It's like playing a tennis match without a net! Sure, the developers promise it'll arrive end of May, but why wasn't it ready from the start? Launching an incomplete game at a premium price feels like a double fault. Sorry, I'm a little tired of game companies releasing uncompleted games and charge AAA price for it.You can play with people randomly in the world but the matchmaking is far to be fair. I watched various streamers navigate these matches revealed a frustrating trend: as soon as they won a few points, their opponents mysteriously vanished from the court, 80% of the time. Not fun when you want to play a game! Now, onto the career mode, where the promise of crafting your own tennis legend is overshadowed by tedious grinding or a hefty paywall. It's slow, repetitive and not super engaging. The energy system feels like a forced march, draining the fun out of what should be an exciting journey to the top.Visually, TopSpin 2k25 is a mixed bag. While the stadiums shine with authenticity, the character models—especially their faces—leave much to be desired. On PC, the lack of visual customisation options (2 settings for visual with High or Low) is a letdown, reminiscent of hitting a lob only to watch it fall short of the baseline.Controls, however, are in a much better spot. Once you get the hang of them, they offer an ok level of precision and responsiveness. But for newcomers or those still climbing the ranks in MyPlayer mode, mastering the mechanics can feel like trying to return a serve from Serena Williams herself. Your main focus is the power/timing meter and often, you lose focus on the rest. It gets better if you are higher level but... not fun to start with.In the end, TopSpin 2k25 serves up a decent game of tennis, but it's not quite match point. With some much-needed tweaks and additions, it could become the ace of the genre. But until then, it's more of a double fault than a grand slam.

A great return to an underappreciated series

Topspin 2K25 is everything I wanted from a series that perhaps might not be rich in features but is very very rich in gameplay. The tennis is just as you would remember from topspin 4, and the assortment of venues is spot on, even if the actual character models still look stuck in the PS3 age. This is not an arcade game like Virtua tennis, the action is more sim like, but it's still provides a really enjoyable time especially with friends. It may not be for everyone but I find this to be an excellent return to the topspin series.

Great game first played on Xbox and even better on PS4. So realistic and love the game play and 2 player modes. The training school is great help as well. Graphics look fab on PS4 too. Love the intro and way it first starts as well.

Brilliant game, mechanics are almost perfection. More real players and a “my team” style mode would be good

Poor game. Until developers figure out how to untie the moving and aiming controls, tennis games will not be worth the time or the money

Dont trust Best Buy-False advertising on preorders

This is not a review of the game but rather Best Buy’s handling of pre-order purchases of Top Spin 2k25. I pre-ordered this game through advertisements that all preorders will recieve the “Under The Lights pack” as a preorder bonus. However, after picking up this game they did not send the code for this DLC content so i reached out. Their customer care representative said this only applied to a limited number of purchases which is contrary to their listing for the game and contrary to the post on 2k Sports website that this is an preorder incentive for all purchases regardless of retailer. Next time go to Amazon or Target for any preorders as Best Buy cannot be trusted to fulfill their offers and doesnt mind inducing people to purchase and not fulfill their end of ... MoreThis is not a review of the game but rather Best Buy’s handling of pre-order purchases of Top Spin 2k25. Not Worth It
2 July 2024

Even after a few months since release, there are a lack of features and licensed players that you would expect from a 2k game. No Nadal or Djokovic for example. Gameplay loop is a bit slow.
