Nice sharp images with minimal aberrations. See uploaded 8 layer stacked focus image. Working focal length is great for keeping your shadow out of the image, even on 1:1 shots.

Bought this as a first Macro lens because of the home isolation rules for the Virus. Have to say it's been everything and more that I expected. Super image quality and what is not good quality is my fault not the lens at all.

As a professional for nearly 20 years, I realized you do not have to spend a lot to get great results. This lens is everything you need: lightweight, inexpensive, small, and very sharp.
For the price, this lens is great. The image quality is fantastic. The photos I have taken have been tack sharp. The only issue I have with it is just how bad the autofocus is. It isn't a dealbreaker at this price point but it is worth mentioning.
I'm just getting started with this lens. I've enjoyed Tokina lenses in the past. I watched a couple YouTube videos and they were helpful. It seems well-built and easy to use. My first images were sharp.
former canon shooter accustomed to both EF and 'L' versions of this lens. Pro/Con: cost effective, sharp center focus even though focus is a little slower than aforementioned.. good focus on aps-c [a6500] up to f10, then it hunts... even in good light.good focus without hunting on a9 and a7riii even stopped down. acceptable performance , good price compared to alternatives.
This lens looks and feels nice, but unfortunately it has a hard time focusing and it's noisy. If you are looking for a quiet lens, this is not it. The focus motor noise is really noticeable, especially when the lens detracts to 1:1 ratio and retracts. I used this lens on my A7III and the A6000. On the A6000, the lens was even worse at focusing. If you don't mind the noise, the lens is light, felt just right on both camera bodies and has a great price.
Pros: Good price. Very reasonable weight. Reasonable sharpness when doing macro shots.Cons: VERY noisy focus motor. Wouldn't lock focus properly (not sure if it was just my copy or not). Not even as sharp as the Sony 85mm f/1.8 when doing non-macro shots. No Autofocus/Manual Focus switch or clutch.In summary, having tested this lens and found it lacking for my intended purposes, I will be saving my money for the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro (despite being about twice the price).
This Tokina Firin F2.8 Macro lens F/sony FE is nothing short of amazing!It has a very cool feature built into the body! The barrel extends when you activate the AF, and when you turn the camera off the barrel retracts! Here's the kicker when you turn the camera back on it remembers where you left off!! Awesome feature! The photos are beautiful with sweet Bokeh! It can do portraits, landscape and of course close up photography! It's a steal at $599, you won't be disappointed!
