instead of the one piece design of the Ironman & the band feels more comfortable to me. Still have this watch as It only needs a battery replacement at $7 USD, all else seems as new, The band had no issues. I bought it’s replacement & hope it’s as accurate as the original. Bought both watches from Home Essentials Direct as used in good condition saving $15 USD off the new asking price, the only differences were the packing. What a deal. The less than optimal are: 1) This watch has an acrylic rather than mineral dial window that had minor scratches. 2) The original lacked user instructions, although it’s settings and usage are mostly intuitive making it easy to set up. This Timex Men’s Expedition digital watch, model T49992 is medium sized. I wouldn’t consider this a dress watch, but it is damn dandy watch. The replacement Expedition has a slightly different case, not a deal breaker. Again, I hope this replacement is as accurate & durable as the first.
