It's sweet, but not too sweet, it's fruity but only very light, and together with the floral notes it seems fresh and elegant. After some time the vanilla becomes more dominant in the base. But even this is not a despicable vanilla, like in the very close drydowns of some other perfumes, but is slightly ambered, wonderfully creamy and still carries all the spice of the previous course well-bedded in itself. I would characterize the fragrance as spicy-oriental rather than gourmand, but it's up to the individual to decide what to eat... But what sets it apart from many other orientals is that it always retains a certain transparency and never appears sweet, overblown or overcharged. I also think it's a perfume that can be worn all the time: in the morning, at noon, in the evening, at night, in spring, autumn and winter. For this type of perfume, it's quite unusual And last but not least: I actually caught myself putting on this wonderful fragrance just for sleeping. Decadent, I know. but gorgeous! The first notes I smell when I spray it on are spicy notes (mainly ginger) and flowery notes (mainly rose). In a weird, but positive, way, the opening also has a sweet gasoline-like undertone to it that makes it smell luxurious. The Parfum version takes a more balanced approach by toning down the florals, adding the soft but masculine leather, and by replacing whatever made the EDP too sweet with more beautiful, smooth vanilla. I think the Parfum version is highly underrated on Fragrantica, despite it's current 4.33/5 rating. It's a masterpiece that only improves on what the EDP did well. Performance: This lasts all day on me and consistently projects an arm's length with a heavy sillage. It's enough projection to enjoy all day without smoking people out of the room. This scent is well composed but refined, and considering the price, I can’t say it’ll be “full-size bottle worthy” for everyone. I will say, going back to the beginning of this review, this is a headier fragrance, it’s not sometime would probably wear everyday. My daily routine includes more of a light/fresh type of scent, but I will definitely wear this for dinners and go out in the evening. The packaging is pretty stunning too, the bottle is made of a very rich deep cocoa colored glass that is dense and heavy, and it’s trimmed in metallic gold. Tom Ford is known for his undeniable level of taste and Noir Extreme is no exception. 5 out of 5, def recommend!

It's not a real issue in that it goes to show how the notes are well blended. But this is why I would pick Carlisle, Herod or Layton before I would pick this up: something special unfolds when you wear those, and the sillage that they leave has something both mysterious and cozy. Noir Extrême reminds me more of the classic Pert Plus shampoo smell (LNDLH reminisces me of that every time!), with a really nice vanilla backbone.Nevertheless, this is a great entry-level scent among gourmands, as it is not too daring, but it's very well-built and performs in real satisfactory manner. It may not ooze with personality, but it's far from boring or unpleasant.In a few words: Imagine La Nuit de l'Homme with added vanilla, and different flowery undertones.Pros: Quite versatile and mass-appealing for a gourmand scent. On my skin, it lasts for roughly about 3-4 hours before turning into skin scent. Projection too is moderate to intimate. If you are looking for something that would spread throughout the room and has a vast projection, this might not come up to the expectations. Lack of longevity also kind of goes against the characteristic of a parfum concentration and it seems like it’s a weaker concentration of oils.My recommendation: the perfume itself a beautiful and interesting blend of ingredients however, should you buy it or not totally depends on what you expect from a fragrance. Will definitely be a nice addition to your winter collection!
